Brother Maynard with his Holy Hand grenade of Antioch could smite a roomful of diabolical villains.

My favorite story about Padre Pio doesn’t involve anything miraculous.

When terrorists were murdering people on the highways in Italy (I think this was around 1960), people all over the country were carrying pictures of Padre Pio for protection.

Padre Pio had to make a trip to Rome, and one of the fathers asked him: “Are you worried about the terrorists?”

Padre Pio said: “Oh, no! I have a picture of Padre Pio!”

People who want to ignore the Catholic Church simply have to keep themselves ignorant of the lives of the saints.

You forgot Saint Obama of ME! ME! ME!

His superpowers include destroying a two hundred year old Constitution single handedly; quickly and silently emasculating his opposition in Congress; single handedly, destroying what was the biggest economy in the world; and quietly destroying the heart of the most powerful military in the world.

I wish this were not so.

God can and does do miraculous things through His people...none of that surprises me. There are MANY people alive today who witnessed Christ acting through Padre Pio!!

I remember this documentary I saw when I was a kid about a Nun in Puerto Rico who could fly. She was called Sister Bertrille.

Is she a Saint?

...."People who want to ignore the Catholic Church simply have to keep themselves ignorant of the lives of the saints"....

It's because we aren't ignorant that we know those people's so called powers are a figment of the catholics churches imaginations.

There's so much falshood and trickery done over the centuries surrounding rediculous claims by catholics that it's 'easy' to dismiss their claims.

Rather like this guy does, who claims special powers. They're a dime a dozen

I thought this was going to mention some people from the Bible. For instance Samson who had super strength.

Both St. Augustine (of Hippo) and St. Thomas Aquinas are reputed to have been capable of self-powered flight or levitation as well.

I believe Sister Bertrille’s disqualifiers were the enthusiastic endorsements from characters she starred with in a prior TV show.

It was difficult for the Vatican committee to accept the recommendations of “Moondoggie”/Cliff Robertson: (”Gidget? She’s out of sight.” and “the Big Kahuna”/Burl Ives: (”Yeah man, she’s the ginchiest!”).

I wonder if St. Francis can fly. Remember how Superman would fly as if he were lying on his stomach on the ground, but of course he was thousands of feet in the air, or even in Outer Space, and with his arms out and hands in fists. In fact, if he flew fast enough, going in the opposite direction of the Earth’s rotation, he could go back in time.
So I wonder if Pope Francis can do that. If he can, I’ll bet he does it seated in a comfortable chair. Superman made it look like a lot of work.
