Various Haitians
Various Afghans and Sudanese (anti-terrorist attack)
17 Iraq civilians, stray missiles near Basra
Dozens of Kurdish executed when White House withdrew support for CIA sponsored coup attemp to oust Saddam Hussein.[Freeper] post to Alamo-Girl: ".Is there a specific purpose in including such a general category? It seems to me that it's the sort of thing that our critics will point at to detract from the rest of DSL.."
Alamo-Girl post to [Freeper]: ".I've thought about it hard and long and if I knew the names of the Haitians that died, I would list them with their age and residence somewhere so people could see. Why? Because they were each and every one important and somebody ought to remember them by name. The deaths were evidently related to their belief in Clinton's campaign message.
If I had the name of each Afghan and Sudanese that died in the bombing, I'd list them also because they are each equally important. The necessity for and timing of the bombings have been widely contested.
If I had a name for each person whose life was ended on their way to their first breath of air because of the president's vetoing the ban against partial birth abortions - I would list them also. Perhaps they were not important to others, but they are each and every one nevertheless important to many of us.
So, [Freeper], I guess I'm just a soft hearted old gal who would like to remember each person I can and because this list is limited to its name - these are the unnamed, but ought to be remembered, deaths...

Judicial Watch 11/30/98 Larry Klayman ".III. MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES OF RON BROWN'S DEATH. Complimentary to our 5 pending lawsuits against the Clinton -Gore Commerce Dept, are our efforts to further a government investigation of former Commerce Secretary Ron Brown's death in a plane crash over Crotia. At the time of Ron Brown's death, he was scheduled to be deposed by Judicial Watch. He was also a target of an independent counsel's investigation where an indictment was expected. Brown's former business partner, Nolanda Hill, told Judicial Watch that days before Brown died, Brown went to see Clinton and told him that he intended to enter a plea agreement with the federal prosecutor and testify against the Administration. Clinton responded, according to Hill's sworn testimony, with a terse "that's nice" and Brown told Hill that Clinton left the room in icy silence. Judicial Watch is now representing several of the pathologists and a photographer of the Armed Forces Pathology Institute who examined Brown's body and observed a .45 caliber bullet hole in Ron Brown's head. Judicial Watch has filed Freedom of Information Act requests to obtain all the data on the Brown place crash from the military, the Clinton-Gore Commerce Dept, as well as the Justice and Transportation Departments. The responses to our requests are overdue, and we are now filing suit. Our clients are also considering filing whistleblower suits for Pentagon retaliation against them. That would give us the ability to investigate the apparent cover-up in Ron Brown's death.."

From Freeper Boost-dependent re March for Justice ".Regarding the Waco connection to Clinton: at the 31st March, Gary Aldritch revealed a secret that orders to storm Waco came not from Reno, but directly from the Clinton White House.."
11/17/98 from the Year of the Rat ".In Jakarta, James Riady likes to brag about where he was on the afternoon of April 19, 1993. On that day 80 members of the branch debate in religious cult or holed up in their compound outside of Waco, Texas, when it was shattered by a tank led assault. By the time the FBI and the Treasury's Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents had completed their work, 17 American children had burned to death. As might be expected, the White House was a busy place that afternoon, and the president was preoccupied. Bill Clinton was not too distracted, however, to chat with his leading contributors James Riady, John Huang, and Mark Grobmeyer in his little study off the Oval Office*. James Riady later told Indonesian diplomats that, during their chat, a television in the corner showed the Waco compound burning "over and over" as CNN repeated its coverage. Bill Clinton even took time to show his visitors the White House Situation Room, then on Full Alert **. White House logs confirm that James Riady and his companion were in the presidential offices (West Named) of the White House that day. They apparently also dropped and on Robert Rubin, now Secretary of the treasury, who was then a White House economics official***…"

The deaths concerning the tragedy at Ruby Ridge are listed here because some Freepers believe the inappropriate handling of the incident by the Clinton Administration was a precursor to Waco which was a precursor to Oklahoma City. Waco would have been listed anyway due to decisions made by Attorney General Janet Reno, appointee of Clinton. Oklahoma City would have been listed anyway due to suspicious circumstances involving the administration. The deaths concerning the tragedy of the Ron Brown plane crash are listed here due to suspicions of various pathologists, false reporting of weather conditions and a mysterious post-accident suicide. Deaths resulting from the Embassy bombings are listed due to their probable relationship to the administration's foreign policy failures (see Footprints.) All four were examined by a "private doctor" and died from nearly identical wounds to the left temple, so-called execution style. In his address to employees of the Treasury Department in the Cash Room on March 18, 1993, Clinton said: "My prayers and I'm sure yours are still with the families of all four of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents who were killed in Waco -- Todd McKeehan and Conway Le Bleu of New Orleans; Steve Willis of Houston, and Robert Williams from my hometown of Little Rock. Three of those four were assigned to my security during the course of the primary or general election." However, the Little Rock, Arkansas, office of the ATF confirmed that all four had at one point been bodyguards for Bill Clinton, three while he was campaigning for president, and one while he had been governor of Arkansas. In the autopsies of these agents, three had virtually identical wounds to the left temple that exited through the rear of the head, execution-style. All four were treated by a "private physician." .."

