A lot of others stick to plain words, too ... and yet come up with vastly different outcomes. And yours is one of the most WILDLY OUTLANDISH ones that I’ve seen. I’ve got to grant you that.

You beat the two biggest American Cult groups ... Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Congratulations! ... :-) ...

Yeshua’s elect are the smallest group there is, and you think we are a cult.

LOL!

Matthew 15:24 scares the beans out of you, doesn’t it!

But its real, and not going away.

I was raised Lutheran and was actually quite the fan of Marin Luther and began reading up more on him. I’m sorry to say the more I read, the less I liked.

The same can be fairly argued regarding John Calvin except that the hyper-Calvinists are worse.

I think you’re “projecting” ... LOL ...

I have a cousin who has some weenie dogs and when she’s happy, she tells me the weenies are happy. If she’s nervous, the weenies are nervous. If she’s sad, the weenies are sad ... :-) ...

Don’t “project” ... and then you might see what is really going on ...

Oh VERY true. We are horrified by ISIS burning a pilot to death and call them demons. That’s what Calvin did to Michael Servetus for having the audacity to have different theological beliefs. Never an ounce of repentance for his life of cruelty. He was one evil animal.

John 6:66 Why did his disciples leave Him when he told them of what was a “figurative” teaching?

Some context:

On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”

Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

“You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” Then Jesus replied, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!” (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)

A couple of thoughts...Jesus was "thinning the herd" so to speak. Up until then he had thousands following him, many because he fed them and didn't charge for it, many because they liked hearing what he said and they wanted to get in on the ground floor when he set up his kingdom and the few, those that DID stay, remained because they believed he was who he claimed to be - the Christ, the Holy One of God.

Jesus actually DID explain what he meant BEFORE those disciples left, he said, "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” You may not realize this, but this discourse recorded in John 6 was at least two or three YEARS before the "Last Supper" the night Jesus was betrayed. There is no record of the Apostles with Jesus celebrating the "Eucharist" until that night before the crucifixion.

What Jesus was teaching in John 6 and throughout the rest of his ministry was that HE was the bread of life, the water of life, and all those who believed in Him would be saved. This is why Christians have always used the observance of the Lord's Supper as a remembrance of His death for our sins and will continue to until he comes back. We also participate in this as a remembrance of how each one of us is part of His body, the one loaf, and we share in his ministry of reconciliation.

“No ‘church’ was ever born.

Got to be stupiest post of the year. Christ started a very visible church, and that church, whether the Jimmy Swaggart crowd wants to believe it or not, is the Catholic Church. All faiths born out of the Reformation teach error. End of story.

Nobody is “God’s People” if they reject Jesus Christ. I don’t care what race of people you come from. God is NOT a respecter of persons. Salvation is through Jesus alone. Not that you’re born a Jew. The New Testament pretty much clears that up.

The Pharisees were clearly not God’s People despite being outwardly the most pious of the Jews, but rejecting Jesus.

There is a remnant of Jews that are, the messianic Jews. But most are secular non practicing, or are following Kaballah/Talmud Judaism and rejecting Jesus as the Messiah.

"As a Lutheran, I am little offended because author didn’t mention Luther as he believed in the Real Presence also."

Don't feel bad. The "author" is listed above as "unknown." The website is a blog; can't find the author's name there, either. Anti-Catholic with a little Anti-Anglican thrown in for flavor- perhaps to add to the bitterness.

Kinda reminds me of the opening scene of "Macbeth"...

As Paul said, all Israel will be saved. The remnant (of Jews) that is left on earth after the Tribulation see their Messiah and they accept Him ... all Israel is saved.

Right now, as we speak, we’re in the Dry Bones Prophecy for Israel. They’re still dead (for the most part) to the Messiah of Israel. But they won’t be when they get to the time that Paul was talking about when all Israel is saved.

"In John 6:64 the word "flesh" is not used in the same sense as in John 6:53-59. It is being used more in the Pauline sense, in which it is contrasted with "spirit". The contrast is between unaided nature and nature elevated by grace. Compare John 3:6: "What is born by natural birth is a thing of nature, what is born of spiritual birth is a thing of spirit." Christ detects in some of His listeners an unsupernatural attitude that looks for earthly rewards and that turns away from His teaching on the Eucharist. When He says "the flesh is of no avail", He does not mean "My flesh" — that would contradict His immediately prior remarks. He means instead carnal understanding, as distinguished from spiritual.

Here’s something else for you ...

Q”What does it mean that the Jews are God’s chosen people?”
http://www.gotquestions.org/Gods-chosen-people.html

Answer: God’s Word affirms that the Jews are God’s chosen people: “You are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession” (Deuteronomy 7:6). From eternity past God knew that He would need to be born into the human race in order to save us from the spiritually dead condition that we were in (Ephesians 1—2; Genesis 3). God had planned from the beginning to be born into a very small nation or race of people called the Jews. The Old Testament tells the story of how God set about creating, distinguishing, and preserving that race.

