In July 1980, Bryan Melvin drank cholera-tainted water and died.

He was transported to Hell where he saw many people being tormented for their sins, including someone he identified as Hitler.

“In the beginning was the Word. And the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God... and the Word was made Flesh and dwelt among us.”

The Word is eternal.

What have I posted that contradicts that scripture?

You need a good course in linguistics and Biblical syntax.

You are leading people astray with false teaching by saying that evil people’s souls simply disappear.

How is that eternal punishment?

Again, go start a new Mormon or JW cult on your own thread.

It brings to mind this, from Matthew:

28 “But what do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’

29 ‘I will not,’ he replied. But later he changed his mind and went.

30 Then the man went to the second son and told him the same thing.

‘I will, sir,’ he said. But he did not go.

31 Which of the two did the will of his father?”

You fail to comprehend what the word “everlasting” means.

Or eternal.

You are teaching damnable heresy.

Opinions vary. And that IS an opinion.

I am not wrong simply because I disagree with you, and vice versa.

And I am no more a mormon because of what I believe about this topic than you are Muslim because of what you believe about it. :-)

Check out Rethinkinghell.com. Check out The Fire that Consumes, by Edward Fudge. Check out Jewishnotgreek.com.

The bible information and study software on the internet is blowing up the “hell is eternal conscious torment” teaching. And make no mistake, The Conditional Immortality / Annihilationism viewpoint is nothing new. It is arguably what the early church believed.

One is always walking a dangerous path when they accuse others of teaching “damnable heresy” without entering into a scripture supported discussion, reading scripture and arguments from BOTH sides.

I believed in ECT for decades before I did an exhaustive study of the subject, and turned to CI seven years ago. Since then I attended Baptist churches in Seattle and KY and currently attend a Christian church in KY.

There are believers in CI in most Christian denominations.

It is not heretical.

[[Our salvation and specifically my salvation does not stand or fall according to the veracity of this video on Hell.]]

Mine doesn’t either- like i said in previous posts- My experience shook me for a long time, but it shouldn’t have really, because things about it were unbiblical- and likely due just to high fever and lack of oxygen/blood in brain-

We’re going to have to disagree however on the parable-

I have several reasons why I believe it was a parable using common jewish folklore (The pharisees believed in a ‘hold over’ location before both eternal damnation and eternal life in heaven- Jesus used this common folklore to teach the pharisees) to illustrate a point- I also believe that souls in hell are purely evil and would not be concerned about loved ones back on earth- Hell is a total lack of God- a total lack of the restrainer- this means man in hell is no longer bound by the restrainer, and the soul will become devoid of restraining force- There will be no more universal moral code in hell- as God and His influence will not be present there-

also people in hell can not have conversations with those in heaven-

also “in death there is no remembrance” (Psalm 6:5)- Yet in this parable, there is remembrance?

There are several other reasons i think it’s just a parable- not literal

You are preaching Hell is not everlasting.

That is heresy. You clearly do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and this is damnable heresy.

False teachers and false prophets are abominations to God; this is not small point of Scripture that people may quibble about, it has to do with salvation and eternal destinations.

The Word is not up for private opinion, it is a fixed meaning

And you cannot change the meaning of the word “everlasting” as it is used in Scripture just because you feel like it.

May the Lord rebuke you and spare your children.

You have “punishment” confused with “punishing”.

The state is eternal. The state is death. The punishment is death.

Or, put another way. The punishment is death. The state is “dead”. The state is eternal. i.e. you are dead and you ain’t comin’ back.

that is what Adam was warned about in Genesis 3. It is what Romans 6:23 duscysses, It is what John 3:16 discusses. It is what is compared to the eternal life state of the lost.

Read ANY of the links I provided. If you disagree based on knowledge, feel free to show the scriptures that contradict my position. But be aware that you may want to read the refutations of any of those scriptures already presented on those sites.