They had been run over by a Union Pacific train. The state medical examiner, Fahmy Malak, ruled that the deaths were accidental--saying the two boys had smoked too much marijuana, and then had fallen asleep on the railroad tracks. But an Atlanta, Ga., forensic pathologist named Joe Burton said that prior to being run over by the train, Don Henry had been stabbed in the back, while Kevin Ives had been beaten in the face. A grand jury ruled the deaths a double homicide. police chief of Alexander, John Brown, acknowledges he obtained a taped confession from one of the murderers of the two boys. The Benton Courier . "U.S. Attorney Paula Casey, contacted at her Little Rock office today, was asked if she was aware of the confession to which Brown refers. " 'I think that, under the circumstances, the best thing for me to say for now is "no comment," ' Casey said. In 1987 Arkansas State Medical Examiner Fahmy Malak ruled the deaths of teenagers Kevin Ives and Don Henry, found run over by a train, "accidental," saying the boys had smoked too much marijuana and fallen asleep on the tracks. A second autopsy and grand jury probe, finding evidence of a knife wound and beatings, declared it "definitely a homicide." Then in 1989 with the controversy over the train deaths case growing, a commission headed by then Arkansas Department of Health Director Joycelyn Elders cleared Dr. Malak. Nine months later, Gov. Clinton proposed a $32,000 raise for the medical examiner. A Malak ruling in a 1981 death case involving Clinton's mother, nurse-anesthetist Virginia Kelley, had helped her avoid intense legal scrutiny. In 1991, a month before Clinton announced his presidential run, Dr. Malak was promoted to a new job as a Health Department consultant to Dr. Elders."
7/20/98 Michael Reagan "Around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 1993, White House counsel Vincent Foster told Linda Tripp, "There are some M&Ms in the candy tray if you want them. I'll be back." Then he left the office. Five hours later, he was found dead in Fort Marcy Park, a gunshot wound in the back of his mouth. That was five years ago today. Despite a mountain of evidence that shows Foster didn't die in that park, Kenneth Starr closed the books on the case in August 1997. Even though the bullet was never found. Even though no motive was established. Even though the 27-piece "suicide note" that turned up days later was not a suicide note at all. Even though Foster's body was covered with fibers (as if it had been rolled up in a carpet). Even though there was no soil from the dusty footpath on his shoes. Investigators gave conflicting versions of almost every aspect of the evidence, including whether or not the bullet produced an exit wound, whether the wound was located in the head or neck, and even whether Foster was found on the ground or in his car. If Vince Foster pressed a .38 against the back of his mouth and pulled the trigger, there should have been burns and gunpowder deposits around the wound, as well as broken teeth and blood on the gun-barrel -- but there was none. The most intriguing evidence is this: Four different people searched Foster's pockets while the body was in the park, but couldn't find his car keys. There were no keys in Foster's Honda in the parking lot. Did the keys eventually turn up? Yes, they did. Where? At the morgue where Foster's body was taken. There, a check of his pockets -- which had already been found empty at the park -- revealed two sets of keys. Could four investigators have missed two sets of keys in Foster's pockets? ..two White House officials who were alone with Foster's body in the morgue shortly before the keys were found: (1) former Rose Law partner and Travelgate figure William Kennedy III, and (2) Craig Livingstone of Filegate fame..The night Foster died, a man named Jerry Luther Parks was watching TV in his Little Rock home when a news bulletin announced Foster's death. Parks turned pale. "I'm a dead man," he whispered. For weeks after Foster's death, he lived in fear, constantly watching his back, and even taking a gun with him when he went to the mailbox. On Sunday, September 25, 1993 -- two months after the Foster death -- Jerry Luther Parks was returning home from a restaurant when a white Chevy Caprice with two men pulled up alongside his car. The passenger sprayed Parks' car with semiautomatic gunfire, then jumped out and finished Parks off with a 9 mm handgun. The killers were never apprehended. Parks had been a player in Bill Clinton's Arkansas political machine for years, and first became acquainted with Foster by doing investigative work for the Rose Law Firm in the 1980s. The London Telegraph's Ambrose Evans-Pritchard reports that in the late '80s, Foster -- apparently on behalf of Hillary Clinton -- hired Parks to do surveillance on Bill Clinton "to gauge exactly how vulnerable her husband would be to charges of philandering" if he ran for president. Parks accumulated thick files (with photographs) detailing the future president's pattern of womanizing. According to Parks' widow, Foster called Parks from Washington about a week before his death, saying Hillary was frantic about those files and the potential damage they could cause both Bill and Hillary. Just a day or two before his death, Foster called Parks again, heatedly demanding the files. Parks refused. A week or so after Foster's death, the Parks home was broken into -- a sophisticated burglary in which phone lines and the alarm system were disabled. The files were stolen. Two months later, Parks was murdered."
Edward Zehr Corruption and Coverup "Two anniversaries have come and gone once more, the crash of TWA Flight 800 off the coast of Long Island on July 17, 1996 and the death of White House deputy counsel Vincent Foster on July 20, 1993. Neither of these incidents has been provided with a satisfactory explanation, although one would never guess it from reading the mainstream press. But then, just what is so unique about that? Coverups are as much an American tradition as apple pie and the Fourth of July. Those who have followed the Clinton scandals closely will have noticed by now that the martyrs and sympathetic figures are invariably discovered by the mainstream press among the ranks of those who have remained loyal to Clinton -- Webster Hubbell, Susan McDougal, Monica Lewinsky, and the like. The mainstream newsies vie with each other providing them tea and sympathy. For "turncoats" such as Susan's erstwhile husband Jim, however, they have little more to give than the back of their hand."
CBN News 7/29/98 Gary Lane "It's late August, 1987, in Arkansas' Saline County ... a time when simmering summer nights slowly surrender to the approach of autumn. A freight train passing through the tiny town of Alexander makes an emergency stop just beyond the bodies of two teenage boys found lying across the tracks. Arkansas medical examiner Dr. Fahmy Malak concludes that Don Henry and Kevin Ives had smoked twenty marijuana cigarettes and then passed out on the tracks. The Ives family wasn't satisfied with Dr. Malak's conclusions. In April 1988, Kevin's body was exhumed, and another autopsy was performed, this one by Atlanta medical examiner Dr. Joseph Burton. "Out of that investigation, Dr. Burton found that Don had been stabbed, and Kevin had received a crushing blow to the face and actually had a pattern injury which fit the plate of a gun butt that Don had been carrying," says Ives. Dr. Burton's autopsy confirmed what Linda and her husband had suspected all along: someone had murdered their son Kevin and his friend Don Henry. But what caused Dr. Malak to arrive at such an outrageous determination of death? Then-Governor Bill Clinton said his state medical examiner was overworked and "stressed out." Former Clinton employee and well-known Clinton critic Larry Nichols says Mr. Clinton was an accomplice in concealing the truth. But why would Mr. Clinton defend Malak, although his rulings had been questioned in more than 20 cases? Dateline NBC and The Los Angeles Times have suggested a motive. They've documented Fahmy Malak's role in clearing Bill Clinton's mother, the late Virginia Kelly, of wrongdoing in the negligent death of a teenage girl at Ouachita Memorial Hospital in 1981. The Los Angeles Times reported that Dr. Malak's ruling helped Clinton's mother avoid scrutiny in the death of patient Susie Deer. The Times quoted the Polaski County coroner as saying there was a lot of speculation that "Malak's ruling in favor of Clinton's mother was a factor" in the governor's decision to retain him as state medical examiner. Then-Governor Clinton said he resented any implications of a connection, and the governor's office proceeded to shut down further investigation of the train deaths. Dr. Malak was eventually removed as state medical examiner, but was given a job as a $70,000 per year consultant to the Arkansas Department of Health. Regardless, a grand jury determined that Kevin Ives and Don Henry had been murdered. But why? Who would want to kill two teens who were just out "deer spotting" on that fateful August night? . "
Newsmax.com 11/23/98 Carl Limbacher ".Could the work of murdered Little Rock security agent Jerry "Luther" Parks have played a role in Vince Foster's death? Last week, Insight magazine recounted the claim of Parks' wife Jane, who says that just days before the deputy White House counsel turned up dead in Fort Marcy Park, he called her husband and told him that he was going to turn a dossier prepared by Parks over to Hillary Clinton. Jane and her son Gary have told reporters that Jerry Parks had been hired by Foster at the direction of Mrs. Clinton to probe the extent of then-Gov. Clinton's womanizing -- with an eye toward damage control when Clinton ran for president. When Parks learned of Foster's death he exclaimed, "I'm a dead man," according to Mrs. Parks. Bill Clinton has welcomed Laborers' Union financial contributions and has received and exchanged gifts with organized-crime Laborers' officials in the White House. On December 3, 1997, Clinton attended a political fundraiser in Chicago which honored a Laborers' official. Corrupt Chicago Democrat mayor Richard M. Daley (brother of Clinton Commerce secretary William Daley) has also publicly honored mob-related Laborers' officials in Chicago. WorldNetDaily 1/12/99 Joseph Farah ".Another very suspicious 'Arkancide' An Arkansas medical examiner has once again concluded "suicide" in a case where common sense might determine otherwise. On Nov. 17, Charles Wilbourne Miller, 63, was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head in a shallow pit about 300 yards from his ranch house near Little Rock. Police found a .410 gauge shotgun near Miller's body and a Ruger .357-caliber revolver submerged in water. Investigators concluded the Ruger was the weapon used by Miller to kill himself. Yet, two rounds in the handgun's cylinder had been spent. Only in Arkansas does a suicide victim use two shots -- not to mention two weapons -- to kill himself. Ferrat was initially treated by the FBI as a suspected terrorist in the TWA Flight 800 explosion because he was the sole passenger on the flight roster listed only by last name. The FBI, within hours of beginning their investigation of Ferrat, oddly withdrew, telling the New York Times that "Ferrat was not at all the kind of person to take a bomb on a plane. Nor was he a likely target of a bomb plot."

