Rick Warren’s Son Commits Suicide

ick Warren’s son has taken his own life. Matthew Warren, 27, had struggled with mental illness before his death.

Evangelist Greg Laurie posted an e-mail the Saddleback Church pastor sent to this staff: “Only those closest knew that he (Matthew) struggled from birth with mental illness, dark holes of depression, and even suicidal thoughts. In spite of America’s best doctors, meds, counselors, and prayers for healing, the torture of mental illness never subsided. Today, after a fun evening together with Kay and me, in a momentary wave of despair at his home, he took his life.” Click here to read a prayer request Rick Warren e-mailed to his staff.

Prayers and condolences are flooding into Warren’s Facebook page. And Laurie also expressed his heartfelt pain over Warren’s loss.

Dangerous only to the adversary and his minions.

Would that be you?

“....what could have caused this?”

Attack. Satanic attack. He goes after the family members of effective pastors.

Prayers for Rick and his family.

Man, it’s so great to have persons (of all genders and) of all more or less crazy religious sects represented here today. WHAT A CROWD! WHAT A CROWD! The answer to a headache, according to one well known sect is not an aspirin and call me in the morning, but, of course, Jesus!

why do you think God gave us doctors and medicines?

Here we go with the “if doctors can’t cure it, it must be those DEEEEEMONS!” and we used to burn witches too!

Lets not go into the “its a sin...no its a disease...no its a sin” spin.
( oh, but it will go on here, sadly)

You cannot repent after death

If you are basing your salvation on your work of repenting for every single sin then you are lost. Yes, repentance is a way of life, but our salvation is not dependent on how good we are at repenting.

You must base your salvation on Christ's righteousness, not your own work of repenting or not repenting. It is God who saves us...not our own awareness of whether or not what we are doing is sin.

The answer to a headache, like any other condition, is to remove the cause.

An aspirin can cost you your life under some conditions, and you have no way of knowing as you open the bottle, if that will be your last aspirin.

Yes, lets go back to the middle ages!

And since many mental illnesses are caused by a chemical imbalance, and have been considered diseases like other physical diseases....why don’t we just forget doctors and medicine for , oh, say, pneumonia, high blood pressure, diabetes...............
and oh, lets not let the worthless docs get near an inflamed appendix and operate...Let it just explode. Must be a demon exploding.

Type 1 diabetes is a self rejection disorder that requires confession, and repentance of that self hatred. Insulin is a bandaid that will never bring healing.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, especially because i really like you. But if "insulin is a bandaid," then so are other medications. One cannot really pick and choose on which meds are "bandaids," right? Insulin bandaids keep people out of the grave. So can other medication bandaids.

Have you even seen any of the functional MRIs of the brains of people who have severe depressive disorder when the MRI is compared to a "normal" brain?

Have you ever seen someone who has vegetative depression because someone told them their faith wasn't strong enough so they quit taking their medication?

I'm not going to argue with you, but you are wrong. I just hope no one is influenced by your words. It could kill them.

Very true. Just as the period you typed after the word "aspirin" above could be the last period you ever typed, so much so that it is too late for you to read this very response.

I hear that Islam is real good at doing that.

Are you “purpose driven?”

No, i never read that book. I don't even know what the phrase means, although i occasionally hear people say it.

Are you aware of Warren’s departure from God’s word?

No, I barely know who he is.

Most churches have long recognized that mental illness is almost always nobody’s fault, and concerns that it is caused by demons are almost always wrong.

A superb example of this is found in pernicious anemia, the inability to absorb vitamin B12 in your food. People thus afflicted could become raving maniacs, in straightjackets and tied to their beds, insane 24 hours a day until they died. Vitamin B12 is essential for every living cell in your body.

In any event, when a liquid B12 shot was developed, the change in the victims of pernicious anemia was amazing to see. A madwoman (since it mostly affects women), would be screaming, straining at her restraints, incoherent, every voluntary muscle tense. As soon as she was injected in the arm, within seconds her arm relaxed, and you could see her muscles relax as it flowed through her body, until she was completely calm.

Then she would open her eyes, utterly puzzled, and say, “Where am I? Who are you people?” or words to that effect, before wondering why she was restrained and wanting to see her family. Thereafter every two or three weeks, she would get another shot and be right as rain for the rest of her life.

But that was easy. Chronic depression, the most common mental illness, is often exceedingly hard to treat. And when people rapidly cycle into depression, called manic depression, someone who was bright, cheery, gregarious, smart, and fun to be around one moment, will be taken down with severe depression, stripped of their joy, their energy, their strength, their motivation to live.

In this state, despair reigns, movement is exhausting, bright lights, bright colors, and other people are just painful. They want to curl up in a ball in the dark and be nothing. They don’t want to even try anymore.

And yet we do know that everyone who has ever had so much as a single aspirin will indeed die one day.

What is sad about these posters is that THEIR “interpretation” of Christianity is still back in the middle ages when being sick( especially) mentally was thought to be a sin of the parents, or that the person was “praying enough”..thus laying guilt on someone on top of his sickness.

Moreover, they discourage people who are sick from getting help from medicine or doctors...biggest example:Christian Scientists who still don’t believe in blood transfusions.

Solution: don't ever have even a single aspirin, you'll live forever.

>> “Do you think there’s a chance God helped mankind develop insulin?” <<

.
Absolutely not!

God gave us his son, Yeshua, and thereby repentance and forgiveness of sin.

Ephesians 4:11 says “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers” but nowhere does he say that he gave us doctors, or drugs.

To the contrary, in Jeremiah 17 he says:

[5] Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

[6] For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

[7] Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

[8] For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Of course! I ran across one last week throwing out insults to a group of people he apparently hates. I glanced at his/her profile page and found a prayer and the word "God" half a dozen times. < sigh >
