Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Fear not. That is the message David had for his son, Solomon. For many years, David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. But God told Him that specific job belonged to his son, Solomon. Solomon was young and inexperienced, and even though he knew he had a mandate from God, he was intimidated by the prospect of building a great house of worship, one that would be a dwelling place for the Most High. You can probably understand his apprehension.
But his father David had some good advice for him. He told his son, “Forget your fear. God is bigger than your problems. He is bigger than the temple you are going to build. He is bigger than any adversity that you might face. So just get busy and do your part and God will do the rest.”
Perhaps as this new year approaches, you have some changes that need to be made. Maybe you need a renovation in your marriage, finances, health, or emotions. Whatever your individual needs may be, notice the words of David, “Be strong and courageous, and do it. Fear not, be not dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you.”

God, I’m excited to see what You have planned for me this year. Whatever I face, I will not be intimidated. I will begin this year by seeing myself as You do — happy, healthy, and prosperous. Thank you for the gift of another year. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I agree and could say that about another religion that is promoted quite frequently on FR, but I know that would not be allowed.
What is posted by Vision concerning Mr. Osteen does not hurt anyone and may actually help someone.
If one is anti-Osteen, they should ignore the threads, that will speak volumes on its own.
We have. That is why there have usually been less than 5 replies. This is the most replies I have seen. It is posted but did not allow any discussion.
I think the major issue was the not being allowed to challenge any of his false teaching.
It’s one thing to post something and allow for discussion.
It’s another to use FR as a sounding board to promote any and all kinds of doctrines and stifle discussion that would challenge it.
I don’t see the purpose of FR as that of promoting unchallenged, any kind of teaching someone wants.
If it’s true, it can take the heat and prove it’s worth.
If it’s not true, there is value in exposing it and not allowing discussion prevents that.

What is your hangup with the concept of a Religion moderator?
It’s just a person who moderates the Religion forum. And no, Vision is not the RM.
I am under the impression there are other Religious Threads that are not open to “Discussion”?
Therefore, I see no reason why these types of threads should not be afforded the same type of protection.
You were always welcome to post something Mr. Osteen had said from a news standpoint and comment on his beliefs and teachings in that manner.
I think, for whatever reason, the rules changed today, and it was open season on Vision. But you can rest assured there will be no shortage of other religious threads, even those you cannot “discuss”.
Yeah, any dissenting opinion will be zotted quick.though he may be on vacation today. Can’t believe people fall for loonsteens scam. Its so obvious. I thought people on fr had more sense.
I think the issue has always been Osteen, not Vision.
This is a conservative, Christian-oriented forum, and it’s a pretty controversial thing for a member to post “devotionals” dedicated to a man who espouses increasingly anti-Christian sentiments, and who seems unable to stand up and uncompromisingly defend the Gospel. IMO things were always going to come to a head...it was just a matter of when.
As for Vision, he avoided dialogue, even on other Osteen threads when he was repeatedly pinged, and he stuck with Osteen, no matter what. Of course he was called on it.
His response tonight communicates volumes. He became indignant, insulted a Freeper’s Christianity, and fled the forum in a snit.
Agreed. It is time to oust loonsteen on this conservative political forum. He is not a christian charity or such, just a moneymaking scammer. One question though. Does loonsteen pay people to actively post his stuff, web link, etc on non religous sites like this to draw more donations? Does anyone know?

It's never a popular thing when someone only posts threads and never or almost never responds to them.
Hit and run posters have never been very highly regarded.

If I ever posted a thread which did not get any replies, I would get the hint that no one else agreed and would find another devotion and allow discussions. That is just my $.02.
I never was under the impression that the devotionals were dedicated to Mr. Osteen? They devotionals were from Mr. Osteen sent out to those who wish to receive them. Vision chose to share them, via FR, maybe with the thought that they might help someone?
Vision’s choice to answer or not, is his/her choice. If that upsets other Freepers, they should avoid the topic and/or user. It would not upset me, I would just move on.
I do think some people just look for a confrontation/fight. I don’t think Vision deserved the attacks tonight.

Oh my, what will the easily fooled ones do without an osteen thread, threads where discussion was not welcome, every day? Well, I suppose they could just dig deeper into their wallets and send even MORE money to the kid osteen and his little, ahem, ‘operation’. That might make up for the loss of the osteen threads. We will see. But since osteen believes Barry is doing a great job (GAG) and that he is also a Christian (PUKE) maybe we should cut him a little slack..............
