Need prayers for daughter in law and son after miscarriage
Dec 21, 2013 | self

My daughter in law Kerrin lost her baby yesterday. She and my son Kevin were expecting the child in July. They do have two beautiful healthy children but this is the second miscarriage in two years. We had our family Christmas party last Sunday as many of us would be away for the actual date and Kerrin glowed with the look of a happy expectant mother. She has now began to heal saying her mom who passed three years ago will watch over the two babies she lost. Sure life will go on, but your prayers for our peace of mind will be very helpful.

Prayers up. Sounds like the exact situation my wife and I experienced ... two kids, followed by two miscarriages. Heart-wrenching, that’s for sure.

Prayers for Kerrin and Kevin at this time. Have you or they ever heard of Beginning Experience, a peer ministry for those who are grieving a loss?

It’s important to be clear about several things involving miscarriage and pregnancy.

To start with, about 1 in 4 pregnancies result in miscarriage. They happen most of all in a first pregnancy (which some have called “having a dry run to get the system working”), then in older women nearing the end of their child bearing years, then in women with other health issues or who are injured in some way.

Having more than one miscarriage *may* indicate an underlying health problem, or sometimes unusual incompatibility, in the woman or her husband. This means that a thorough exam is in order for both. Often if there is such a problem, it can be mitigated, though sometimes it cannot.

Even with a successful pregnancy, sometimes women have to be bedridden for months to avoid problems. Other times women can be highly active with no problem. Diet is extremely important during pregnancy, as well as the taking of many prescribed medicines.

The bottom line is that conceiving and carrying a baby to term is extraordinarily difficult, and it is surprising that we can do it at all.

Prayers, forgiveness and support are terribly important, no matter what happens.

Also that your grandson’s heart condition can be investigated and remedied.

A terrible cross to bear at ANY time of the year, but especially at Nativitytide.

But the "old, familiar carols" speak well to such pains:

0 Savior, Child of Mary,
Who felt our human woe;
Savior, King of Glory.
Who dost our weakness know,
Bring us at length, we pray.
To the bright courts of heaven
And to the endless day.

Prayers for your whole family. There really aren’t any appropriate words of consolation, only God’s saving Grace.

Same thing happened to my nephew and wife. Baby lost at 21 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. He was due in March. You’d think the doctor would have known that upon exams. Nothing wrong with baby, he was perfect, but her body couldn’t hold it. My sister is devastated, and my nephew wanted a son so much. He took it worse than his wife did.I am sorry for your loss.

I miscarried two babies between the birth of our firstborn and the adoption of our second: the hardest experiences I've had in my whole life, physically and emotionally. And spiritually, begging God to know why, not even understanding the depth of my emotional pain.

May God give your dear ones deep peace and trust.

Take seriously what epople are saying about underlying conditions. Sometimes it IS just the progesterone level. Sometimes various abnormal blood levels can be addressed by nutritional interventions, too.

A truly excellent resource:

State-of-the-art science, and yet a natural approach to female fertility issues.

May mercy enfold her, them, you.

Jamesie’s heart rate is 45 bpm and the bottom of the “normal” range for a three year old is 35 bpm. Because of their concerns two different doctors talked to my son and daughter in law about implanting a pacemaker - which is a scary thought when talking about a 3 year old.
If it was too fast the problem could be fixed with meds but too slow is something to worry about.
Thank you for your prayers and concern.
