Rick Warren’s Son Commits Suicide

ick Warren’s son has taken his own life. Matthew Warren, 27, had struggled with mental illness before his death.

Evangelist Greg Laurie posted an e-mail the Saddleback Church pastor sent to this staff: “Only those closest knew that he (Matthew) struggled from birth with mental illness, dark holes of depression, and even suicidal thoughts. In spite of America’s best doctors, meds, counselors, and prayers for healing, the torture of mental illness never subsided. Today, after a fun evening together with Kay and me, in a momentary wave of despair at his home, he took his life.” Click here to read a prayer request Rick Warren e-mailed to his staff.

Prayers and condolences are flooding into Warren’s Facebook page. And Laurie also expressed his heartfelt pain over Warren’s loss.

My pleasure. I discovered a lot of stuff while learning more about one of my favorite Medieval women, St. Hildegard of Bingen (Link), a German Benedictine of the 12th Century.

When I was breastfeeding my firstborn, I learned that to promote the abundance of milk, she prescribed beer and "sweet spiritual music"!

Just last October, Pope Benedict XVI gave her the title "Doctor of the Church".

Even in God’s word, the Holy Bible, speaks about healing through what you have said.

Also speaking about one of the saints who was just made a doctor of the Church, I hear from time-to-time that the saint whose’s diary made devotion to the Divine Mercy of Christ possible, that she could be considered to become a doctor of the Church.

Years ago I went up to Stockbridge, MA for the Divine Mercy pilgrimage on Divine Mercy Sunday. The number of pilgrims were a lot, but not in the great amounts you see now such as today being Divine Mercy itself. Heard the testomony of the woman who was healed by God become of St. Faustina’s intercession, the was the miracle that made her canonization a reality.

Sincere condolences to Pastor Rick, his wife, and the whole family.

I read somewhere else someone’s reflection that God probably said : “Oh, we were expecting you...just not so soon.”

May this beloved son rest in peace eternally.

Our dear friend Luke was no doctor after he found his savior.

Please explain further, with citations, that he did not help anyone along the way as he went about apostling, who may have had a curable disease. Didn't Jesus himself make a potion with spit and mud for the blind man, instead of just declaring him well? The Bible says he taught his disciples many things. Why not how to cure people?

OK, waiting for your citation of how Luke stopped being a doctor.

Thanks, Biggirl. I actully don’t know much about the Divine Mercy devotion, and St. Faustina Kowalska. We do have a version of this image in our parish, and a prayer group that is devoted to the Chaplet.

The apostles healed Yeshua’s way, not Satan’s.

A person who goes to a doctor expecting healing has jumped off the cliff above their grave.

Disease management isn’t healing, its a cash cow for the Med Mafia.

Sanctification is the path to complete healing every time. Those that die a “horrible death” have completely sidestepped healing by hedging their bet with shares of the Med Mafia.

I could just as well have my wife help me; it’s all the same.

So your wife is going to set a compound fracture of your leg. Wow. Okay, now I KNOW you’re just a troll and pulling our collective leg. Thanks for the entertainment though :) You had us going for awhile.

Nonsense! I’ve said just the opposite. We constantly need to confess all of our faults to the father, and repent of them. This is a daily, hourly thing for all of us.

You just don’t bother reading my posts.

I had a hernia last year. A bulge in my lower abdomen. Hurt to lift anything up. I went to a doctor, and had surgery. Fixed it all up, good as new. Is it your position that i could have healed this through sanctification instead?

There is zero evidence that luke used anything but the commandments of Yeshua to heal. There is also zero evidence that Paul meant anything else by his comment.

You have to remember that most of Paul’s letters were translated from Hebrew to Greek in the late second century, by people with a Gnostic agenda.

I have no idea what you found on Scamazon; I try to avoid them for many reasons. What you posted was absolutely false.

The message of post #191 was absolutely false, and there was no need for any confusion, since I had posted the true link to the book with ISBN number several times, and the author’s name.

It is quite obvious what the intent of that post was.