On the last data frame of the TWA Flight 800 Flight Data Recorder record. The FDR altitude data for Flight 800 at 00:31:11 (one second before the initial event) - Flight 800 was flying at 13,772 feet. At 00:31:12, Flight 800's altitude was registered as 10,127 feet! It's obvious that Flight 800 didn't drop over 3,600 feet in less than a second. There evidently was a large change in the outside air pressure around Flight 800.
7/17/98 Commander William S. Donaldson III lists 40 issues critical of the handling of the TWA 800 investigation. Two points of curiosity: 25. That the NTSB refused to accept the testimony of Captain Mundo, the flight engineer on the flight previous to FL800, who stated that he left ZERO fuel in the center wing tank, and 26. That the tail of the aircraft failed shortly after the nose came off."
Ian Willimas Goddard 10/8/98 "In a tape-recorded debate between Reed Irvine and James Kallstrom, who headed the FBI's TWA 800 crash investigation, Kallstrom is reported to admit that three ships tracked on radar near the crash "were Navy ships on classified maneuvers."..Kallstrom was recorded by Reed Irvine of Accuracy In Media on September 14, 1998 during a debate between the two over the phone. The tape recording was first released during a special meeting of the organization Judicial Watch. It was first made known to the public on September 28, with the pub- lication of a letter from private investigator Com- mander William Donaldson to Louis Freeh, head of the FBI, wherein Commander Donaldson states: "I...have in my possession a taped conversa- tion held on 14 September 1998 between Deputy Director Kalstrom (Retired) and Mr. Reed Irvine, Chairman of Accuracy in Media. That conversation puts Deputy Director Kalstrom on record with two startling new facts. He alleges: 1. The 30- knot surface contact was a helicopter. 2. Three of the surface radar contacts were U.S. Navy vessels conducting classified operations.".."

