Presbyterians And Homosexuals Together: The Crisis Of Christ And Culture
The Aquila Report ^ | 3/23/15 | R. Scott Clark

Posted on 03/23/2015 8:46:15 PM PDT by ReformationFan

From its inception Christianity was a marginalized not a culturally powerful or influential religion.

With the death of the mainlines we’re witnessing the last gasp of the informal Constantinianism in America, the gathering of cultural elites in the narthex of tall-steeple PCUSA congregations. The informal coalition of cultural and political power brokers in and with the mainline is dead. The WWII generation was probably the last to care to identify with the mainline or to seek the approval of the mainline. Now that the culture has got what it wanted, capitulation, even the NYT will ignore it. There is no reason to pay attention to the PCUSA. They aren’t saying anything that can’t be found in the Times. The point of paying attention to the PCUSA was to humiliate it into ideological conformity.

The New York Times reported yesterday that a sufficient number of presbyteries of the liberal, mainline Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) have voted to approve gay marriage that church order Book of Order will, beginning in June of this year, define marriage no longer as between a man and a woman but between “two people, traditionally a man and a woman.” Those who still believe in nature may be glad that the language still stipulates human beings but we may also wonder how long thatshibboleth will stand now that America’s mainline Presbyterian body has capitulated to the cultural demand that marriage be re-defined in terms of affection and consent. The article notes two interesting facts. First, though the PCUSA is usually said to be 2.4 million members, the article described the PCUSA as having 1.8 million members. Second, it attributed the loss of 600,000 members since 2011 to the leftward move of the denomination and particularly to the 2011 decision to ordain homosexuals and lesbians as ministers.

What Bible does the Presbyterian church read? Not the one that includes this passage, Rom 1:18-32: The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Just thought I would menion it.

Wolf among the sheep. There is no Christ within them.

“have voted to approve gay marriage “

Read the Bible much? I think these “holy” men are pretty clear that they consider God’s opinion on the matter, if they’ve even bothered to consult Him, to be irrelevant.

Obviously, they are no longer a Christian church. Satan is in the pulpit. They have become infested the same as the Episcopalians. If I were a member, I would withdraw immediately.

I contend that Romans 1:18-32 is the beginning of the Gospel, not John 3:16.

You have to have "perish" established before you can offer a lifeline.

Well, have the Presbyterians been dropping in numbers to justify such a change. They can do what they wish, but the big growing trend in the U.S. and the world is agnosticism and atheism. I have a hard time seeing where they can hope to actually appease that genuinely growing percentage of the population?

Exactly. I fail to see how they think this will attract more members and more tithes and offerings for them. Bible believing Presbyterians are leaving in droves. And why would liberal agnostics and atheists support a religion with their time and money when they can be liberal agnostics and atheists anyway for free without that extra time and commitment?

I agree but not all Presbyterians are like the PCUSA.
