The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.
Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

Iowegian, Since this is a new-ish sort of thread, it would be very exciting if you could say something that wasn't aimed at offending Roman Catholics either directly or indirectly.
Pop corn anyone? I go make it, angelo you get the drinks. :)

BTW, I have to tell you, I preferred your topic categories better than those that we are going to use. Did you do that yourself or get it from another source?

Thanks ... I did part of it myself, and some came from an earlier suggestion by father_elijah that wasn't used.

What exactly did you find offensive? LOL ... and now for something completely different:
A blessed Sunday of the Resurrection to you and to all.

Hi history_matters (I'm sure you'll be abbreviated to "hm" soon! ;o), thanks for dropping by.
This thread has been ongoing for over a year, and many of the regulars have been here for at least several months. So, we've gotten to know each other pretty well. We have some pretty intense debate here at times. We do try to keep it from getting personal, though, unlike certain other unnamed threads. We have such a diverse group that anyone's beliefs are fair game for being challenged at one point or another. Many of the topics have been gone over a number of times, so a comment like Iowegian's is more than just an aside, but is referring back to prior debate. Each of us here is sure he is right, so it does get interesting! But despite our differences and squabbles, we've gotten to be good friends. If you stick around, you'll meet some great people from both the Catholic and non-Catholic sides. Even if they do disagree with you vehemently on doctrine.
Welcome!

I didn't want to say this on the other thread, but I can't believe nobody complained that we didn't have MARY as a keyword. I mean you aren't giving her the respect and deference she deserves, right?Nah, she doesn't need a keyword or a forum. She's got her Son's ear -- and man, he turned water into wine when she pointed out the party was about to go bust.....

Hey, thanks for the bump.

Hey Jim, saw you talking about the bread and wine (grapejuice) on the "old" thread...last week was the first time I've ever did the bread and wine thing...it was pretty awesome to think that I was performing a ceremony that's been handed down for thousands of years and to think of the link back to Christ. Truly moving. Did you feel that way for you first one?
No, sorry to say, I was more consumed with the mechanics of it, and Ginny was so nervous she spilled her wine (Juice).
She had told me, that when she was a child, they thought that if you chewed the host wafer, blood would run out of the corners of your mouth. hehehe
Did you use real wine in your service as they used to?

Oops, let me correct that. Each of us here is sure he is right, except for BigMack. Poor fella is plagued with self-doubt. If it weren't for Becky telling him what to wear, he wouldn't even be able to get dressed in the morning. ;o)
