Christians may be the most persecuted group in the world, and their persecution is on the rise. As Islamic extremism takes hold and repressive governments step up their campaigns against Christianity, the Pope has been moved to warn of “a form of genocide”, and for campaigners to speak out over “religio-ethnic cleansing.”

“Couldn’t see that one coming, could we?”

You don’t think the majority of American Christians sleep?

Due to communists, socialists, and other dictators. Yes because of those, whom this pope seems to like so much better than us capitalist pigs.

Mathew 10
34 Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.

35 For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36 And as a man’s enemies shall be they of his own household.

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.

38 And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me.

39 He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it.

Mathew 24
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places:

8 Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall put you to death: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name’s sake.

10 And then shall many be scandalized: and shall betray one another: and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many.

I do.

I was thinking more along the lines of FReepers, who generally don’t sleep.

"How many different types of genocide are there?"

OVERT: Like the Holocaust and Killing Fields

COVERT: Like obamacare and planned parenthood.

In both cases it's most cost effective to get the victims to assume all related expenses for the process.

**“With this campaign of total demolition, everyone feels like this is no longer simply about tearing down crosses. It’s not merely about symbols—they want to attack your beliefs. Everyone feels like this is the beginning of a deeper repression, where they first do away with your symbols and then attack at a deeper level, destroying your internal organization, your doctrine, your church finances, even your pulpits.”**

Coming soon to the United States?

Don’t you wish that people would actually read the articles rather than zoning in on Pope Francis?

Don’t hold your breath just yet. Pope Francis knows he has been controversial in the USA.

He has a month to lay some ground work, do his home work and make some major repairs for the damages, but will he?

Genocide can be erased by the USA in a seven day campaign to scorch the earth. Why is that? It’s because we are not South America, or Argentina!

We are those evil capitalists he insults, whose charitable works are unmatched and whose wealth has lifted all boats, making us the richest country in the world. (Before Obama.)

Under the Pope’s view of the USA, we should flirt with Marx and increase socialistic government rule to transfer wealth and fundamentally be transformed.

After reading many of the posts on this thread, I have come to the realization that I’m not at home in this forum.

As a Catholic, I’m disappointed....yes, even disappointed in what Catholics are posting.

And I am surprised—though I really shouldn’t be-—at what people are willing to write under an assumed name that gives the cover of anonymity.

There can only be one who wins when division is fostered and celebrated-—and I know who that is.

I must be confused. Do you mean combatting genocide by genocide?

I’m interested to know how you know what the Pope’s view of the USA is and how you know it so well that you can state his view for him.

BTW, there actually can be a form of capitalism that can become corrupt, (such as crony capitalism) as opposed to free market enterprise.

I have no real idea what the views of the Pope are in regard to the USA. What I do know is Americans were not broadly pleased to hear that capitalism was evil, to the exclusion of its merits.

I certainly agree that capitalism can be abused, and even can be abusive, but it was the Pope whose quotes on the evils of capitalism can be googled. His words were inclusive of all capitalism, and they were not pretty.

Sorry, but slandering the entire concept of capitalism to include all forms of it, even in it’s best form, is not an exercise of intellectual integrity, but an insult to all Americans who prefer it to Marx and socialism, communism and totalitarianism.

My point was focused on capitalism actually. It is the results of the best of capitalism that has given us a measure of American prosperity that permits us to defend against the indefensible.

That often means war. The Pope seems to frame social opinions rather than an educated understanding of a market economy.

He spoke, FINALLY, of genocide in the Middle East. He has spoken OFTEN of the ailments associated with American interests. His accusatory remarks against capitalism were the most recent.

I was correlating those remarks against capitalism with his delayed notice of genocide in the ME. I was trying to say that it is American capitalism that provides us the means and guarantees the promise that the USA can afford to end that genocide in about a week. Scorching the earth is a metaphor for war against ISIS in Iraq.

End ISIS and you end genocide. Dilly dally with ISIS and you are complicit in the genocide. Obama has arranged to sponsor the terrorism by returning the $150 billion to IRAN.

I get now what you mean, Rita, and I agree with it.

Except you didn't say "destroy ISIS."

You said "Scorched earth policy" --- and that's something different. It means targeting a geographic area together with its population. As you know, according to Divine and Natural Law, this is "a crime against God and against humanity" and is to be "firmly and unequivocally condemned."
