eek! Sorry!
Speaking of San Diego, that is my hometown...La Mesa, actually, but perhaps that area has been incorporated into San Diego by now?

JM, I just read Bish. Weigand's statement that a Catholic cannot be pro-abortion and be in good standing. He said they should be honest and abstain from Holy Communion.
Is there an intermediate position short of ex-communication where the church can "withhold" communion?
I'm not a catholic. I was just wondering.

Is there an intermediate position short of ex-communication where the church can "withhold" communion? Yes, its called an Interdict.
An interdict is a censure, or prohibition, excluding the faithful from participation in certain holy things. These holy things are all those pertaining to Christian worship, and are divided into three classes:
*the Divine offices, in other words the Liturgy, and in general all acts performed by clerics as such, and having reference to worship
*the sacraments, excepting private administrations of those that are of necessity;
*ecclesiastical burial, including all funeral services.

After enjoying the readings and appreciating the art you posted, I came to the conclusion that the Holy Spirit was sitting beside you at your computer.
It is obvious that you dedicated a great deal of time to the task of describing the conversion of one of our greatest and well-written saints.
Thank you for this terrific post and may God bless you for your sincere religious fervor that you share with all of us on this forum.
I believe you are truly one of God's very special creations.
God bless,
EODGUY

You are most kind. I bookmarked this one myself because I found the daily word, the von Balthasar quotes, and the "other side of Christ" quotes insightful and inspiring. I have a copy (in an artbook) of "The Conversion of Paul" by Rubens, but couldn't find it on the web (except a small blurry one). Wish I could have posted that too. Anyway, I enjoyed myself last night with this thread. Thanks!
