Putin wants to be the defender of the (Christian) faith. Okay, we could do worse.

Didn’t the Persian fleet get wrecked by a storm while sailing around Mr. Athos or the peninsula on which it is located?

Oh I don't know, Jughead desecrates the Oval Office and is probably waiting to desecrate The Holy Temple when it's rebuilt. I don't think there's any throne he wouldn't try to sit upon.

... the chair, which previously could only occupy the Byzantine emperors.

Aaah, syntax!

This seems to be a machine translation.

Translation by machine, seems to be this.

When Putin met with W in Crawford, Texas he said he was an atheist.

I really like this guy. Wish we had a leader like him. Not so sure about the way he’s hung around and around, but that’s Russia. If I turned back to Christianity, I might have to give the Orthodox church a try. I became Catholic largely due to JPII and Benedict XVI, but this renegade pope is going to obola the church. Maybe the Orthodox hold the last vestige of the true religion.

He discovered that he could get more mileage out of acting like an Orthodox Christian. Just watch those of us on the Right fawning over him.

Methinks Putin learned from the days of the Soviet Union that it doesn’t pay to have the Left fawn over you.

-—I really like this guy. Wish we had a leader like him-—

Yes, Putin is a leader...

I really don’t think we need a guy like him...

Poisoning journalist, invading sovereign countries for non-existent reasons, former Head of the KGB among other nefarious things...

The only thing I like about Putin is he makes Obama look even more of a putz than he already is...

He says he had a religious conversion. Why doubt him? He’s prospering the church in his country and the things I’ve read that the High Metropolitan or whatever says sound a bit harsh (for Western ears) but true.

We may HAVE to look to Russia Today to find out what’s really going on. Like the Daily Mail.

Not every country works like the US. Leaders aren’t a “one size fits all” thing.

For example, I wouldn’t want a Pinochet for this country, but for Chile, he was what they needed at that particular time.

“Maybe the Orthodox hold the last vestige of the true religion.”
Not the Russian or the Bulgarian Orthodox Churches. Their Patriarchs and most of the high ranked bishops were on the rolls of the KGB, respectively the Bulgarian version of it. So you may be learning the gospel according to Marx, Lenin, Stalin, and Putin.
