Will you be celebrating Easter, as well as celebrating the Assumption of Mary into heaven bodily?

But dropping in for a drive-by makes it worth it

My last memory form the Bible of Mary was when Jesus put Mary in the hands of one of the Disciples. Am I wrong?

She is referenced in the first chapter of Acts as being in the upper room with the other disciples, praying and waiting for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
But I understand your point. I get the impression that this post was intended to stir up trouble, and promote bickering.

My sainted mother was born in Rome on August 15, 1927, the day of the celebration of the Assumption by my Catholic brethren, and was named Assunta for that day.

I will celebrate the resurrection of Christ without making any presumptions or “assumptions” as to the actual day or date.

And I will be buying half-priced Cadbury eggs the next day, I assume. :-)

Oh, sigh, what is that, a reference to something that is not in the Catechism, or in any way associated with the teachings of the Church but carried out by humans acting in the Name of the Church?

You expect the members of the Church, the clergy, to be perfect here on earth, get a clue- they are the most heavily tempted and harshly judged.

Same rules will apply to the US after BO leaves, and this corrupt senate.

Are they American patriots, following the Constitution? OR is the country salvageable because they are just people and we still have the constitution?

Forget it.

If you don’t like the church, then don’t.

But to try put down the Church without finding out what you are talking about is like anyone criticizing Cruz.

the church won’t change because of someones ignorant snarkiness. you’ll have to do a lot better than that.

Read Humanae Vitae, seriously.

In which book of the Bible, what ever Bible you choose, will I find a description of the resurrection of Mary, on which to base my 'faith' in that event?

These endless discussions show up anytime I am on the site.
Seeing the same few people make the same arguments in dozens and dozens of threads over the months and years gets old.

That’s a painting of Augustinian Friar/Priest/Theologian and Professor Martin Luther nailing his Ninety-Five Theses to the church door in Wittenberg.

This will be my first Easter worship in over 8 years. Recently, I have rediscovered Christ as my personal savior. Though my faith is not catholic, I still praise his resurrection to be my savior.

Careful, 2D:

from http://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm?id=788

]Luther’s]views of Mary as Mother of God and as ever-Virgin were identical to those in Catholicism, and his opinions on the Immaculate Conception, Mary’s “Spiritual Motherhood” and the use of the “Hail Mary” were substantially the same. He didn’t deny the Assumption (he certainly didn’t hesitate to rail against doctrines he opposed!), and venerated Mary in a very touching fashion which, as far as it goes, is not at all contrary to Catholic piety.

There is no proof that Jesus...(was) resurrected

Try reading Josh McDowell's "Evidence That Demands A Verdict"

He leaves out Mary though.

Mary is no closer to God than any other person, past or present.

When referring to Deity, the Bible mentions only the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; cf. Matthew 3:16-17; John 10:30; 17:21; Acts 5:3-4). Mary is never mentioned in that context. Further, the heaven where God and His angels reside (Deuteronomy 10:14; 26:15; 1 Kings 8:27,30) is not yet inhabited by human beings. Jesus said: “No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man” (John 3:13, emp. added). These words represent the truth about all the people who have left this world (including Mary). No one is in heaven because heaven is reserved for all faithful servants of God since time began (cf. John 14:1-3). Not until after the Second Coming of Christ and the final Judgment will it become home for the faithful, both living and dead (Matthew 25:31-46;
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

The idea that Mary occupies a special place in heaven, close to the Son, is a tradition. It shows a lack of understanding concerning biblical teachings on the afterlife. In Luke 16:19-31, Jesus explained that the dead (saved and lost) go to a place called “hades” (16:23, Hebrew sheol)—a spiritual waiting place that separates the consolation of the righteous (referred to as “paradise,” cf. Luke 23:43) from the torment of the wicked. In hades, the righteous begin to taste part of the joy that awaits them in eternity, while the wicked begin to taste part of the suffering that awaits them. Hades is not the dwelling place of God; God dwells in heaven. Mary, along with Abraham and other faithful servants from the past, is waiting in hades until its dead are delivered up, when the Lord returns to judge each man and woman according to his or her works (Revelation 20:13). In this spiritual realm that precedes heaven, there is nothing that those who are there can do for those who are here (Luke 16:27-31).

I will celebrate Jesus’s resurrection. The other is a false belief.

There is no proof that Jesus ... rose from the dead,

1 Corinthians 15:14 (AMP)

14 And if Christ has not risen, then our preaching is in vain [it amounts to nothing] and your faith is devoid of truth and is fruitless (without effect, empty, imaginary, and unfounded).

BTW - if you can't trust the Word of God, who or what can you trust?

intended to stir up trouble, and promote bickering.

You can find almost any idea on the internet. Some wild ideas even facts that almost support them. It is hard not to bite on some of them. I need to learn to let most of them lay and move on.

Try reading Josh McDowell's "Evidence That Demands A Verdict"

I also read "More Evidence the Demands a Verdict" He set out to disprove Biblical Christianity. Look what happened to him.

But to try put down the Church without finding out what you are talking about is like anyone criticizing Cruz.

What a stupid statement — there are perfectly valid reasons to criticize Cruz, he's human after all, and every criticism is not necessarily unfounded. (e.g. Nancy Pelosi and her abortion stance NOT earning her a very public and very real excommunication.)

Mixing Pelosi in there?

I did mean that anyone criticizing Cruz this week over nonsensical things out if panic

If you criticize the church you have to know it is criticizing 2000 yrs of theology

Like criticizing Cruz’s position is criticizing the constitution

It’s not doctrine I’m just illustrating a point
