The Holy See Press Office announced on November 8 that Pope Francis has named Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States, as the prefect of the Apostolic Signatura.

Archbishop Mamberti replaces Cardinal Raymond Burke, who has served as prefect since 2008.

Born in Morocco in 1952, Archbishop Mamberti was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Ajaccio (France) in 1981. He earned degrees in civil and canon law and represented the Holy See as apostolic nuncio to Sudan (2002-06), apostolic delegate to Somalia (2002-04), and apostolic nuncio to Eritrea (2004-06). In 2006, Pope Benedict appointed him the Secretary for Relations with States, and thus the Vatican’s “foreign minister.”

As expected, Cardinal Burke, 66, has been named patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, succeeding Cardinal Paolo Sardi, who is 80.

Pray for Cardinal Burke. He is a good and holy man. He has been honest and courageous in in recent statements.

No reason has been given for his demotion.

How about offering prayers of reparation for this act by Pope Francis which is essentially a slap to God's face?

Burke should be pope and Francis should convert to protestantism before he does any more damage to the faith.

Sorry. This Baptist at least doesn’t want Francis unless Francis repents and promises to keep quiet.

Demotion indeed!

This is the Vatican equivalent of assigning a Marine Corps General to the Mess Kit Refurbishing Department in Twenty-Nine Palms, CA.

Ah well, maybe the Muslims will lay siege to Malta again and liven up Cardinal Burke's tenure.

***No reason has been given for his demotion.***

It’s simple. Pope Francis is telling Cardinal Burke, “I won.”

Saint Athanasius was excommunicated by a Pope and many other saints suffered because of popes. Let’s pray for Cardinal Burke. He is not alone. He (He, ICXC) is with him and we are strong with Him. Besides that, now it is clear, even for people like Mike Shea, who Francis really is.

Yes, God can and does bring good even out of evil. But let’s be honest. This demotion is a very bad development for the Church.

***No reason has been given for his demotion.*** It’s simple. Pope Francis is telling Cardinal Burke, “I won.”

Foolish move on his part. His close associations with the German Cardinals/Porno Publishers Marx and Kasper contrasted with his abusive treatment of Cardinal Burke, Staunch Defender of the Faith, make for a very ugly picture.

The only good I’m seeing right now is that the wheat is being separated from the chaff. The lines are being drawn and it is becoming clear which side our Shepherds are on. Are they true Shepherds, or just wolves in Shepherds’ clothing?

These recent developments are why Pope St. Pius X declared Modernism to be the “synthesis of all heresies.”
