So do you believe there should be some sort of religion test for public office?

Perhaps you missed some of the facts.

It's time to kneel down and pray for our nation

ROBERTS, C. J., filed a dissenting opinion, in which SCALIA and THOMAS, JJ., joined.

SCALIA, J., filed a dissenting opinion, in which THOMAS, J., joined.

THOMAS, J., filed a dissenting opinion, in which SCALIA, J., joined.

ALITO, J., filed a dissenting opinion, in which SCALIA and THOMAS, JJ., joined.

The only dissenting Catholic was Kennedy, and I don't know what happened to his brain.

Sotomayor is supposedly a lesbian, nominated by Obama. Yes, she is a CINO.

Please check that short description in the link.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

That seems very clear to me. Extremely clear.

The only Catholic was Kennedy who was in the majority, and I don’t know what happened to his brain.

Sorry about the previous mistake.

....”Revelation tells us that even most churches will join the anti-Christ before the end comes”.....

A point that’s often overlooked......

No. Did I say or intimate that? God knows the hearts of men and women.

I am just exposing the hypocrisy of the Roman Catholics who claim such "high ground" as to be the only path to God. As a Christian, familiar with Scripture, filled by the Holy Spirit, I see them for what they do, not their membership.

The Roman Catholic cult honors them...

Hebrews 4: 12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

And He gave only to Peter and His successors the authority to “go forth and teach” as to what He meant by saying “I am the way and the truth and the life.”

If this is so readily self evident then we don’t need 30,000 brands of Protestantism.

Yes, so we should just fall in line with the religion that gave the world the Rule of Harlots, from Pope Sergius 111 to John X11. As you may know, the supposed ‘Holy Catholic Church’ was under the leadership of Theodora and her murderous daughter Morozia and her harlot sisters from 904 to 963. And that is the ‘holy’ church to which we are to bow in this age, s if that religion has remained clean since John worte the Revelation. Riiight The rot in Rome wqas so bad that by the time of Hildebrand not a single clergy in Rome was not involved with harlots and or thievery. Yes, the whole world should join itself to that church of the satanic cool. Then we can all get along.

I am not a Catholic, nor could I ever be, but I do not think that this post deserves to be attacked with such vitriol.

Look, I like Morgana. She's a wonderful FReeper and I've avoided in the past getting in discussions with her on religion for that reason, plus some.

I actually think we're on the same side but this post itself is divisive.

Is there not vitriol in the posting of the very thread itself? Should a *Why I'm not a Protestant* post stand unchallenged?

FWIW, I am NOT a Protestant. Nor do I identify as any denominational affiliation, much to the chagrin of many Catholics. It simply pushes them over the edge that I don't, and that's not the reason I do it. It just happens to be a side benefit.

So I will reiterate my position here....

Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone and by grace through faith. It is NOT because of denominational affiliation or membership. Religion is not the way to God, relationship is.

It was the publican who went away justified, not the Pharisee who bragged on his works.

I will never post a (fill in the blank church) is the one true church and you have to belong to it to be saved thread, and I would oppose any non-Catholic who posted such a thread as much as I oppose it with Catholics.

The only true church is the spiritual body of believers who have been born again/born from above by God. It is not located or headquartered in any one location on this planet.

Then you should be aware that 8.3% of Christ's inner circle were pretty bad, even to the point of turning him over to His enemies. Using your criteria no one should follow Christ.

Thank you for that uplifting verse...

You are welcome. Just as there is one LORD, one faith, and one baptism, there is one holy catholic and apostolic church. If one is being saved by the Messiah, one will love the body of Messiah, and do it nor harm, which is the one holy catholic apostolic church. One can only love according to the measure of one's faith and understanding. That is understood.

The Apostle Paul did that, and because of that was accounted the least of all the apostles and not worthy to be called an apostle. Yet he repented and is blessed.

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Wow! 8.3%! That equals ONE person, right?

Give up, FRiend. You have already lost and can't see the Truth. The Truth is found in Jesus Christ, not in some manmade institution and cult, as the Roman Catholic cult is best described.

Paul spoke to the Christians at Corinth about sexual immorality within the group. But, he prefaced the scolding by pleading for conformity among those Christians. He made it clear that we follow Christ, not Paul or Peter, or any other man...

1 Corinthians 1: 4 I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 5 For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge— 6 God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. 7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. 11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas”; still another, “I follow Christ.”

13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

Every group has it's bad actors, that includes every denomination, should we judge all of them by their members? What was the affiliation of those that passed Roe v. Wade?

Methodism Harry Blackmun

Presbyterianism Warren E. Burger,

Presbyterianism William O. Douglas

Catholic William J. Brennan, Jr.

Episcopalian, Potter Stewart

Episcopalian, Thurgood Marshall.

Presbyterian, Lewis Powell.

What judgments can we make from that?

Martin iii; Agepotus ii; John xii. Some line-up of popery, dude! All brought to power by a Prostitute and or her murderous daughters. Morozia even appointed her illegtimate son as one of the poses. Know which one? John xi. Her grandson pope was said to have been the most immoral pope to wear the robes. We might then skip over to Innocent iii who decreed ‘transubstation’ in the Eucharist (1198-1216), decreed himself the Vicar of God, not just the Vicar of Christ, and instituted the Inquisition. He gave you catholics your notion of infallibility, too. Yes, that sure looks like an unbroken chain of holy popery from Peter to now. And speaking of now, how ya liken the current socialist servant of antichrist, the talking mule?
