Paul’s writings make it clear getting drunk is not part of the Christian life.
You knew I knew.
But if I did that, I'd be accused of *mind reading* which is forbidden by the RF Guidelines.
So I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.
His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures , to their own destruction. This is why Jesus didn't leave us with a book, but with a Church.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; --JesusWhere does JESUS give similar TEACHING AUTHORITY to Scripture? Jesus gives the Apostles the power to "bind and loose," ie, ultimate/final ecclesial authority. And the Apostles occupied the OFFICE of bishop."if he won't listen to the church, treat him as a pagan or tax collector." --Jesus ...which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth.
...plenty of people acknowledge it - including some Protestants.
OF COURSE! Wow! Oh my.
Then it MUST BE:

(You and a post. Identical.)
hmmmm...
Yes, it’s true that open prejudice and hostility to all forms of Christianity has broken out in this country. It’s horrible, it’s frightening and I don’t know when it will stop. That said, historically, it is true that anti-Catholicism was and is still tolerated in this country. I mean, an entire political party was founded around it, lol.
I liked your post, btw.
It is written.......
Every stinking thing *they* write make me LAUGH!
I've reached P3.
Get a grip. Anyone can turn into an alcoholic. Makes no difference what church they go to. You of all posters on FR reach to the lowest places possible to trash Catholics. Move on. You should be happy, not constantly trash another faith. But I think we both know why your obsession the Church. I don’t need to mention it again. You’re like a broken record.
I got a good Christian raisin, an 8th grade education, ain’t no need ya’ll treating me this way.”!
John 3:3-8 Jesus answered him, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born? Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
John 3:14-18 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?
Acts 16:27-31 When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice, Do not harm yourself, for we are all here. And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.
Romans 3:20-30 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to itthe righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, since God is onewho will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.
Romans 10:9-13 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Who? The DEMOCRATS? Catholic's favorite party?
Hey, I’m just telling you what I saw growing up and the rationalization that went along with it.
I never said alcohol or an occasional drink was wrong. That’s your baby.
Nor did I bring up alcoholism. That was yours as well.
I just want it to be clear that the things you’re accusing me of or implying I said, were not mine.
I never know Wiki was a Roman Catholic sacred text!
Bow to Rome!
Be saved!!! (Maybe...)
Just can NOT get away from the stuff you've been warned about; can you?
15 But if thy brother shall offend against thee, go, and rebuke him between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou shalt gain thy brother.
16 And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand.
17 And if he will not hear them: tell the church. And if he will not hear the church, let him be to thee as the heathen and publican.
That worked out REALLY well with ROME's 7 churches in Asia that the angel told John to write to.
Well; the Catholics stopped burning and killing heretics' for SOME reason...
Pope Stephen VI (896897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]
Pope John XII (955964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.
Pope Benedict IX (10321044, 1045, 10471048), who "sold" the Papacy
Pope Boniface VIII (12941303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy
Pope Urban VI (13781389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]
Pope Alexander VI (14921503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]
Pope Leo X (15131521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]
Pope Clement VII (15231534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.
