Breakaway Catholic group accuses pope of spreading errors [SSPX]

A breakaway traditionalist Catholic group accused Pope Francis on Wednesday of spreading confusion and errors about the faith, joining a chorus of conservative criticism over his perceived lax doctrine and emphasis on mercy at the expense of morals.

A statement from the schismatic Society of St. Pius X suggested that a new attempt at reconciliation with Rome had stalled, or that the society itself was divided over next steps and decided at least to take a hard line against Francis.

The statement, issued after a meeting of the society’s superiors, said its members weren’t primarily looking for a legal resolution to their schismatic status but eager to return Catholic tradition to a church where “great and painful confusion” currently reigns.

It said errors had made their way into doctrine “that are unfortunately encouraged by a large number of pastors, including the pope himself.” …

This Pope is the LAST Pope, people. End times near. When ISIS plants their flag over Rome, we'll have confirmation who the Anti-Christ is.

Yes I listened to 'Coast-to-Coast' last night. LOL

BTW, I would love to see a thread about the end times and today's current political events such as Brexit and Trump (Good) vs. Hillary (Evil) and the role they play in all of this. I know there are FReepers who are quite knowledgeable on the Bible, specifically 'REVELATIONS'. Would love to see such a thread!

Would be really curious to know how much SSPX has grown during Bergoglio’s tenure.

I hate to break the news, but catholicism is error. Paul warned about it in the 1st century and they've been going downhill ever since. The current "pope on a rope" is just more of the same.

1 Tim 4:1-4: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

“that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith”

Protestants departed from the real faith in the 16th Century. I am no Francis fan, but the Catholic Church is the true faith. Popes come and go. Some good, some bad. Christ promised he would be with the Church always.

Even they are still calling them “errors”. What we are seeing aren’t just “errors”, it’s outright heresy. When will someone in the Recognize and Resist camps (because we know it isn’t going to happen in the Novus Ordo camp...Burke, Schneider, etal) have the courage to call a spade a spade?

Might I suggest that if you want to know about the book of Revelation, start with reading it. As much as I love Free Republic, it would not be the tool I’d use to understand what the Bible says. Go to a free online Bible, chose a modern day English Version, such as ESV or NIV, and read the linked commentaries to better understand the text. I’d recommend reading David Guzik’s commentary if using the link below.

Don’t be afraid of using the more modern commentaries, as they are translated directly from the earliest texts available. (They are not translations of translations.)

Catholicism raises marriage to the level of a sacrament. Doesn't sound like "forbidding" it to me.

And the word translated "meats" in your KJV is the generic term for "food" in Greek.

The reference is to Gnostic groups.

A Pope can’t teach error.

But he can spread error.

Got it.
