Fortunately I don’t rely on the mainstream media for my info on what’s going on in Rome. I hope you don’t either.

yes adultery is a sin but what scripture is it mentioned where they can’t take Communuion.
I’ll read any scripture you give to understand why this is important to Catholics.

You are supposed to be in a state of grace to take communion

1 Cor 11:27-30 talks about why it’s important not to take communion in an ongoing state of serious sin.

Since the early Church, based on Scripture Christians have believed that there are venial sins and mortal sins (I John 5:16-18), and that 1 Corinthians 11 is in reference to mortal sins and the reception of Holy Communion:

27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord.[l] 28 A person should examine himself,[m] and so eat the bread and drink the cup. 29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment[n] on himself. 30 That is why many among you are ill and infirm, and a considerable number are dying. 31

Christ said in scripture that he who divorces and marries another commits adultery. From earliest times Christians have believed that adultery is one of those sinse described in I John 5:16-18.

Where does this leave us?

Dunno. I've had long hard talks with my spiritual director about this question. For now all we can do is watch, pray, fast and hope that God prevents this. I don't think it will be prevented though.

St. Paul says one should not partake of communion unworthily, i.e., in a state of mortal sin: I Cor. 11:27: “Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.”

curious. where does it say in the Bible that divorced/remarried Christians can’t take communion? Or is that a Catholic rule??

divorced and remarried Catholics are living in a state of adultry...a mortal sin....therefore not eligible for the Eucharist.

Annulment: "a legal procedure for declaring a marriage null and void." Oooopps!!!....Forgot.... "only God can change God's law"

You discover that the girl you married was adopted....and she is actually your sister.....is an annulment O.K. then???

That my friend is a man made decision. I always wonder what Christ would say to the practice of denying a sinner communion with him.

.... are living in a state of adultry...a mortal sin....

And where is it in scripture, that lists and defines these mortal sins, which are used to keep you from Christ?

Good point. There are other sins worse than divorced/remarried.

It bothersome that a person never married but shacking up can take Catholic Communion while a person who’s been divorced/remarried but is now a practicing Catholic is prohibited from Communion.

A person who is shacking up shouldn’t be presenting themselves for Communion either.

The thing is the Modernists have been making changes since Vatican II. The two biggies being religious liberty and false ecumenism. Too many people refuse to see this.

Also, with respect to Catholic law, JPII has already changed communion laws. Non-Catholics were never allowed to receive communion under any circumstances....and now they do (albeit with some restrictions). Also, in practice, how many pro-abortionists receive communion with the full consent of the hierarchy? Perhaps this will change officially too. So, the slippery slope had already begun before Francis.

I will make another prediction: Before Francis retires, he will allow all non-Catholic Christians to receive communion.

"You discover that the girl you married was adopted....and she is actually your sister.....is an annulment O.K. then???"

You are demonstrating that it is "man" that is setting up the "rules" on Marriage here on earth. Ultimately, it will be "God" who decides the case on each individual's circumstances.

The Pope is correct in the direction that he is going!