NewsMax.com 3/3/99 Carl Limbacher "…Many of the Jane Does interviewed by Paula Jones investigators Rick and Beverly Lambert were reluctant to be dragged into the high-profile case and chose not to come forward. For one prospective Jane Doe, it was a physical impossibility. Kathy Ferguson was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head just five days after Jones filed suit against President Clinton. Kathy's ex-husband, Arkansas State Trooper Danny Ferguson, was named as a co-defendant. Her death was ruled a suicide by local police. With Kathy unavailable, the Lamberts interviewed her friends Sherry Butler and Sam Houston, who both worked at Little Rock's Baptist Memorial Hospital. Their names were submitted into evidence in the closing weeks of the impeachment trial as part of a supplemental witness list in the Jones case. Butler was a licensed practical nurse at Baptist Memorial. She and Houston, the hospital's urologist, were just two of several co-workers in whom Kathy had confided about her own unwanted encounter with Bill Clinton. In 1994, NewsMax.com's executive editor, Chris Ruddy, reported on the incident: "Houston had said he once asked Kathy if she had ever been harassed by Clinton when her former husband served on the governor's security detail. She responded with an account -- which is consistent with what other personnel at the hospital say Ferguson told them on separate occasions -- of having been 'blocked in the kitchen' of the governor's mansion as then-Governor Clinton made unwelcome advances on her. "Sherry Butler said that Ferguson, in speaking of that same incident to her, had said that Clinton 'shoved her against a counter' and wouldn't let her leave the kitchen. "Butler added that Ferguson had been firm in her belief in Paula Jones' testimony. 'That girl is telling the truth,' Butler remembers her friend saying about Jones." (Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Nov. 4, 1994) Rick Lambert confirmed to NewsMax.com that Kathy Ferguson was the reason Butler's and Houston's names were on the Jones witness list: …"
WorldNetDaily 10/28/98 David T. Nash M.D. ".Jim McDougal was an interesting man..Yet there are a number of loose threads in his story that most have never heard of, and many don't seem to want to know about. ..Let's start with the facts -- we do have an autopsy which shows (I quote from official records): Severe hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Cardiomegaly. Left ventricular hypertrophy. Occlusive coronary atherosclerotic disease. Scars of carotid endarterectomy. Status post aorto-femoral bypass grafts. Once in jail he was given Prozac, an antidepressant, but evidently not other drugs according to some witnesses. (There was Prozac in his blood at autopsy. There is no evidence that he received high blood pressure medicine.) He was asked to give a urine specimen, and did not, saying he could not (an effect of antidepressants). The jail people gave him Lasix ( a diuretic) to force his urine (a drug he did not require otherwise). He was placed in a cold (60-degree) cell in isolation. He complained of chest pain but he was not under observation when he collapsed and died after transfer to the hospital. Now the fascinating part is that here is a man in a nationally discussed case, under supervision in a jail, who is known to have high-blood pressure, known to have high cholesterol, and has had not one but two surgical operations directed at the effects of his cholesterol, and they are not treating his cholesterol. He gets a drug he does not need, when they simply could have given him several glasses of water or tea and waited and he would have given them their requested urine sample.."
Pittsburg Tribune Review (See Newsmax.com) 11/4/94 Christopher Ruddy "…Several co-workers of a deceased woman with apparent links to the Paula Jones case have serious doubts as to the accuracy of an official coroner's report concluding that she committed suicide…. The deceased woman, Kathy Ferguson, 38, was the ex-wife of an Arkansas state trooper, Danny Ferguson, who is a co-defendant in Jones' suit…. Last May in Sherwood, Ark., Kathy Ferguson was found dead of a gunshot wound in the apartment of her boyfriend - who himself, in a bizarre twist of an already strange case, was to die shortly thereafter. Police ruled Ferguson's death a "suicide.'' But interviews with six hospital colleagues indicate that Arkansas officials seem to have overlooked critical information relating to her wounds. … Just over a month after her death, Shelton, 31, a Sherwood police officer, was found dead of a gunshot wound behind the right ear, with his body sprawled across Ferguson's grave. The police say that he, too, committed suicide….. Three Baptist Memorial nurses and a nurse's aide who worked with Ferguson viewed her body at Huson's Funeral Home in Sherwood and their observations are in decided conflict with the official ruling: that Ferguson fired a .380 semiautomatic pistol into her right temple, with the bullet exiting her left temple….One nurse, an RN whose almost 15 years' experience includes emergency room duty, noted that, curiously, the woman's right temple "was pretty much blown away.'' "Usually exit wounds blow out and entry wounds are clean,'' she explained. The three nurses were puzzled by what looked to them to be an exit wound in the right temple, since they knew Ferguson to be right-handed. …Eventually, one of the nurses located the apparent entrance wound. Contrary to the subsequently released official report, it was directly behind her left ear about midway between the top and bottom of the ear, and was the size of a "quarter and stuffed with cotton.'' All three nurses - one the RN, the other two LPNs - also clearly saw this cotton-stuffed wound behind Ferguson's left ear. At least two other hospital colleagues subsequently visited the funeral home and made the same observation…. Still, there are five other hospital employees - three of whom are trained nurses with many years of combined experience - who examined Ferguson's wounds. All of them were interviewed on tape for this report (and all have requested anonymity, citing concerns for their safety). They agree there was a small circular wound typical of an entrance wound behind the left ear, and no exit wound in the left temple area, where the autopsy report had it….Vernon Geberth, author of an authoritative police text titled, Practical Homicide Investigations, held a similar opinion to that of Houston's. "If I have a woman with a gunshot wound to the head, that raises the hair on the back of my neck. Women will usually not blow their heads up.'' Geberth is a retired New York City Police lieutenant commander who headed up the Bronx homicide task force and has been involved in some 5,000 death investigations…."People don't commit suicide by putting a gun behind their head. People who are shot behind the ear are usually executed.''…Houston agreed. "The post-op nurses are well-trained in multiple areas: surgical, medical, trauma,'' he said, emphasizing their expertise in treating wounds of all kinds….She responded with an account - which is consistent with what other personnel at the hospital say Ferguson told them on separate occasions - of having been "blocked in the kitchen'' of the governor's mansion as the then-Gov. Clinton made unwelcome advances on her. Sherry Butler said that Ferguson, in speaking of that same incident to her, had said that Clinton "shoved her against a counter'' and wouldn't let her leave the kitchen. Butler added that Ferguson had been firm in her belief in Paula Jones' testimony. "That girl is telling the truth,'' Butler remembers her friend saying about Jones in the presence of several hospital workers sitting at a cafeteria table. "Don't put anything past'' Clinton, Ferguson said…."