The ultimate goal of God’s choice of the Jews as His chosen people was to produce the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who would be the Savior of the world. Jesus had to come from some nation or people, and God chose Israel. God first promised the Savior/Messiah after Adam and Eve sinned (Genesis 3). Later, God specified that the Messiah would come from the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 12). Later still, He narrowed the Messiah’s ancestry to the line of David (2 Samuel 7). Throughout their history, the people of Israel were aware of their “chosen” status before God (see 1 Kings 3:8; 8:53; Psalm 105:43; Isaiah 43:4; 65:9; and Amos 3:2). The fact that God has an eternal future for Israel is evident in that five sixths of the Bible bears directly or indirectly upon them—Jesus being the central figure who brought the Jews and Gentiles together (Ephesians 2:14).

The fact that the Jews are God’s chosen people means that they have been held to a high standard. From those who are given much, much is required (Luke 12:48), or as God said through one prophet, “You only have I chosen of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your sins” (Amos 3:2).

Israel’s responsibilities have included keeping and preserving the Law (Joshua 22:5); being “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (Exodus 19:6); and bringing “renown and praise and honor” to the Lord (Jeremiah 13:11). Their high calling is straight from the God who chose them out of all the nations of the earth.

Deuteronomy 7:6-8
“For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. “The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but because the LORD loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the LORD brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 14:2

2 Samuel 7:23-24
“And what one nation on the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people and to make a name for Himself, and to do a great thing for You and awesome things for Your land, before Your people whom You have redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, from nations and their gods? “For You have established for Yourself Your people Israel as Your own people forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.

1 Kings 8:53

Psalms 105:8-15
He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations, The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac. Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,

Psalms 135:4
For the LORD has chosen Jacob for Himself, Israel for His own possession.

Isaiah 41:8
“But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, Descendant of Abraham My friend,

Isaiah 43:1-3
But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. “For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place.

Isaiah 44:21
“Remember these things, O Jacob, And Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant, O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me.

Jeremiah 31:1-4
“At that time,” declares the LORD, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.” Thus says the LORD, “The people who survived the sword Found grace in the wilderness— Israel, when it went to find its rest.” The LORD appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.

Jeremiah 31:9-11
“With weeping they will come, And by supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk by streams of waters, On a straight path in which they will not stumble; For I am a father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn.” Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, And declare in the coastlands afar off, And say, “He who scattered Israel will gather him And keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.” For the LORD has ransomed Jacob And redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he.

Jeremiah 46:27-28
“But as for you, O Jacob My servant, do not fear, Nor be dismayed, O Israel! For, see, I am going to save you from afar, And your descendants from the land of their captivity; And Jacob will return and be undisturbed And secure, with no one making him tremble. “O Jacob My servant, do not fear,” declares the LORD, “For I am with you For I will make a full end of all the nations Where I have driven you, Yet I will not make a full end of you; But I will correct you properly And by no means leave you unpunished.”

Ezekiel 36:24-28
“For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land. “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 37:21-25
“Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king will be king for all of them; and they will no longer be two nations and no longer be divided into two kingdoms. “They will no longer defile themselves with their idols, or with their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. And they will be My people, and I will be their God.

Joel 3:1-2
“For behold, in those days and at that time, When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations And bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat Then I will enter into judgment with them there On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; And they have divided up My land.

Amos 3:1-2
Hear this word which the LORD has spoken against you, sons of Israel, against the entire family which He brought up from the land of Egypt: “You only have I chosen among all the families of the earth; Therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”

Romans 11:1-2
I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?

Hebrews 8:8-13
For finding fault with them, He says, “BEHOLD, DAYS ARE COMING, SAYS THE LORD, WHEN I WILL EFFECT A NEW COVENANT WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND WITH THE HOUSE OF JUDAH; NOT LIKE THE COVENANT WHICH I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS ON THE DAY WHEN I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO LEAD THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT; FOR THEY DID NOT CONTINUE IN MY COVENANT, AND I DID NOT CARE FOR THEM, SAYS THE LORD. “FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS, AND I WILL WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS. AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.

He has over time pared off unbelievers from “that race”. And you know that to be true from both the OT and the NT.

You cannot argue from Scripture that every single Jewish person is in Heaven. You will deny Jesus’ actual account of Lazarus and the (jewish) rich man. It wasn’t a mere parable because real people are never used in parables.

“His People” does not mean “every single one if them”.

all israel is all believers. the believing gentiles are grafted onto the tree.

all unbelievers no matter who they are, are not believers and thus were either pruned off the tree, or never were a part of the tree.
