I am second generation Irish. County Cork.

...my origin is Protestant, from County Derry, Ulster Province...I am a convert to the Church at Rome...

The Real Presence is what separates Christ’s Church from the Protestants.

...careful with that statement...many Protestants assert the belief of the Presence of Christ at service, communion or otherwise...what our separated brethren do not accept is the oblationary nature of Holy Mass; Luther sought to obliterate reference to oblation in his worship...

Most Protestants are literal in their belief of Scripture, except on what the meaning of the word “IS” is.

...I have no clue as to what you mean by this...

I really thought your post to me implied that Christ is somehow sacrificed again in the Mass.

...not knowing your thought process, I won’t speculate as to why you thought that...but of course poor Protestant catechesis by inept preachers caused many Protestants to go about believing that of Catholics for a long time...and if you read many threads on this forum, you will see that many still do...

in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

...btw...manner of receipt of communion is not doctrinal...were it so, receipt in the hand would not be tolerated...receipt on the tongue is instead disciplinary praxis, again in recognition of enhanced reverance of the concept of Eucharist...

“Hello, is the office of the Archdiocese? We’re wondering if you have any deacons available to bring communion to one of our parishioners in a hospital?

...oh of course...we all know how liberal diocesan bishops are with their funds...I’m sure they’re perfectly willing to pay for the transportation of deacons to parts unknown for the purpose of distributing communion...

"Hello, is the office of the Archdiocese? We're wondering if you have any deacons available to bring communion to one of our parishioners in a hospital? Oh, that's great! Let me give you the address..."

Hello....the Archdiocese for my area is almost 120 miles away, so your suggestion is invalid in this area as well as others. Your suggestion works if you're in a large city that houses the Archdiocese but not in rural America.

I agree that there are more pressing issues than the manner of receiving.

I disagree that the manner the Holy Apostles received at the Last Supper is knowable or that their manner, were it known, should necessarily dictate our manner. We have a living Church that decides these things.

I also think that while one can find more pressing matters, the rubrics and posture matter a great deal. Our faith is what we do.
