Full Title: Oprah Asked This Ex-Megachurch Pastor When Christianity Will Embrace Gay Relationships — and His Answer Seemed to Take Her By Surprise

Former megachurch pastor Rob Bell told TV host Oprah Winfrey that he believes Christian churches will become even more irrelevant if they fail to embrace gay relationships and that he sees the Christian umbrella becoming more favorable of homosexuality in the very near future.

When Winfrey asked when the church will come on board with same-sex relationships, Bell, the former pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville, Michigan, said that he believes that the time is “close” and that “we’re just moments away from the church accepting it,” according to the Christian Post.

“I think culture is already there and the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense, when you have in front of you flesh-and-blood people who are your brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, and co-workers and neighbors, and they love each other and just want to go through life with someone,” Bell said on OWN’s “Super Soul Sunday.”

Winfrey, who seemed somewhat surprised by this response, indicated that she has spoken with pastors who hold a very different view.

“You sound really progressive to me,” she said, with Bell’s wife, Kristen, chiming in to note that, while some churches are moving forward to embrace same-sex relationships, others are “regressing” and digging their heels in.

Bell and his wife appeared on the show to discuss their new book, “The ZimZum of Love: A New Way of Understanding Marriage.” The former preacher has a history of stirring theological controversy.

It’s beyond homosexuality. Satan is using it to condition us. The real problem is adultery and fornication and well, sin in general.
Pretending to marry is just a ruse to get us to accept it. Satan wants us to be willing to justify our behavior before God with a clean conscious.
Satan wants us to call God a liar to His face.

You know what? I think Isaac Newton is such a quack, that was what? 400 years Ago?

For Rob it all began with a string of “conversations”, that led to endless “questions”, with “answers” that proved it wasn’t the Spirit who started up conversations with him.

“Rob Bell just wants to be liked. He’s like the high school geek who wants to hang out with the cool guys.”

Actually, the geek’s done good for himself...in this world’s sense of “good”. Ascending the Pantheon to sup with Oprah? Success! I suspect he’s quite rich, as well, from his former run as megachurch pastor and author.

None of that matters when you are, in the end, going to have to give an account to Him with whom we have to do (who shows no partiality).

He was a failure as a pastor. The ONLY reason he has an audience is because he is saying what people want to hear. That doesn’t last very long.

Feelings based faith, a god of his own making. Scripture is our plumb line, Gods word endures forever.

Can we expect Bell to come out of the closet? This sounds so gay friendly that it makes me wonder. OTOH I have seen that Bell’s train car derail a while ago.

Satan has a good reason for saving this abomination’s onslaught until last. Humanity has finally come to the point where it thinks it’s smarter and more godlike than its Creator.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo refused to bow and thus were saved from the furnace. Everyone who bows to or condones this abomination will suffer the consequences, even by refusing to condemn it. It’s my opinion that Ministers who are charged with upholding G-d’s Infallible Word will suffer immeasurably for profaning His Holy Altars with abominable marriages and changing the meanings of infallible wisdom to suit mortal, worldly tastes for evil.

Sorry, guess again. It’s happening everywhere. All churches are heading down the “world friendly” road in order to stay afloat financially.

I can’t find a church in reasonable driving distance that will condemn homosexuality and I live in a relatively rural area.

I don’t know if Rob Bell considers himself a Christian. Can he agree with the Apostle’s Creed? Not likely if he disagrees with the written Word of God. No, Bell took a year to live and think as if there is no God. He came up for air and landed a gig with Oprah. He elevates his thoughts above the Truth of God’s word. I agree, the enemy is guiding him now and financial and fame are the temporary reward. His 15 minutes of fame will fade and he will still be Godless. But I will say a prayer for him to repent and return.

Maybe she should look closer to home like her church or maybe who she supports and ask who is a nut.

Will she say the same about the Koran and Islam, nah didn’t think so.

And the one world church continues to form. Look UP! when the true Church is gone I doubt it will even be missed. Except a few people might be vaguely aware the trouble makers are gone.....

Just this weekend our pastor talked about drunkenness, homosexuality, and sex outside of marriage. Hint - he didn’t speak favorably about any of them...He also said he wondered what attendance might be next week...he said it would be continued this week...we shall see where else he goes.

“Bell took a year to live and think as if there is no God.”

FYI, that was Ryan Bell, a former Seventh-day Adventist pastor.

But I do believe Rob Bell said he took time off to surf and hangout with all his friends. Cool friends, not mean like all those backwards Christian right wing nutjobs who hassled him about his progressive views on Hell and homosexual offenders!

What would be the point of attracting people to a “church” that rejects God’s word?

OH goodness! My mistake but they sound cut from same cloth. Thank you for the correction. All Bells look alike. ;)
