In other words, Satan can corrupt our best intentions.
Lord have mercy on us.

Satan wants humans to worship anyone but Christ. That would include Mary, the "saints", the Pope, the Magisterium ...
Take the emphasis off Christ and Satan has won.

Catholics do not worship Mary or the saints or the Pope.
We only worship the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Where are you getting this mistaken information? Praying for you to get your facts right.

Amen. And yet I have gravitated to the Lord’s reference in the Revelation to “the so-called deep secrets of Satan”, as if highlighting how empty and worthless his “secrets” are.
Over time I have come to see the main problem is ME. I take the bait that, more often than not, is presented by the world, the flesh AND the devil. Satan is limited by God (thank you, Father), and he and his have been busy sowing The Lie for millennia. He has the power of our sin nature on “his side”, but if by the Spirit we put to death the misdeeds of the flesh, we will LIVE!
God gave us divine operating assets, all of which were won for us by Jesus Christ and given to us freely (when He ascended on high he led captivity captive and gave gifts to men...). We do have to USE them, though. Time for us all to suit up, brothers and sisters!

It sounds like he is describing the elder brother of the prodigal son.

The “prodigal son” was wrong to demand his inheritance early, then blow it all on debauchery. He was right to repent and return to his father.
The elder brother was right to remain faithful to his father. He was wrong to develop a prideful sense of superiority about it, and to disown his brother.

I don’t think Catholics (not one obviously) worship Mary.
At the same time, the dogma around her and the saints is not supported by Scripture.
But I’ll be the first to say the Catholics (and Mormons etc.) do lots of good works (at least since about 1800) even if their theology is messed up.

"Protestant troll." Troll? The good doctor is trying to help you escape the very things the OP claims detract from real piety. Your organization traffics in these distractions and he is rightly pointing out their harm. Read the Bible and you will notice that he is spot on.

Not I says the Catholic mother.

Doesn't this nail the liberal welfare hype of so many Dems...
Satan can take the beautiful love for the poor and corrupt it into an enslaving paternalism that locks them into dependency, or does not address their spiritual needs by speaking to them respectfully of their sins, or does not seek to deepen their spiritual and family lives. And thus the beautiful corporal works of mercy are either set at odds with the spiritual works of mercy or are considered adequate in themselves. Satan can send many to serve the poor, armed with half-truths and approaches that merely bandage deeper wounds without addressing them.

And when your theology is built around accusing other people of idolatry (while being completely blind to the idolatries in your own life) and thumping your own chest about the correctness of your own theological views, Satan has won twice over.
He's all about *pride*, remember.

Catholic theology is centered on God. Not messed up at all. Maybe you meant to use another word.

The Holy Catholic Church is not an “organization”, it doesn’t “traffic” and it encourages Bible study among Catholics. Geez, do Protestants (the `sola scriptura’ variety) really believe that Rome fears its nefarious rule will be overthrown by knowledge of the very Book that is the basis for worship of Jesus our Savior? That’s Godfather III stuff.
What else do you believe about Catholics? That we’re a bunch of drunks & our priests are perverts?
