Franklin Graham: Christians Should Never Deny Jesus Christ to Spare Their Own Lives
The Christian Post ^ | December 16, 2014| | MELISSA BARNHART

Posted on 12/16/2014 3:17:08 PM PST by Garfunkel Oates

From the article:

"The Rev. Franklin Graham says Christians should never deny Jesus Christ in order to spare their lives from slaughter by terrorists, such as ISIS, and further asserts that doing so would be a betrayal against martyrs who stood strong for their faith, despite persecution.

"Christians have been martyred going all the way back to the Romans when they fed them to the lions. We would be betraying every person who stood for their faith, who stood for Jesus Christ, if we turn our back on Jesus Christ. … I think we take a stand for our faith," Graham said on Fox News' "The Kelly File" when host Megyn Kelly asked if Christians should lie in order to save their lives when confronted with death at the hands of Islamic terrorists."

Abortion is a denial of God. We deny God every time we sin, but some denials cry up to heaven. To save your hide is the reason women (and their “men”) abort - so the same numbers will deny their God to save their hide.

They will likely get me in the end—but not while betraying the Lord. I hope to be surrounded by piles of hot brass and the bloody corpses of my enemies.

I wish I could say the same but I am afraid my fighting days are over, I hope it is quick.

Yes, I’m sure God would understand if someone’s love for their family, or feelings of responsibility towards them would not let them make that decision. He did forgive Peter, after all. However, that is the more worldly choice to make in that situation.

Jesus said if anyone loves their family more than Him, they are not worthy of Him. Peter's denial took place before he received the Holy Spirit. There isn't any example of a denial after the Holy Spirit is given to the church.

I was in the 5th grade when I saw the movie “Quo Vadis” which depicted the persecution of the early Christians under emperor Nero.

Since then I have prayed the God would not put me to the test, but if such a thing would come to me, that He would give me the courage to affirm my belief in Him and face a martyr’s death.

The last line of the Our Father is ‘deliver us from evil”. When we say this prayer, we need to really think about evil for what it is, not some minor sin, but evil emanating from a Satanic force. God wants us to affirm him before our fellow men/women. He has no patience with being lukewarm. That is why we need to pray daily and often.

When the Bible talks about denying God towards man, I don't think it means your next door neighbor Bob. I think it means "man" ie society, the government.

I don't think a nutjob with a gun deserves the common decency of an honest discourse about ones relationship with God.

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote a short story, "The Tragedy of the Korosco", about this very dilemma.

And it's just as plain about the danger of Islam, what Churchill called hydrophobia, as anything.

NOTHING has changed.

I don't think it means...

Good thing God doesn't enforce His plans on what we think. Nothing would ever be righteous.

Here's an idea--base your thoughts and plans on what God says, not on what you think.

It's always better to err on God's side than to see how far away you can get and still be saved.

When Peter tried to deter Jesus from the cross, Jesus said to him, “Get thee behind me Satan.” Garfunkal is playing the part of Satan.

We are called to be like Christ.

Christ did not lie to avoid the cross.

I would pray Christ's courage is in that situation.

Matthew 16:24
24Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. 25”For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26”For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?…
