I think understanding the Eucharist for real Catholics is an issue of maturity. With age you understand. Interestingly enough I have found that Jews learning about the Eucharists seem to be the religions that understand or somehow appreciate the Eucharist.
I believe that because our understanding of the Eucharist is so closely tied to the Passover and Exodus than many see it in terms of the Mosaic covenant.
