That presumes that this is not hell, but I concur for many of our species...

Amazing! Some scientists don’t like hearing that, and so they have invented ridiculous things like “the multiverse” or a “fifth dimension.”
The scientists of today were the comic book writers of yesterday.

The odds that we are the leading edge are tantamount to saying we are alone in the universe. I would argue that the odds are astronomical (pun) that we are the leading edge. Much more likely that we are indeed alone. Speed of light is a barrier? How? The fact that we see quasars billions of light years away proves that the light got HERE. The nearest solar system is 4 or 5 light years away. AI doesn’t care about time, it improves with time. When AI arrives it signals back: NO LIFE FOUND, and moves on. More likely that future ships will catch and pass the first ships, arriving and waiting for their slower cousins.

Actually, considering the typical astro/evo scenario, advanced life should easily be 10 million years ahead of us is some areas of the universe. Possibly even a hundred million years. Our evolutionary process had many bumps and starts. Imagine a system that had a linear path to today... We are these pikers?

99% of all species that ever existed on the Earth are extinct... Man had nothing to do with that process.

Surprisingly (and pleasantly) enough the opening page of a neuroscience college text also explained how fine-tuned our planet is for our existence. It concluded the discussion with the fact that the discussion was outside the scope of empirical science.

Love this stuff.

Science has never been my “cup of tea.” But I can see that many people, including Monsignor Pope, are interested in it.

Reference to ‘man’ was exclusively relating to hell. Not sure where you’re coming from...

Science, outside the theory of evolution, which I have to give it to the expositors who always use “may be” and “chance” in the texts I’ve had to use, is totally awesome in revealing the handiwork of God. No one will have an excuse saying God is silent or hiding because we see His hand in everything around us and especially in us. Our brain and single cell structure is so complicated anyone who believes in chance is in true denial.

Yes, some things, like the square root of negative one seems ridiculous, but the math is there, at it most certainly exists.

All intelligent biological life forms build intelligent machines that then extinguish the biological creators.

There are a couple of problems in logical analysis that need to be addressed here. First, one logical fallacy is called “god in the gaps” which basically says, if no one knows the causes behind or is unable to explain an observation, this lack of knowledge is taken as proof of a supernatural being having created it. A second related logical fallacy is found in conformational bias. This is just the tendency to only see evidence that you want to see and blocking out or explaining away any evidence against you predetermined conclusion. Then, of course there are straw men (misstating your opponents position in terms favorable to your argument).

It is not just distance, but time, and both of them are enormous. Add to that “location” in the galaxy, in that Earth is in one of the Milky Way’s “backwaters”, where things are rather dull. A little offshoot to a big spiral arm.

Periodically there will be an event like a supernova, that sterilizes a big area in the galaxy. So even if there was an advanced civilization, occupying hundreds of worlds, it could have been wiped out within seconds of their realizing a problem. Every form of life including microbes would be dead.

There is no reason to believe that the Scriptures were ever intended—by either their human authors or the Holy Spirit—to teach scientific facts. It is unreasonable to believe that the Sun, the Moon, the stars, and the earth came into existence in a six-day period. There is ample evidence that it did not happen in that way.

That's why God says this:

Pro_3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

1Ti_6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

I think God just sits back and laughs watching us try to figure out how and why he made the Creation...Or even if he did...

The hundreds of billions of dollars people of the earth have wasted going into outer space is mind boggling...And what are they searching for??? The origin of life...

There's not a single thing with these space trips that has been a benefit for the inhabitants of the earth...I'd say that is 'science falsely so called'...

And the people digging in the ground trying to find the origin of life there...What have they concluded with any real evidence??? Nothing...More science falsely so called...

Finding minerals and creating chemicals to aid in healing and making life easier in general??? That's science...

Its orbit is a nearly perfect circle rather than an “eccentric” ellipse...

Being a fan of gravitational and orbital computer simulations, this one thing is an extremely difficult thing to achieve.

Let’s assume that no supernova is imminent in our little quadrant. I think the science supports the notion that a supernova in this area would be exceedingly rare. So, let’s likewise assume that we have millions of years left... in our little quadrant. There’s one, and we’re the only example we have.. So far.

That’s just supernovas. Earth has had five major extinctions, and several partial extinctions.

“Although there are 10—14 million species of life currently on the Earth, more than 99 percent of all species that ever lived on the planet are estimated to be extinct. Extinction occurs at an uneven rate.”

Searching for life has become a cultish fad in the field of space exploration, but it is just a sideshow. We’re going into space for the same reasons that we have found our way into every nook and cranny of Terra. . As for looking for life, we’ll know it when we see it.
