Understand your frustration. I’m frustrated too, BUT I remember all too well the Carter years and the hollow military and don’t want to go back there.

“If Huckabee or Guiliani ends up getting the nod though, I’ll vote third party.”

Better yet, write in your preferred choice. That at least will send a message to why you didn’t vote for the candidate.

There are apparently quite a few servicemen that disagree with you

FEC reports indicate that Ron Paul had topped all other presidential candidates in campaign contributions from employees of the armed services for the second and third quarters of 2007. In the second quarter, Paul received 26.2% of military donations, roughly equal to the support received by all other Republican candidates combined.

Interesting, no?

Sad, isn’t it? That’s why the GOP needs to be nudged back to the right. Newt tried to do it too fast, all at once, and gave the Dems some ammo that he should have kept in reserve.

“My guess is that at least half of them are cut and run Democrats.”

No, all the money came from George Soros. /sarc

Excuse me while I adjust my tin foil hat.

I really don't think that Hillary would cut the military all that much. She wouldn't want to appear weak. Her being a woman (and a Dem) makes her more vulnerable to criticisms about national security. I don't think she would cede that issue to Republicans completely. Obama would though.

That said, it would be pretty damned hard for me to have to salute her.

First of all my condolences on the loss of your friend. I retired from the Army in 2000 and everyone I know from back then are either in Afghanistan or Iraq on their third tour by now.

“What Dr. Paul wants to do to shrink government would not only wreck our economy...would wreck that over other nations as well...his foreign policy would put in a more dangerous situation than Clinton put us in...not to mention leaving some of our most valuable strategic allies vulnerable to attack as well.”

Although Dr. Paul wants to shrink the size of the federal government his biggest obstacle may be Congress. I can see him getting the ball rolling but it might take several administrations to actually see the final result. The point is we should at least start the process. No other candidate is on board with this to the extent Dr. Paul is.

“The shortsightedness of his policies and the willingness of his followers to ignore those shortcomings is nothing less than amazing.”

The only counter I can make to that argument is look at where our post-WWII foreign policy has taken us. Our main focus was to contain and eventually defeat communism (the Soviet Union) and in that regard we were ultimately successful. However in that quest we supported governments who were “ABC” (Anything But Communist). In South America, South Viet Nam (Diem and Thieu) and Iran (the Shah) were governments that when we were allies oprressed their own people.
In the Middle East we have just gotten it wrong for the last forty-plus years in my opinion. Sometimes I think our elected “leaders” (and oftentimes non-elected advisors) think we can do anything we want, anytime we want, and anywhere we want just because we are America.
Dr. Paul is not an isolationist like some would claim and he’s not in favor of dismantling the military. I know that our forces are stretched precariously thin right now and there are several reasons why. Those reasons encompass the last three administrations.
Will Dr. Paul get the nomination? It’s possible but not probable. My hope is that he can strike a chord in enough people across the political spectrum who are fed up with “politics as ususal” and get those already in power to get their heads out of their butts. I view him as a necessary catalyst to much-needed positive change. Take care.

Personally I think either one of them (Clinton or Obama) would be a disaster, imho. I’m having a hard time working up a lot of enthusiasm for any candidate, really, at this stage of the game.

I actually have some respect for Obama, since I think he honestly believes the crap he’s selling. He’d be a disaster as president and I agree with none of his positions. I have zero respect for Hillary though, all she wants is power. She would be pretty terrible as well, but she’s more interesting in gaining and staying in power that anything else. While there are a whole lot of things she’d LIKE to do, like turn America into a communist workers utopia, she’ll be more concerned with appearances and getting re-elected.

Very good point. With the Clintons, it’s all about power. Why else would she have stayed with her sorry excuse for a husband?

Hey, for all I know, having Chelsea was political too... Just another cog in the political machine. I wouldn’t be surpised if they only had sex once, just so they could have a kid to trot out at political events.

In a way, you can’t blame Bill - hell, if I was married to her I’d be chasing skirts too. Gawd, what an awful thought. I think I’m going to go ‘spew’ (as the Aussies say) now. Later -

Hubby was out at Santa Monica mall today handing out candy canes to kids, when he looked up and found an angry mob storming down the middle of the mall screeching to the top of their lungs’’RON PAUL’’ RON PAUL’’!!! LOL!,,,,, Finally they started scaring some of the kids ,so some of the people asked them politely to leave , they refused, of course, and kept screaming ‘’RON PAUL’’ RON PAUL’’! What nuts!,,,,,,, In the end of it my hubby ended up in a confrontation with one of them , and asked who he voted for in the last two elections. The Paul supporter said ‘’John Kerry in 2004 and Al Gore in 2000. Hubby then asked what did you think of Ronald Reagan? The Paul supporter glared back and stated that, he hated him. ,,,,,,,,I think I agree with you, these Ron Paul people are nothing but RATS!........

Bump for closing in on $18,000,000. That's around $6 million in one day. With over 60,000 donors. Lot of spammers out there huh? LOL, may have to wake up a little early and watch Fix. I just know it'll be the top story....