I’ve read many, MANY sites on both sides of this issue for seven years now. I listen to the bible on my 3 hour round trip commute almost every day going on three years now. I’m not coming from a position of ignorance.

And I’m not mormon, nor JW any more that you are Muslim.

The Rich man specified he had brothers. Jesus named Lazarus.

Why would He need a parable when He was teaching from actual experience?

If you don’t believe the video I posted, why don’t you just refute that guy’s points about his visitation to Hell?

No, I’m not. I’m claiming that the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus and the wages of sin is death, and those that do not know Jesus will be destroyed at the second death. I have plenty of scripture to back it up, starting with Genesis 3.

I’ve given several links to sites that support my position with mountains of scripture. I’ve been studying this specific issue in earnest since 2010. I’ve been a Christian since 1980. Assembly of God the first 18 years and Baptist, Christian and non-denominational ever since, depending on where I lived.

I get every single support for my beliefs from the bible, teachings of other scholarly believers (e.g. C.S. Lewis, Edward Fudge, etc.) and directly from Greek and Hebrew lexicons.

Rather than “say” I’m preaching heresy, as the religious leaders said to Jesus, show me scripture to demonstrate it.

You don’t understand what “everlasting” or “eternal” means according to God.

And you have a deluded metaphysical understanding about the word death as well.

The soul in Hell is conscious for eternity.

You are preaching otherwise and cannot logically defend your position on your own as we are to do because the Holy Spirit has come at Pentecost and we no longer need a teacher, but the Spirit will lead us to all truth.

And you are acting like Mormons who believe they can add, subtract and change the Word because they say so.

Yours is a serious error or I would not be taking the time to rebuke you.

The word “everlasting” is an english word. Nowhere is it in the original text, for our English did not exist then. It is an interpretation every time you see the word. And I’ve not discussed the word yet. I believe you are the first one to bring it up. I discuss “eternal”, “forever” etc., but even then, one must be careful how they are interpreted. There are many times in the bible where the English words “forever”, “eternal”, etc. are used when the event was not only not “forever” but sometimes of fairly short duration.

What’s up with that? ;-)

I don’t even know how to respond to that. Do you mean that some people have perfect knowledge of all of the word of God? Some need not study it any longer because they “know it all” an nobody can argue with their interpretation.

And who is this person/group, and why are you so sure they are correct in their interpretation?

I’m using the dictionary to interpret the meaning of the word as used in English language bibles, and the greek and hebrew lexicons (with context) to interpret the words from which the english translations come.

They mean a lot more (and less) than a lot of people think.

[[The Rich man specified he had brothers. Jesus named Lazarus.]]

Not sure what your point is? How did the man in hell speak to the man in heaven? Especially when the bible states the dead know nothing? The explanation it seems to me is that this was a parable based on popular Pharisaical lore about paradise and Sheol - not actual events that happened- The pain in hell is going to be so intense one wouldn’t be able to speak even if it were possible to bridge the gap between heaven and hell to speak- If we’re to think literally- then hellfire would so dry and swell mucous membranes that they would not be able to talk- This is a fire that has almost all the negative effects of actual fire, but does not consume- if this is true- then there will be nothing but screaming and gnashing of teeth in pain in hell- not casual conversations across great divides-

I’m not catholic- but I’ll post a description of hell by alfonso who studied the issue pretty deeply- a person in those conditions wouldn’t be capable of conversation even if it were possible-

So, because of word games and a misunderstanding of the Law, you don’t believe anything in the Bible is everlasting or eternal or forever?

How about Truth? Is God’s Word Truth or not?

Please take the bait and tell us how you are mincing words and parsing out the meaning of “truth”.

Next, are you filled with the Holy Spirit? Do you believe the gifts are for today as prophesied by the prophet Joel and then, Peter confirming?

What is your stand on the existence of the Devil, since all things in Hell aren’t really conscious or there anymore?

What a tangled web you weave...

