About 20 minutes after the Benediction, the news stations had to break for commercials, as did WABC in NYC, so I made the mistake of flipping to NPR, which I knew wouldn't have commercials and I'd hoped was still in Rome. Nope.

They were already disparaging the Holy See. The tail end of one commentator brought questions of Human Rights violations in Argentina pretty much just because he was there.

They was more upbeat at the moment, stating, "If he's clean, this is a historic moment!"

Beg your pardon? "If he's clean?" I'm sure he freshened up a little before stepping out on the balcony.

“Clean”? talking about the internal issues of the catholic church (scandals)? Who knows... only God. So is he just Pope Francis or is he the first, second, etc? Ever been one named that before? Guess this blows the whole malachy prophecy apart?
