That is highly doubtful, the Russians do not want to lose their only carrier to the IAF. It is a jump carrier and does not have advanced aircraft that can beat the 300 F-16’s and the 80 F-15’s that Israel has. Plus Israel is a Nuclear Nation State with a submarine 2nd strike option.
Russia is more likely to grab parts of Europe, but they are going to take and hold Syria. They do not want the Turks or the US to grab it and put Assad on trial.

There does not seem to be any direct mention of any of the Americas in the Bible prophecy, except maybe Psalm 2:2,8,9 refers to all the populated earth.
I think Tarshish is the UK, hence “Sons of Tarshish” (USA).
Doubt Rosh is “Rus” (Russia). “North of the Black Sea” is too generic & entails a few nations, namely Europeans. Similar to WW2 when most were persecuting Jews by choice or otherwise.
It is ancient geography & historical reference, since British partitioned lands such as: Saudi Arabia/Jordan, Gulf states are relatively new ‘countries’.
Even “Scythia” (immediately north of the Black Sea), which were mostly part of ancient Iran in fact, before the USSR consumed them, are not specifically mentioned. And, the Turks did invade them too.
Egyptians may be known as Phoenicians. That land encompassed today’s Lebanon and Syria too - even part of Tunisia.
The Bible was written 2000 years ago. As accurate it is or may be, we need to consider the content in the time it was written, and since then. Too vague and open to speculation or interpretation.

I’ve always associated the Sons of Tarshish with Spain and their conquering in the New World, with expansion throughout the Americas.

Understand your thinking. Mine was that the U.S. (not Americas) was actually born out of the UK, not Spain. Also, the UK had a powerful maritime force as well, though later than Spain. From the M.E. it would take longer travel by sea to get to the UK. The close relations & alliance between the UK and the U.S., in more recent times, far surpass those with Spain, especially in the M.E.

Because “Rosh” means “head or chief” and sounds like Russia, in English, one shouldn’t presume it “simply means Russia”.
Russia, Rossiya or Rus (by name and ethnically in European part) are actually from Scandinavian countries, Sweden, in particular - Nordic too from Finland.
But, if we want to take Russia, the very large land that it is today, then consider the non-European part of it too, which is in fact the largest part of Russian Federation, then you may have a point.
Genkis Khan (Mongol) invaded, though was NOT Russian (Tatars have the primary Mongol influence, tho as all others too even right thru to Poland). Kazakhstan were “Turkisch” (assume you mean a Turkic Nomadic tribe - also intertwined with Mongols), from Eastern parts of today’s Russia.
Closest ethnic and linguistic nation today to the Turkic (Turkisch) tribes of the past is today’s Turkey.