The following is Just a few of my thoughts mixed in with the thoughts of a man called Alphonsus Liguori, a biblical scholar who has studied the issue thoroughly and wrote a book describing hell called "What will hell be like?" Here is the link:-

http://olrl.org/doctrine/hellbelike.shtml --------

Hell will be a fire so intense that it hurts the bones, not just the skin- (Ever had a bruised bone? It's very very painful- now imagine all your bones hurting like that- That is what the fire will do- pain deep to the bones) The fire that we know today, as terrible as it can be, is child's play compared to the supernatural fire of eternal damnation- This fire will literally boil the person's inside- but will not kill them- It will broil the brain, but we will not feel relief by going unconscious- it will boil the bowels- but will not destroy them- "Thou shalt make them as an Oven of Fire, in the Time of Thy Anger" - Psalm 20:10. Folks, the person in hell is going to burn forever- This is serious business- God isn't joking about this- He views sin that seriously- ---------

Hell fire will not consume, nor give light- this is no ordinary fire- it is a supernatural fire- it does not consume the body so there will be no relief day and night- ---------

Hell will also be freezing cold. "Let him pass from the snow water to excessive heat, and his sin even to hell." (Job 24:19) one moment you are burning, the next moment you are freezing- There will be no rest- No escape- constant torment ---------

Hell will be a place of constant torment by demonic beings (Think about folks- When Job says horrors- He is not exasperating- it's going to be horrifying- your worst nightmares played out constantly) "Before I go, and return no more, to a land that is dark and covered with the mist of death: a land of misery and darkness, where the shadow of death, and no order, but everlasting horror dwelleth." (Job 10:22). --------

Hell will be a place where the person is forced to think about God and about the terrible choice they made while they were alive- constantly- this will eat at the person for eternity --------

Hell is the place where the worm feeds on the flesh but does not consume the flesh- ie you will have a constant feeling of being eaten alive- Think about a simple itch and how annoying it can be- now imagine worms crawling all over your body- eating away- but never consuming the flesh- Just the sensation of it happening- --------

Hell is a place where thirst can not be quenched- ever- try going 2 days without anything to drink- it's not very fun, and is quite uncomfortable- Hell is eternal thirst- not just 2 days worth -------

Hell is a place of unimaginable overwhelming stench- Sin around some rotting meat on a hot day- I mean really putrid rotting meat- crawling with maggots- This is nothing compared to the inescapable stench of hell- if you are sensitive to foul odours- it's is only going to be worse in hell- --------

Hell is a place where there will be no relief from people constantly shrieking and screaming, both in anger and in pain- Ever try to sleep with loud noises present? Not very fun. --------

Hell will be so crowded that you won't be able to move- although it will be too dark to see anyone else- a person will be crowded- never able to find a comfortable spot to rest- always being shoved and manoeuvred around by unseen neighbouring damned- ---------

Hell will be a place where memories torment the person always- never ceasing- always remembering how they rejected God when they had the chance to accept Him- This knowledge will never leave them and always haunt their minds- They shall never find peace again- ever- --------

Hell will be a place where all our earthly desires to sin will be magnified many times- Whatever pet sins a person enjoys fulfilling now, that desire to fulfil them in hell will be magnified many times but they will be unable to full fill them- --------

Hell will be a place where rage and anger and disdain and fury take hold and consume a being- *********

Take heed- Hell is not going to be a big party place- it is serious business!- God is very serious about sin- and He is giving us all every chance possible to avoid it while we are alive on earth- Sin has no place in a Holy Heaven- God was not kidding when He told adam and Eve not to eat that apple- They didn't beleive Him- and no it wasn't 'just an innocent mistake on their part' it was a serious blatant violation of God's command not to eat of the tree- ************ Christ willingly gave His life, willingly sacrificed His life, willingly chose to lay His life down for yours- so that you, lost sinners, do not have to experience eternity without Him- He paid the price- Will you accept the gift?