Media Bypass 11/98 Pat Shannan ".The first expert to go public with the ANFO discrepancies was USAF Brig-adier General (ret.) Benton K. Partin. Sitting in his living room in Virginia and merely looking only at photos in Time, Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report was enough to catch his discerning eye. The exposed rebar on the severed columns at the third-floor level was adequate evidence for Partin. He knew that an air blast from a truck on the street could never remove reinforced concrete and steel. Then he noticed the remaining standing columns between the truck and the one taken out in the left center of the Murrah Building. He knew this was impossible, unless there were charges planted at the collapsed column. Partin noted three such columns from the magazine photos and found a fourth by viewing expanded fire department photos on a later visit to Oklahoma City. Later study revealed the macabre evidence of a fifth charge having been detonated underneath the children s nursery on the second floor. General Partin's credentials and military record are impeccable. Most of his 31-year career in the air force was spent in demolition. He headed up the USAF's Explosive Research Laboratory. If the FBI were really looking for the truth in this case, could they find a better expert witness than Ben Partin? The theory of the ANFO bomb exploding in a truck on the street and wreaking the kind of damage seen for blocks around is akin to a pea-shooter bringing down a spaceship.. General Partin's facts in evidence served to confirm what had been only theories of many others such as this writer who barely passed high school chemistry. But even those who flunked Physics and Logic could understand the Partin report. Apparently this group did not include the some 60 congressman and senators to whom Partin hand-delivered his eight-page letter on Capitol Hill. Only one had the courtesy to respond, said "It's too deep for me," and passed it on the FBI.."

NewsMax.com 3/25/99 Christopher Ruddy "…On April 29, 1996, the wires flashed with hot news: Former CIA Director William Colby had disappeared from his country home on the Wicomico River in Maryland. Authorities suspected he died in a canoeing accident, as his waterlogged canoe was found on the shore near his home. A week later, his body surfaced in the marsh near his home. After a perfunctory autopsy, local police authorities closed the case as an accident. Still, there were many reasons to suspect foul play. These suspicions began as soon as the initial press reports came out. As expected, the Associated Press ran the first wire story. Colby "was missing and presumed drowned" the AP reported. The wire story said he died as the result of "an apparent boating accident." Quoting a source close to Mrs. Colby, who was in Texas at the time her husband disappeared, the AP stated Colby had spoke via phone with his wife on the day he disappeared. He told her he was not feeling well, "but was going canoeing anyway." This would be an important clue pointing to an accidental death, had it been true. But someone fabricated this story out of whole cloth. A week later, Colby's wife rebutted the AP report, telling the Washington Times her husband was well, and made no mention of canoeing. This initial, false report that relieved obvious suspicion was, for me, a red flag of a cover-up Interesting, too, were the obituaries being written. All detailed Colby's fabled career in the World War II-era OSS, the James Bond-like spy who parachuted behind Nazi lines and became a stellar CIA agent. After heading up the Company's Phoenix program in Vietnam, Colby was tapped by President Nixon for the position of DCI -- Director of Central Intelligence. These obituaries detailed a formidable list of Colby's associations after he left the CIA. Yet, nowhere did any media report Colby's most significant occupation at the time of his death -- contributing editor for Davidson's Strategic Investment. Odd that Colby's major affiliation at the same time of his death deserved no notice…."
Senate Report 9/30/95 "…The Clinton administration failed to see the risks of the U.S. effort to capture a Somali warlord, a shortcoming that contributed to a disastrous 1993 raid that left 18 U.S. soldiers dead, a Senate review concludes. The report, released late Friday, went to lengths to avoid placing specific blame on President Clinton. But it made clear that Clinton and his top advisers supported the United Nations' request to capture Mohammed Farrah Aidid, the Somali faction leader, despite the reservations of U.S. military commanders. When difficulties emerged, it said, these officials failed to change course. "It is clear that both civilian officials and military leaders should have been carefully and continually re-evaluating the Task Force Ranger mission and tactics after each raid, with an eye toward recommending that the operation be terminated if the risks were deemed to have risen too high," the report concluded. Written by Sens. John Warner, R-Va., and Carl Levin, D-Mich., two senior members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, the report focuses on the fatal Oct. 3, 1993, firefight in Mogadishu that precipitated a hasty American withdrawal from what began as a famine-relief effort. "U.S. foreign policy was and will be affected for years as a result of the raid," according to the report…… The report makes clear that Army Gen. Colin Powell, then chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Marine Gen. Joseph Hoar, then the U.S. commander overseeing Somalia, voiced reservations about the Ranger mission to "get Aidid." It quoted Hoar as saying: "I told the policy guys that it was a bad thing to do. I thought there was a 50 percent chance of getting the required intelligence, and, once gotten, only a 50 percent chance that we would get Aidid. So it was a 25 percent chance of success" Powell was similarly dubious. "We sent Task Force Ranger with the greatest reluctance," he was quoted in the report. But because the top officers in Mogadishu supported the mission, he said, "I will go along since as a general principle I believe in supporting the commander in the field." The aggressive pursuit of Aidid amid a broader policy of U.S. force reductions in Somalia reflected the "uncoordinated and unclear" U.S. policies, according to the report. "It was a mistake to seek to marginalize the (Somali) warlords," it contended. "More emphasis should have been placed on political negotiations prior to deciding to use military force." The military did not escape criticism in the report. It said the Army Ranger unit that conducted the Oct. 3 raid was hampered by an overzealous, "can-do" attitude typical of special forces. Moreover, it said, Gen. Garrison established a predictable pattern in the Rangers' pursuit of Aidid that "served to announce the presence and mission of his task force, if they were not already known, and to reveal some of the tactics that the task force would use." …."
Air Force Times 3/29/99 Bryant Jordan "…The two HH-60 Pave Hawks from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., were still burning when would-be rescuers arrived at the scene just after 2 a.m. Sept. 4, more than four hours after the helicopters had collided and crashed. The wreckage was scattered over a 1,200-square-foot swath of desert. The 12 crewmen were dead….. Now, a different kind of heat is being generated by an exhaustive five-volume report on the disaster that Air Force officials released March 15. Pilot error is the report's conclusion, but it also makes clear there is plenty of blame to go around -- and that the accident had been at least five years in the making. The overwhelming contributing factors leading up to the disaster, wrote lead investigator Col. Denver Pletcher, was "a high ops/pers tempo coupled with leadership problems, internal and external training deficiencies, broken squadron processes, low aircrew experience level, and midlevel supervisory breakdown." In Pletcher's opinion, "this squadron was on a path to disaster." Like so many other units throughout the Air Force, the 66th was working lean. As a combat search-and-rescue squadron it was a "low density/high demand" outfit, meaning its assets were limited and its capabilities specialized, but demand for its services was high…."
Air Force Times 3/29/99 Jennifer Palmer "…The problems at the 66th Rescue Squadron were among the most serious in the Air Force, but the unit was by no means the only one in Air Combat Command severely stressed by trying to do so much. Command officials have been tracking each of its squadrons to see which are most stressed, said Gen. Richard Hawley, who runs Air Combat Command. As of February, the command had one unit considered "red hot," or severely stressed, he said. That was the 38th and 343rd reconnaissance squadrons at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. The squadrons count as one unit in the command's comparison system because they both fly the RC-135 Rivet Joint. The primary reason for the "red hot" categorization is their deployment schedule, which exceeds the goal of no more than 120 days per airman per year…..Eleven units are considered "hot," stressed to the point where command officials are concerned. One is the 66th Rescue Squadron, which remains seriously stressed in spite of changes put into place before and after the September 1998 crash. The 71st and 41st rescue squadrons at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., also made the list…."

