You make my point....if David and Bathsheba were forgiven maybe the RCC should take note.

Perhaps it was not explained sufficiently. The Messiah came and changed the law for marriage, divorce, and remarriage. David and Bathsheba lived prior to that and were subject to the Law of Moses.

I guarantee you there are Roman Catholics sitting in the pews today a little hung over....and it isn't their first time.

I'd also venture there are Roman Catholics sitting in the pews today who've repeatedly committed the same sin over and over and have gone to confession over and over for the same.

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Luke, Catholic chapter eighteen, Protestant verses nine to fourteen ,
as authorized, but not authored, by King James

Rome needs to learn that Christ died for all of our sins....one time....and that our sins have been nailed to the cross. They've been forgive and covered and are remembered no more.

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

Romans, Catholic chapter one, Protestant verses one to eight ,

Are you claiming one sinning willfully after receiving the Gospel can safely claim all future sins are forgiven in advance ?

Well, I see we're back to square one.

Are you claiming one sinning willfully after receiving the Gospel can safely claim all future sins are forgiven in advance ?

I don't say it....He does through Paul and David.

13When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:13-14 NASB

9that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 11For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13for “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.” Romans 10:9-13 NASB

8The LORD is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. 9He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. 10He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. 12As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalms 103:8-12 NASB

I don't say it....He does through Paul and David.

I note the appeal to Paul and David.

  1. The Colossians to whom the Apostle to the Gentiles wrote were baptized Christians. Their previous sins were forgiven. Not only that, the ordinances (Law of Moses) were not applicable to them (they were uncircumcised in the flesh).
  2. It seems to me that Calvinism believes one is saved by believing one is saved. In other words, if after receiving the Gospel and forgiveness of sins already committed, if one does not believe any future sins are automatically forgiven, no matter the gravity of the sin or the lack of repentance and confession, one is not saved.
  3. It seems odd to me to quote that portion of Romans when soon thereafter occurs the warning that God can and will cut off the Christian who does not continue in His goodness (which is what Ezekiel passage indicates as well).
  4. The other perspective is that one must remain in a state of grace. If one were alive during the earthly ministry of the Messiah this would be akin to walking with Him every day; not turning back, not returning to sin, etc. If one falls and sins (which is likely to occur, perhaps more than once), make a good confession and receive continual forgiveness for the sins as they occur.
  5. If confession and reconciliation were unnecessary, the Messiah need not have passed on the power to forgive, or retain, sins to the Apostles.

The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live? But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal? When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die. Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die. Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal? Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

...

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

...

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

...

For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

So a Christian person can willingly kill a neighbor knowing God will forgive them? That is nihilism. You confuse work that leads to salvation with responsibilities. The Bible clearly states that Grace is not cheap.

Jesus said repent first, then obey, not the spiritual anarchy Evangelicals and a lot of Protestants promote.

God says that throughout the whole Bible. God divorced the certain Jewish tribes because they committed Spiritual adultery. Jesus will smite the Churches, (Where they think they are saved) due to their Spiritual adultery.

Again, spiritual anarchy and nihilism is not part of God’s plans.

“And just who do you know who's done that?”

The list is long with both genders. Paula White and Benny Hinn for starters. Baker, Swaggart, Grant, etc... lol. Anecdotal examples as well, but you would not know them.

However, you have "killed" me spiritually by calling me an anti-Catholic bigot.....are you guilty of what you accuse others of?

Just what are those responsibilities?

"...calling me an anti-Catholic bigot..."

Point to me where I said that, lol?

You are bearing false witness my brother. A Roman Catholic would probably call me a heretic too because I question ex cathedra and the whole Marian dogma due to historical inconsistencies and lack of primary enumerations.

Tell me this, a man at age 19 says the sinners prayer. At 25 believes he cannot contain "who is is" anymore and embraces his same-sex desires. Finds another man where they start a monogamous sexual relationship. Both self-proclaiming men think God approves their marriage. On man is a Lutheran minister. They promote the idea you can be Christian involved in an active homosexual relationship.

Tell me eagle, are they "saved" despite they say the "sinners prayer daily" while leading the flock under the banner that homosexuality is Ok with God?

What is the difference between them and a professing Christian adulterer who leaves his kids and marries another professing Christian adulterous female who left her Christian husband? Both adulterous couples left a wake of destruction, but believe they are saved even though their Christian ex-spouses are still alive.

This happens frequently btw.

A Christian will not willing murder*knowing that God will forgive them.*

They may call themselves a Christian but their actions belie their words.

That is nihilism. You confuse work that leads to salvation with responsibilities.

That's a false premise set up by those who oppose the gospel of grace. Scripture does not teach that one is free to sin wantonly as a believer. And while it may not cost him his salvation if he does, God WILL deal with the matter.

Do you guys really think that God will take no action when those of His sin?

Do you really think God just leaves us to flounder on our own?

The Bible clearly states that Grace is not cheap.

Show me the verse.

Jesus said repent first, then obey, not the spiritual anarchy Evangelicals and a lot of Protestants promote.

Salvation by grace through faith is not *spiritual anarchy*.

It's freedom from legalistic bondage that required performance in a vain bid to please God enough to get saved.

Do you have any real understanding of what the new birth is all about and what being born again, a new creature in Christ is all about?

Those are not examples of what you are claiming. Read what you claimed. And FWIW, should someone, like President Trump, who is on his third marriage and has maybe committed adultery but that accusation is up for grabs, comes to a point where he recognizes his need for forgiveness and repents and turns to Christ, he then is born again into God's family becomes a new creature in Christ. He is completely and fully forgiven of ALL wrongdoing from his past. God does not count that sin against him any more.

And he is going to heaven when he dies, just like every other saved person.

And if he should sin again, he does NOT need to repeat the sinner's prayer each and every time to get saved all over again.

Salvation is a done deal once it happens. At the point of salvation, the person is sealed with God's Holy Spirit and transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God's son.

He is NOW, at this very moment, in the spiritual realm, seated with Christ in heaven.

Were David and Bathsheba forgiven? He still had other wives and concubines at the time.

His son “defiled” David’s concubine just like God told the prophet Nathan would happen. Davis was faithful to Bathsheba. He repented after all and Uriah the Canaanite/Hittite was dead.

The best writing from David came after that incident/repentance. Very humbling. “Better to be in pain and closer to God rather than happy and thinking you can do whatever you want” paraphrasing from his experience after witnessing every sorrowful incident caused by his children.
