Rick Santorum recently stopped by CP Voice to discuss a new documentary he helped produce titled "One Generation Away" which deals with the perceived erosion of religious freedom in America.
The 2012 Republican presidential candidate believes that if Christians don't fight for their religious freedom in America they could risk turning this country into a place that persecutes them.
"If we don't nip it here, then things get a lot worse," said Santorum to CP Voice. "It starts with a gradual erosion, you don't usually go from 0 to 60 in a few days when it comes to religious persecution. It's something that grows over time."
He used the example of pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer in Nazi Germany who served in the nation that gradually went from a sophisticated, Christian country to a place that persecuted Jews and Christians fighting for freedom from Hitler's totalitarian regime. Bonhoeffer chose to speak out during the beginning of the rise of the Nazi party and eventually lost his life when things in the country drastically changed in just 10 years' time

yeah it has - I think a stronger statement would have been to admit that and give examples - and maybe say something like “widespread” persecution is just a generation away, etc.

Has our president said one word about the atrocities committed against Christians in Iraq and Syria? Did he once mention Miriahm Ibrihim’s name when she was facing a death sentence for her faith in Sudan? Has there been any acknowledgement of Asia Bibi, sentenced to death in Pakistan for her Christain Faith.
The United States gives millions of dollars in aid to Sudan and Pakistan, so if Asia Bibi is executed that blood will be on the hands of all American taxpayers.
Christians are being chased out of the military, hounded by the IRS, forced to pay for abortions and harassed by government agencies throughout the nation.
The headline should actually read that Rick Santorum is one clue away from knowing what’s going on in the United States now.
Today, virtually all aspects of conventional power structure are arrayed against Christianity. Government, the judiciary, Politicians and a hundred plus concocted groups consisting of Muslims, LGBTQW, Organizing For’s..., Media, foreign interests and governments, Christianity Victims of all flavors - you name it. Even the US Constitution is morbidly interpreted to condemn it.
America has lost what secured its beginnings and ensuing success and promised its future. I fear what we can only look forward to are third and fourth world dreams now.
Coming down on homeschoolers will be one of the last things they try, actually.
We’re a cantankerous lot, and are likely to “throw down” before they’re ready to face such resistance.

In 2012 the left came up with a fantasy of Santorum wanting to outlaw birth control. Plenty of FReepers happily joined in. They knew it was a lie but they didn’t care because all that mattered was destroying Santorum.

I agree with Santorum. Defense of freedom and the first amendment is one of his strong suits.

I’m about to join the elite of Homeschooling. No way in hell will I send my two children to a gubmit brainwashing facility.
We don’t consider ourselves “elite” - just faithful.
