I suspect your are largely correct. From what I've read, the whole "health of the mother" thing is, as you said largely a fiction used to cover up cold-blooded murder, as the circumstances where the mother's life is actually in danger during the 3rd trimester where the baby could not be successfully delivered is an extraordinarily small percentage of them.

Now that they've actually come out and said that they want to be able to murder babies that have actually been born, this fiction has been stripped away.

And yet, soooooo many of my fellow Virginians could not bring themselves to vote for milquetoast Ed Gillespie because he was not conservative enough.
