See, I don’t think the hugging of a transsexual in and of itself is what’s scandalous. I think the lack of clear Church teaching in connection with that hug is what’s scandalous.

If this was truly supposed to be a “private” meeting, it should have remained private.

If it is made public, then the conversation should be made public as well. Hopefully that conversation included making it quite clear to this man that he mortally sinned and must not marry and have a family with his “wife” (I honestly don’t know how one fixes a sex re-assignment....can that be reversed?)

Once public, this conversation should be made to help teach the world about the Catholic Faith (you know something a pope is responsible for doing)

Here we have a “private” (cough-cough) meeting and no indication that Francis told him anything of the sort. And that’s what makes it scandalous.

It’s a “teaching moment,” and it’s SCANDALOUS, but the Church’s actual teaching is found in the Scriptures, in the liturgy, and in magisterial documents.

There is a distinction between THE Catholic Church and A Catholic Church. There have always been local churches.

For about a century, MOST of the Catholic bishops in the world were heretics—Arians. Currently, MOST of the Catholic bishops in the United States insist that pro-abortion politicians must be given Communion—which means that most of the Catholic bishops in the U.S. teach that abortion, and the promotion of abortion, are not sinful.

As long as the Catholic Church still exists, and it teaches what it has always taught, Christ’s promise will have been kept.

I am reasonably certain that the priest told this woman (she is not a man) that she could not receive Communion while having sexual relations of some sort with another woman, or anybody.

I have never met a priest who would tell anybody “You’re going to hell,” or “You’re disgusting!” yet when these people come forth, they always have tales of priests screaming insults at them, etc.

What the Pope has done is undermine every priest in the world who tries to prevent people from receiving Communion sacrilegiously, and who tries to encourage sinners to repent.

You are absolutely right: If the Pope is going have a PUBLIC HUG with this woman, the Pope has an obligation to tell the world that he told her she cannot “marry” another woman, and cannot receive Communion while having some sort of “sexual” relations with this other woman.