USA Today 4/28/99 Duncan Hunter "...The Clinton-Gore team has bled the military such that the Army is short $3.5 billion worth of basic ammunition alone. The Marines are short $193 million. Combined shortages for the Navy and Air Force exceed $6 billion. The services also face critical shortages of spare parts, equipment and training. This short funding has contributed to 56 military crashes in the past 14 months, resulting in 62 dead Americans. None were in combat, but were the result of the Clinton-Gore team stretching the military so thin it is now breaking. While Congress has added $29.5 billion over the past five years, the ammo pouches and spare-parts bins remain nearly empty. The formula for calculating the shortages is easy: Take the president's "Two Major Regional Conflict Plan" (that is, our military should be big and strong enough to fight and win two, nearly simultaneous wars) and match it against stocks of ammunition, parts and equipment. This brings enormous shortages to light. Last week, the services gave us their shortage list for near-term war-fighting capability, documented down to specific ammunition and spare parts: The Air Force alone reports shortages of $18 billion; the Navy, $3.8 billion; the Army, $3.7 billion; and Marines, $3.2 billion. Against this $28.7 billion need, the administration offers a mere $5.5 billion, one-fifth of what it will take to outfit our services properly. The Clinton-Gore treatment of our men and women in uniform is clear: They are inadequately paid (about 11,000 military personnel are now on food stamps); they are short on ammunition; and mission capability rates have fallen below 70% across the board. Many of our aircraft are considered dangerous to fly. All while the president continues to deploy our troops at a feverish pace. Congress should reverse the starvation diet the president has given our military personnel and fully fund the current $28.7 billion shortage...."

World Net Daily 4/30/99 Joel A. Ruth "....It was five days before Christmas, 1969. A time of year when Americans are busy converging on family, celebrating Chanukah, offering prayers of thanksgiving, out caroling, trimming trees, or, as Christians, preparing to rejoice in the birth of their Savior. But while most Americans were wrapping gifts and worshipping before God, the future President of the United States was standing in silent tribute and awe before the mummy of Vladimir Lenin. How did this happen? On December 19, 1969, Bill Clinton had boarded an Aeroflot flight from London for the USSR to Moscow, the center of world atheism and the capital of the Soviet-Marxist state. William Jefferson Clinton's pilgrimage to the Soviet Union was the climax of a busy fall semester as a "Rhodes Scholar" at Oxford. It should perhaps be mentioned to those impressed by such presumed status that Rhodes Scholarships are granted to individuals passing ideological muster whose sentiments during the interview process are reflective of acceptable left-wing views to the selection committees, and not because of good grades..... While Bill Clinton has never explained who paid for his trip to Moscow, he was accompanied by a friend and fellow Oxford student, Czech Jan Kopold. They were to attend a meeting of the War Moratorium Committee to be held January 2, 1970. Upon arrival, Clinton did not check into a youth hostel, but rather stayed at the Hotel National, the most exclusive and expensive one in Moscow of that time -- a ritzy place usually reserved for foreign ambassadors and high-level Communist Party apparatchiks. In today's terms, that trip would probably cost several thousand dollars. Clinton only had his tiny $275 Rhodes stipend to live on and never held a job. Thus, it is easy to believe that this tab and the arrangements could only have handled by the KGB, which during that epoch limited no expenses in its attempts to recruit promising American students in Europe. Clinton has also never accounted for the 11 days spent in Moscow before the actual meeting of the War Moratorium and has never revealed who paid his expenses or what he did or who he met with during that time..... Even more telling was Clinton's January 4 return trip from Moscow on another Aeroflot jet. The flight terminated in Prague, then the capital of the Czechoslovakian Soviet Socialist Republic (CSSR). There, Clinton was a guest of Jan Kopold's father, Bedrich Kopold and Jan's maternal grandmother Maria Svermova, who was the original founder of the Czech Communist Party in the 1930s. During his visit, she took a liking to young Bill; they walked and talked. Svermova's deceased husband was the original editor of Rude Pravo, the Czech Communist Party paper before the War. ..... The entire Kopold clan was a significant part of the ruling Communist party elite and was responsible for those murders and deportations either by the act or as formulators of policy. In fact, 11 out of 12 Politburo leaders of the Czech Communist Party were apostate Jews who had taken refuge in Moscow just prior to the German occupation of the Czech rump state in 1939. It was easy for the Communists to seize control in 1948 without popular resistance because the Germans had confiscated all private weapons during the War. ....Years later, when Clinton was President, he again flew to Moscow, this time on Air Force One, to meet Boris Yeltsin. Then, on his return flight he had the plane stop in Prague, where, besides playing the saxophone -- important stuff -- he went to visit the parents of his Oxford friend Jan Kopold. By then, Maria Svermova had died of old age. As for Jan Kopold, he had been killed earlier in an "accidental fall" in Turkey in 1970, becoming perhaps the first of a long string of former Clinton friends and associates to meet an untimely end. ....After Clinton's short-lived tenure at Oxford -- he never finished his second semester there -- he remained a member of The Mobilization Committee, a Communist-front organization dedicated to undermining the strength of the United States and opposing American initiatives against the communist world movement, for another three years..... Clinton's youthful affiliations explain many of his recent actions. Why, for example, the International Socialists were able to hold their annual conclave in February 1995, as guests of Papa-Marx Aristide at Haiti's National Palace in Port-au-Prince after Clinton restored the volatile voodoo priest to power. This explains why I stood in dismay observing a huge banner in front of the Palace proclaiming that event, while non-comprehending U.S. soldiers stood guard outside protecting it and the delegates inside, those very persons sworn to destroy everything most Americans revere. ...."

