NO ONE SPEAKS FOR GOD. ONLY GOD CAN SPEAK FOR GOD.

Oh?

Them first popes are ALWAYS messing SOMETHING up!!

1 Peter 4:11
If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God.

An obvious warning that people would come along and preach against the Catholic church and the warning was correct....

What a fatheaded; egotistical statement!

I wonder who posted it?

What do you even need scripture for except for showing off? I thought you had the Holy Spirit directing your every path?

Protestants only know what their televangelists tell them.

Did you learn this pearl of wisdom in your catechism classes?

"One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved, in which the priest himself is the sacrifice, Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the species of bread and wine; the bread (changed) into His body by the divine power of transubstantiation, and the wine into the blood, so that to accomplish the mystery of unity we ourselves receive from His (nature) what He Himself received from ours." — Pope Innocent III and Lateran Council IV (A.D. 1215)

Therefore, if anyone says that it is not by the institution of Christ the lord himself (that is to say, by divine law) that blessed Peter should have perpetual successors in the primacy over the whole Church; or that the Roman Pontiff is not the successor of blessed Peter in this primacy: let him be anathema. — Vatican 1, Ses. 4, Cp. 1

You're really grasping there. Particularly since Catholicism discourages parishioners from reading Scripture themselves and tell them to trust Church tradition.

I learned it watching FR Protestants. As long as they agree John 3:16 means the moon is made of green cheese, they'll all swear to it, and insult your faith for not agreeing.

How perfectly ironic! Catholic source, please?

I call it sickening. But evil is deceptive and he is in full reign. Look at America, we’re next. Why are we Christians not trying to fight off the diabolical instead of each other. I guess that is one reason we Catholics get frustrated with these kinds of threads, satan is destroying the world and all of you are concerned is if I pray a rosary or not. Don’t you all get it, this is what satan wants, keeping the focus off of him. Wake up, people!

Satan is using Mary worship to deflect catholics from the truth. Just examine all of catholic writings regarding Mary. Look at the prayers dedicated to Mary. Look at the reliance upon Mary for salvation by cathokics.

Fatima is a prime example. The image that appeared said to build a church for her. Would the real Mary say that??

Christians post on this topic in hopes catholics see the truth.

Yes. They encourage the 5 non-canonical books that were added to the Bible.

Your comment: “No I love Catholics...I love them enough to spend time posting here so they can understand the deception they have been taught as fact... and hopefully send them to the Bible for the answer “

Perhaps you just like playing the children's game of king of the mountain. Seeing if you can get to the top by spreading negative attitudes toward the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church.

Basically, the Catholic Church has a leader and speaks with authority as delegated by Jesus Christ and will be inspired by the Holy Spirit until the end.

And the other Churches have no leader who speaks with church authority about matters of faith and morals. Apparently, anyone can form a new church and collect vast sums of money.

As the Catholic church has human leaders that are both saints and sinners, and yet The Catholic Church continues to survive and spread the Good News. Could we do it better? Yes, and it takes time to bring people to understand and accept God's gift of Love to us and return their love to God and our neighbor. Do all Catholics fully understand and accept God's Love? Probably no.

If your Faith in God is the Truth, then go spread the Good News about God and thank the Catholic Church for preparing, documenting and preserving the Bible for your use. Also consider that the Catholic Church has provided the Word of God to all as inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Your reliance on Scripture alone ignores that Jesus Christ appointed a leader of His church and that Scripture came from sacred tradition and the leaders of the Catholic Church.

The author does not believe in the authority of the papacy and the magisterium, yet acknowledges Peter as the leader of the Church. Somehow he fails to acknowledge that the Scriptures came both from the Church leaders - the Popes and Bishops and from the magisterium.

We go through the bible just about completely every 3 years. Daily a Old Testament reading, a psalm, a New Testament reading and a Gospel reading is read.

Not this hoary old canard again!

The Old Testament reading cycle repeats itself after two years' time, and the New Testament reading cycle repeats itself after three years' time. A daily mass-attending Catholic will, in two years' time, only hear 3378 verses out of the Old Testament (about 13.5%), and in three years' time hear 5689 verses (about 71.5%) of the New Testament. Add both of those together, and you only get 9067 verses, when the Bible has 33001 verses total. That means Catholics never hear more than 27.5% of the Bible, even in three years of daily mass.

Do the math for yourself - see the thread Lectionary Statistics - How much of the Bible is included in the Lectionary for Mass? (Popquiz!)
