Catholic bishops go liberal on sex:
Daily Mail ^ | 13 October 2014 | John Hall

Posted on 10/13/2014 5:20:53 AM PDT by Gamecock

Catholic bishops meeting to discuss 'family issues' at a two week summit have said unmarried couples living together can be 'positive', and gay relationships and divorces must be welcomed.

Displaying remarkably liberal attitudes for a Church famed for its conservatism, bishops meeting in the Vatican today also said that a couples' decision on the use of contraception should be respected.

>.a catholic calling the “vicar” of Christ an idiot. in the catholic worldview is that not eqivalent of calling Christ an idiot??<

...not in the least...there have been famous reprobates and mental defectives occupying the Seat of Peter...and there is no injunction against remarking upon the same, nor in not equating them with Christ...

...which, of course, if you had any notion of what you post, you would know...but since you don’t, well, one has no choice but to equate your post with idiocy...

from the catechism of the catholic church....

#936 “The Lord made St. Peter the visible foundation of his Church. He entrusted the keys of the Church to him. The bishop of the Church of Rome, successor to St. Peter, is head of the college of bishops, the Vicar of Christ and Pastor of the universal Church on earth.”

And regardless of what they tell us, over and over again, putting Scripture under Tradition is a recipe for disaster.

Not the authentic Tradition that comes from G-d. Scripture is, after all, nothing but a string of consonants.

Furthermore, liberal Catholicism is as against Catholic tradition as it is scripture.

I'm not fan of Catholic tradition, but a novel teaching by contemporary authorities is simply not tradition (which is by definition identical with what has been taught before). In this particular case the fault is not with Catholic tradition, but with contemporary authorities breaking with tradition.

Pope Francis is an idiot.

based on your catechism, you're calling Christ an idiot.

Not at all. Nowhere does the catechism say “the pope is Christ on earth.”

I presume you know what vicar means.

"vic·ar

ˈvikər/Submit

noun

(in the Roman Catholic Church) a representative or deputy of a bishop."

From the Latin "vicarious," ie second-hand. Christ's chief agent or representative.

The representative of Christ is not Christ Himself. To make the argument that Catholics believe the pope is Christ on earth is astoundingly absurd -- and DOA.

If the pope is the "representative" of Christ and acts/represents on His behalf, then you are calling Christ an idiot when you call His rep an idiot.

this is why Christ didn't build His church on a man. He built it on Peter's confession that Christ is the Son of God. He, Christ that is, is the rock the church is built upon. Not a failed man.

"If the pope is the "representative" of Christ and acts/represents on His behalf, then you are calling Christ an idiot when you call His rep an idiot."

The pope is SUPPOSED to act on Christ's behalf. As we see, he often does not. Calling one person an idiot does not extend beyond that person. The title is attached to his person alone.

So if he is not acting on Christ's behalf he can only be acting on Satan's behalf.

As you admit the pope doesn't always act on behalf of Christ then any claim to authority/teaching he has evaporates.

Again, this is why Christ did not build His church on a man. He built it on Himself...the One Who never fails.

True. It's one or the other.

"As you admit the pope doesn't always act on behalf of Christ then any claim to authority/teaching he has evaporates."

False. Who can say they are without sin?

Ah, more of the usual protestant ignorance.

You people seem to think the pope is God.

You may be right. I’m sure that the Daily Mail article contains true facts, although these can be taken out of context. I’ve found that this site will publish stories exposing the leftist agenda when others won’t, such as the English Inn keepers who were run out of business because they wouldn’t let to fags share a room in their home.
