Re: 1 Corinthians 4:14-16.

I don't see Paul taking on the formal title of father but simply using an allegory of father and children showing Paul bringing them into the faith much like a father brings a child into life. Is their any evidence that Paul required someone to address him as father?

“It’s free online.”

Yes, I knew that but wanted the book in my hand to study. It’s over 600 pages.

Re: 1 Corinthians 4:14-16.

He is putting it to them as a warning and telling them he has begotten them through the gospel, so I see Paul as encouraging them to exalt him.

However that is only my view and if true or not the Catholic Church could still use that scripture as a reason to give the title of Fathers to their Priests which they certainly have done.

I am not insisting that Paul was wrong but only that this particular doctrine obviously did come from him.

1) St. Peter (33-67)

2) St. Linus (67-76)

And here’s where the problem lies. Linus could not have been the head of the Church at that time because John, who was an apostle, was alive and still receiving instructions directly from Jesus Christ.

Linus was back filled into this position after the fact.

Linus was a Bishop of a congregation in Rome, just like there was a bishop at Corinth and Ephesus, etc... and was never commissioned by Jesus Christ to lead His Church. That position is meant for an apostle, not a bishop.

The men who created the Catholic church was trying to prove their legitimacy. So they created this rule that the head of their church would be the bishop of Rome. And then listed everyone that had that position and then listed Peter as the first one.

However, as I have stated above, Linus could NOT have been the head of the Church because John, a prophet and apostle was the true authority on the earth during the time of Linus.

As proof, Jesus was speaking to John face to face, but never visited Linus ever, nor any Pope ever.

Thank you kindly for the ping.

I saw your comment initially in the wee hours of the next day after you had provided that, and links also, so do beg pardon for not having responded sooner.

I had hoped to respond when first reading your own quotable summation, and to possibly expand upon that combined with what was linked to, but have had my mind also much occupied with a variety of other concern, some of which you likely may share, and much agree with my own intended response towards.

I thank you for all, and will add you to pings for what in the future may be worthy, which I would think you may have some interest in, though do apologize also beforehand (is it possible to do that?) for the long-windedness and denseness of my own manner of writing.

An English language reader and native speaker I truly am, but English Major, and skillful writer --- not. If that can make sense as form of pre-apology.