Times Examiner 5/12/99 Anne Huff "...The Forum entitled "From Eagle Forum to 20/20." The article told the story of Tara Becker's experience at Columbine High School with "death education." Becker explained that the subject of death was integrated into many of the courses at her high school. She said that death was made to look glamorous, that living was hard, and that reincarnation would solve their problems. Students were told they would always return in a much better life form. They would return to the "oversoul" and become like God. After one of the students at her school committed suicide, a "suicide talking day" was held and every class was to talk about death. Class assignments were for students to write their own obituaries and suicide notes. They were told to trust their own judgement in choosing whether to live or die. Becker said she began her desire to die in order to get away from "the enslavement her own body entrapped her spirit in." Death was made to look more glamorous than living, and she felt she would be doing the overpopulated planet a favor by removing herself. She said she thought for months about how to commit suicide. Becker gave the author a booklet called "Masquerade," which she had helped compile for one of her classes. The booklet was full of subliminal pictures and prose. She explained how she had been taught to use the hidden, double-meaning subliminals and how she had focused so much of her time and attention on death that she had tried to commit suicide. The article stated that reportedly, some teachers receive only three hours of training before teaching death education classes. Colorado is the home of outcome-based education guru William Spady. According to Spady, "the traditional subject based curriculum disappears" from OBE. Outcome-based education requires students to exhibit certain core values and beliefs before they are allowed to graduate from high school....."

Defending America 5/18/99 David Hackworth "...David Gibbs and Kevin Reichert are dead. Their helicopter crashed on May 5 while on a training flight in the rugged mountains of northeast Albania. Both pilots were highly motivated and loved to fly the Army's most lethal killing machine, the Apache. One of the most dangerous soldiering jobs going. While Gibbs and Reichert are the first reported American dead from Clinton's conflict in Serbia, there surely will be more dead and wounded from their Task Force Hawk if this bad war bumbles on and cooler heads don't prevail...... So far, two birds have been lost to accidents. Aviation insiders say the mishaps might have been prevented had the crews been trained up to snuff at their home, base in Germany. But insufficient training funds cut back flying hours, and complaints of local civilians reduced night-flying exercises.....As seen on a small scale with the Apache pilots, the Army's slogan, WE FIGHT AS WE TRAIN is more spin than fact. Throughout today's military, few units are up to strength or have sufficient money to train. All are doing too much with too little because of Clinton's seven-year misuse and abuse of our forces..... An aviation battalion commander told me last week, "I have no faith in the uniformed senior leaders protecting us from the idiots in the White House." I do. The Pentagon "Four Stars" running things today were the lieutenants and captains in Vietnam. No way they've forgotten the mistakes the top brass made back then and how no one stood tall. They'll stand tall and keep asking: How can a few Army choppers make a difference when more than a thousand NATO aircraft haven't done the job in two months of bombing? ...Gen Clark is choosing instead to use the Apache solo in "Deep Strike" Missions, much as the Air Force uses planes. But the Apache won't be zipping along at 15,000 feet, it'll be flying "slow and low" against Serb grunts well supplied with hand-held, heat-seeking missiles -- the same type of missiles that ate up the Soviet gunship fleet in Afghanistan. Clark should know that the battlefield is not the place to experiment with new tactics. But, like Westmoreland in Vietnam, he's desperate to win and willing to gamble with his soldiers' lives. Unlike their Vietnam predecessors, the Four Stars of the Joint Chiefs of Staff must do their duty and ground the Apaches for now. The risk is not worth the potential gain. ...."

