So begins the Maskil of Asaph, Psalm 78. As synods and councils and elderships wrangle over things long ago settled by God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, I wanted to encourage fellow believers to find an audio bible they like and "baptize" their minds in the complex and glorious beauty of His Psalms.
I have been richly blessed by doing so while working and riding my bike. Music? Let me tell you, the Psalms are REAL music to a believer's ears. Though steeped in the era of Law, God's manifold wisdom and loving kindness are absolutely "fresh and green" to those of us in Christ. And you will find line after LINE of testimony pointing to Jesus!
Every facet of life and all spiritual issues imaginable are expounded upon. See for yourself..."taste and see that the LORD is good"!
If I could choose only one? Psalm 90: A prayer of Moses, the man of God.
Selah..
Good deal!
One way of reflecting on Psalm 90 might be to memorize it.
Psalms worship and praise CD’s. What a great idea.
Got any suggestions for anointed, spirit-filled CD’s?
I just listen to them on MP3. I bought the ESV Audio Bible read by David Cochran Heath. Excellent reading to my ears, but there are many others to suit.
“One way of reflecting on Psalm 90 might be to memorize it.”
Absolutely!
Wow. The Word of God is amazing!
Listening to the Psalms read, through the earbuds... an intriguing idea, now highly recommended.
Gratitude.
Lol, it does! He is greatly to be feared, and yet satisfies His own wrath through His Son. Manifold wisdom!
Good thread, but no audio for me.
I believe the reason people are doing all of the wrangling is that is what it takes to keep religion running strong.
Just like running a business, people get tired of the same old thing but if you show something new every day or two they will come in to see what`s new and maybe purchase it even if it is just junk.
Religion is one of the biggest money making businesses in the world so it is not likely that anything is going to change for the better.
I will have to admit Psalm 90 is a little deep for me, I prefer to read what Jesus said in the Gospels, I at least think I understand it better.
“Psalm 37 is one I need to resort to, at length.”
Glorious! That is a master class in trusting/relaxing in God for sure. Thank you and bless you!
I understand you. God’s Word is so rich it covers every angle. Listening, as I recommended, is more for savoring. It cannot replace study, but I feel it enhances it (I’m almost done with a study in Galatians, and the ten times or so I listened to it beforehand was a great help to get a lay of the land)..
Bless you in Christ as you read the Gospels!
Bless you in Christ as you read the Gospels!>>>>>
Thank you.
I didn’t especially enjoy my stint of several years in a private Baptist school as a child, and especially disliked the daily Bible study class. We were required to memorize whole passages of scripture and were tested upon it.
But now, almost 40 years later, those passages rise almost unbidden from memory and at times that can be rather surprising, always pertinent. The meaning and applicability of scripture expands as your life experiences expand, imho.
