While I was at the recent Napa Institute gathering, I got to know Kristina Arriaga, Executive Director of The Becket Fund, which defends religious freedom. They guided the Hobby Lobby decision to a good conclusion and for that we owe them a lot.
I had this note from them today. It included this:
[quote]
Dear Friends,
I grew up in a household where we were expected to pepper all tales with a bit of Cuban exaggeration. This was, after all, essential for good storytelling.
So, in a way, I wish I were making this up.
Within the IRS, there is, no lie, a Political Activities Referral Committee unit that investigates whether preachers have said something from the pulpit in violation of the IRS rules regarding preaching. It even has an acronym: PARC. How do I know this?

Prayers for those listening that their eyes will be opened and their ears will be opened.
I hope they take good notes.
It's a bit like hiring the KKK to spy on blacks, and expecting unbiased reports.
Thank you for this post
Wonder if they spy on black preachers telling their congregation who to vote for?
Preachers have talked politics for generations upon generations. Why? I believe it is because politics and the acors in them are selfish and their actions inherently evil more often than not. It’s my opinion that it is a preacher’s duty to speak from the pulpit about the evils of man when it affects us in our daily life. If they are committing actions that are hurting the community and his flock they have the right to know this. Evil men do not like thiis and they do not want to be voted out of office. This is what this is really about.
The FFRF is using twisted reasoning and aligning themselves with corrupt and evil politicians to achieve their goals in silencing the churches.
Isn’t there a method for concerned citizens to submit requests of which churches need monitored? If so, the IRS needs to be inundated with demands that minority churches that openly endorse Democrats and permit them to use their pulpits be monitored.
Eric Holder sent out his minions to political black and progressive churches to train the leadership how to be political without catching the eyes of the IRS.
There is no reason he wouldn’t put his spies or operatives to set up and punish opposition churches.
The unit investigates whether WHITE preachers have said something from the pulpit.
Do they need an entire unit to watch John Hagee?
Wow, wait ‘till the IRS finds out inner city churches have been preaching politics from the pulpit and using church transportation to bus voters to the polls for decades.
IRS: “Doing the Work of the Devil since 1918.”
Everyone knows the Black Church is Democrat Precinct Headquarters.
For reference, the KKK "is" the Democrats party since it's inception.
Their "(D)Senator Robert (KKK) Byrd" of West Virginia was one of their
leaders for decades. Leader of the (D) and (KKK).
Repeat often. The hypocrisy of the Democrat party knows no bounds. And this
is much more than just party, this is a branch of the Gov that has gone
politically rogue and does not fear the Congress or Senate.
Anyone who asserts we still live in a Constitutional Republic needs to be mercilessly mocked.
I stand corrected. I wrote yesterday that this was from a Johnson EO. But the article says it was a Johnson amendment in 1954 when he was Senate Majority Leader.
I was watching a Kennedy documentary and Rev Martin Luther King, Sr. endorsed first Nixon and then Kennedy in the 1960 election.
Churches can live without their tax-exempt status.
In your face America! - The IRS.
This is going to get ugly.
My RAT congressman regularly speaks in black churches. Not only that, but they pass the collection plate for him, and put it on tv.
Can, and should. Allowing the government to decide who is and who isn’t a church opens the door to ultimate governmental tyranny.
