I don’t have to use Lent to be aware of the false prophet currently in the Vatican. I’ve been aware ever since Pope Benedict was forced out by evil liberal groups both outside and inside the Church.

However, what is mentioned in the Bible is that Moses, Elijah, and Jesus all fasted for forty days in preparation for their missions. Imitation of that is where Lent comes from; it's the forty-day fast of the catechumens prior to their baptism on Easter. The rest of us are just imitating the fast of the catechumens, as a wholesome spiritual practice.

The reason there was a fasting day for Israel on a certain day, in a certain month, that they were to observe annually, is because that would mark the end of the Savior’s 40 days in the wilderness.
That day also commemorates the day,as a 40 day babe, He was presented in the temple..
A day of fasting and affliction that Israel was commanded to follow. They weren’t required to do 40, just one- the last one of 40 that He did.
A holy Sabbath in His Word.
A day of fasting and prayer, even hinted at in the New Testament.
Israel was being taught the Word becoming flesh.
But don’t trust Judaism to get it right-and from the looks of it, Christianity can’t see it either.
