I think you should think about the reality that the Apostles, in scripture, apply the fulfillment of these eschatological scriptures to their generation. There are more than 360 direct and indirect times statements in the New Testament that assert the second coming was going to happen in the lifetimes of the New Testament generation. Were Jesus and the Apostles wrong?

But it didn't happen...So does that make the bible wrong, or your understanding of the bible wrong...I'll hang with the bible...

What part of the Apostles teaching in scripture includes the learning curve? I’d like to know so that I can disregard what they are saying.

As far as the time statements go, you might want to look at a book called “Preterist Time Statements”. It’s a catalog of more than 350 time statements in the New Testament. Those statements declare that all of these things would be completed in the Apostle’s generation. You might be able to say that a handful of them are improperly applied to such eschatology, but you’ll never escape all 350. The bottom line is that they thought, and taught in scripture, that it was going happen. If it didn’t happen this has some profoundly negative implications for Christianity. But, preterism can credibly point out how each of the eschatological passages was fulfilled in that generation.

Or I might not. I'm leaning towards not looking.

Not to me they can't. They might ensnare gullible souls that don't know how to read the Bible on their own. Shame on them. Preterism is for the theological lightweights who put little time or effort into their own discovery of the facts and are easily persuaded. I don't have time to invest shooting down every theory or fad out there. I gladly help those who are searching for the Truth and have made a good faith effort on their own. Preterism doesn't qualify in my book. Good luck.
