Linton Hall Military School [Book author on abusive nuns at Linton Hall Military School]
Linton Hall Military School Alumni Memories Blog ^ | THURSDAY, MARCH 18, 2010 | Linton Hall Cadet

Posted on 10/10/2014 12:54:43 PM PDT by Diogenes99

At Linton Hall Military School, a boarding school for boys ages 6 to 16, nuns supervised showers, humiliated children who accidentally wet the bed, and beat children. Fortunately, the school ceased being a military boarding school many years ago, and the principal of the school is not a nun.

What is the point of the story? That an adult child who went to boarding school as a kid thinks the teachers were mean to him?

The feeling is probably mutual.

No. Two of them were sent to asylums. One spoke to non-existant people during class, the other tried to borrow a jet to fly us all the England. Others were just mean savage people everyone in class hated. Convents and monastaries long served as social sanitation facilities for people who did not belong in society. Its been fifty years and I still can’t say a sing!e good thing about those wretched, hateful women. I hope their deaths were awful. I mean every syllable I’ve written.

It was. They apparently hated everyone.

You ever been in a classroom of 12-year old psychos?

Try it sometime.

I post anonymously here, just as you do. And on your accusation that I believe you addressed to me that this is my thread and I have more than one account, you’re wrong on both counts. I just have come to recognize that the rule is being violated when people are personally attacked just for posting something negative towards the Catholic Church.

I read the article, waiting for the really bad stuff, and it never came. There was an older woman on EWTN we watched from time to time; she had a really thick accent, and she would refer to people like this author as cri—babbbies. She said the babbbies part really quickly, and kind of mumbled. Her pronunciation (and frequent repeats of the word) was hard to forget. Anyway, she came to mind when I read this post.

Something else I’d like to mention is that the accusation of “Catholic bashing” gets used a lot here, it seems whenever an article is posted that’s negative towards the Catholic Church, and I believe that’s a personal attack because I can say for myself that I believe Catholic doctrine is wrong and harmful in some ways, and I post from that sort of grave concern when I criticize Catholic belief as I do at times, not to “bash Catholics.” (And since I believe that a poster accused me of posting this thread under a second name, let me also just say for the record that I absolutely did not, and had nothing at all to do in any way with its creation).

It's not even all that "negative against the Catholic Church", all in all.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

You call that a rebuttal? lol -- it's more like confirmation! L.O.L.

Here's the book -->http://www.amazon.com/Linton-Hall-Military-School-Memories

Be sure to read all the reviews. Since the reviews come from Amazon verified purchasers of the book --- and bear witness of the veracity of the info.., if you wish to argue against the book, it doesn't look like anyone can depend upon saying it is fake or even inaccurate. There are several witnesses who confirm the information.

Here's another link -->http://lhmscadet.wordpress.com/page/3/ check out the notes from various alumnus, although one of those seems to be the writer linked to in the heading of this thread...

Hey EDINVA -- I just did some checking for veracity. It seems kosher, for many sources seem to agree on many details.

I began here-->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linton_Hall_School.

Having never heard of the place, and now taking a look, I see there have been more than a few books written about it, and repeated testimony of several items of complaint.

But it wasn't just the nuns who were cruel and heartless -- the kids themselves could be cruel too, one of them describing it in retrospect as being like "Lord of the Flies".

How much of this "checking for veracity" sort of thing you called for -- did YOU do before posting here? Some... maybe? Any?

It seems pretty obvious many of the deniers here -- who rushed in to dismiss the whole thing ---did not do much checking for "veracity", but chose to all but entirely dismiss it out-of-hand, or else whine about it being linked to here -- and then from some FRomans have come extra attack and insinuation aimed at persons here, including the nOOB.

Diogenes99, when I said nOOB -- that would be you, the "new guy".

So please, come back and tell us about yourself.

At the same time, I must provide a note of caution; this can be a tough crowd, and some of them will attempt to roll ya'. So you've gotta' be tough without being mean or abusive, if at all possible.

So tell us lamp-bringer -- what brought you to the pages of FreeRepublic?

You do see that some here have expressed suspicions (and rightfully enough so) for your having shown up -- and right off the bat posted a possibly provocative article (which could rub some folks the wrong way and obviously did, since they acted a lot like kitty-cats being led to a bathtub full of water, lol). Heck, couldn't you have faked it better...like hung around for a few days, or posted some innocent/reasonable enough replies to articles and/or comments -- and THEN went straight to the "religion forum" to post an article? I'm putting it that way to give a heads up to others here that you are likely NOT what we call a "retread", since it does not appear you know the forum culture well enough to know that hit-and-run from those not otherwise participants is frowned upon in this establishment.

One guy here is even being blamed for being YOU. But he is not...correct?

Isn't that true? Please read the thread -- but step away from the keyboard for a while before responding, and I hate to tell you, but new sign-ups oftentimes have their comments held under review -- so stay patient, be polite and stay calm, if you can.

May I ask -- were you a cadet at this facility? Do you know those who were?

I'm fishing around here for reason of why you chose to post this particular article.

If you are the author of the book...then go ahead and say so.

It might get a few around here wee-wee'd up, but it is possible they may get over it -- if you were to join in the conversation here rather than just hit-and-run posting of article.

That last aspect is bad form around these parts. Hardly anyone cares for what we here perceive to be outsiders coming along and taking advantage of the forum for their own personal ends and agenda.

Many of us here have more than a few years and sometimes hard miles behind us -- and we have all of us been marketed to and subjected to a plethora of attempts to influence and/or manipulate us, all of our lives.

But if you are the writer, or wish to share your own personal testimony concerning that place -- or other things, then by all means, go ahead and tell us. But beware. It's a tough crowd around this joint at times...hehheh...

If there is some other reason for choosing this article to post here, then tell us that. Something, anything, but -- tell us true.

Yes, it’s negative but could be much more so. I haven’t even gotten through the whole article yet, though. I read the excerpt and then started reading the comments and then got involved in the discussion, and with other things to do, too, I still haven’t gotten to the article’s end.