MSNBC 5/19/99 Norman Solomon From the perspective of a Cluster Bomb "...[Some legal scholars contend that the ongoing use of cluster bombs in the air war against Yugoslavia is a violation of protocols to the Geneva Conventions because those bombs are indiscriminate in their grisly impacts on civilians. The Pentagon acknowledges that U.S. cluster bombs are killing some civilians in Yugoslavia but claims that this does not violate international law because the intended targets are military.] A news article that I found in the May 8 edition of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that "the bombs struck next to the hospital complex and near the market, bringing death and destruction, peppering the streets of Serbia's third-largest city with shrapnel and littering the courtyards with yellow bomb casings." This was one of my few moments in the U.S. media limelight, so forgive me while I quote some more: "In a street leading from the market, dismembered bodies were strewn among carrots and other vegetables in pools of blood. A dead woman, her body covered with a sheet, was still clutching a shopping bag filled with carrots." I know, it's immodest to flaunt my press notices. But people don't get to see those sorts of news accounts very much in America! If the stories are reported at all, they're usually buried (ha ha) on back pages of newspapers and rarely even mentioned on the networks. ... BBC correspondent John Simpson has been reporting from Belgrade, and he did a rather brusque commentary that the Sunday Telegraph in London published a few days ago. "In Novi Sad and Nis, and several other places across Serbia and Kosovo where there are no foreign journalists, heavier bombing has brought more accidents," Simpson carped. He complained that cluster bombs "explode in the air and hurl shards of shrapnel over a wide radius." And he went on to say: "Used against human beings, cluster bombs are some of the most savage weapons of modern warfare." Cluster bombs like me could do without the overheated pejoratives, thank you. Fortunately, we hardly ever have to endure such indignities in the American press. But please don't forget the very real accomplishments that I can partially claim as my own. The next time you see a headline or hear a newscaster referring to the "air campaign," remember that my achievements are outrageously understated by such jargon. You see, I'm a 1,000-pound marvel, a cluster bomb with an ingenious design. When I go off, a couple of hundred "bomblets" shoot out in all directions, aided by little parachutes that look like inverted umbrellas. Those 'chutes slow down the descent of the bomblets and disperse them so they'll hit plenty of what my maker calls "soft targets." Before that happens, though, each bomblet breaks into about 300 pieces of jagged steel shrapnel. Sometimes, as a cluster bomb, I get a little jealous of the exaggerated notoriety that the news media confer on outfits like the National Rifle Association. They get credited with the proliferation of murder and mayhem. Well, they're rank amateurs! Piddling sidearms pushers! Compared to me, they're small-time retailers. I'm into wholesale. They don't know how to preserve, protect and defend the Grim Reaper as I do....."

Washington Weekly 11/17/97 "...Money needed for legitimate spending by the Clinton campaign flowed through the Lippo- controlled Worthen Bank of Little Rock, which among other cash transfers granted Clinton a crucial $3.5 million "loan" to bring him over the top in the New York primary. Money needed for legitimate spending by the Democrat National Committee was laundered primarily through the Pacific Leadership Council. For Clinton's 1996 re-election, additional money for the DNC and for various committees and funds operating on behalf of Bill Clinton was laundered though individual bag men like Charlie Trie and Johnny Chung, who had the money wired to them directly from the Bank of China. But in 1992, the most significant use of funds, we suspect, was illegitimate. A campaign such as that of Bill Clinton cannot succeed without the availability of unlimited cash to buy off bank regulators and public officials to look the other way. To pay local, state, and federal police officers to block investigations and grand jury proceedings. To pay newspaper reporters and editors to avert their gaze and stop investigating sensitive issues. To throw around in vote-buying efforts, in the Clinton campaign referred to as "walking-around money." All these illegitimate uses of campaign money have one thing in common. The money need not be laundered. It need only be brought in from the donor. And brought in it was. In planeloads of cash, brought in through the remote Mena airport and transferred to the trunk of the Cadillac of bag man Jerry Parks who, according to the London Telegraph, together with Vince Foster transported the illegal cash to Little Rock. Both Foster and Parks are now dead, and we have no idea how much cash was brought in through this route, though we suspect it surpassed the amount of money that was laundered into legitimate political spending. Of all the bag men discovered so far, six are now dead, 36 have pleaded the Fifth Amendment, eleven have fled the country, and eleven are living in foreign countries and refuse to cooperate...."

By late 1994, we learned that Kevin and Don were murdered by law enforcement officials because they stumbled upon a drug drop from an airplane..... As soon as the Mena connection was made,(10) I knew the FBI investigation would be shut down.(11) The agent argued; "Who has the power to shut down the FBI." My response; "Who, indeed." (Bill Clinton was president by this time.) Not only was the FBI case closed, Linda and Larry Ives were told there was no evidence that a crime had even been committed...... Aside from obtaining our primary goal of exposing the murders and cover-ups, it is particularly satisfying that our non-partisan plea for justice is opening the eyes of people who once had blind-partisan-faith....* Jean Duffey: jean@idmedia.com mailto:jean@idmedia.com* Linda Ives: linda@idmedia.com mailto:linda@idmedia.com..."
Itar-Tass 6/8/99 "....Three Yugoslav citizens were killed by Monday's air blow delivered by NATO on the Pancevo farm. Four people were wounded when NATO missiles hit the Kosovo village of Donja-Budriga not far from Gnjilane, where a bomb ruined an appartment house. The main strikes were aimed at Kosovo districts close to the Albanian border. During the past 24 hours more than 110 missiles and bombs have hit the area. No casualties have been reported from there, but apparently the material damage was enormous....."
Times of London 6/7/99 Eva-Ann Prentice "...'If and when Nato-led troops enter Kosovo, the peacekeepers may well find themselves having to protect Serb civilians from the KLA'.... But if Nato bombs caused amusement to Nebojsa and his fellow Serbs, there was one aspect of life in Kosovo that did alarm him - the Kosovo Liberation Army. Sweat formed on his brow as he drove around the province, gun at the ready, uneasily scouring deserted roads which the Serbs know are the domain of nests of KLA snipers. On Friday Nebojsa was buried in his native Belgrade. His destiny came at just after 3.30pm when he and seven others, myself included, found ourselves at a road tunnel being bombed by Nato in southwest Kosovo. Nebojsa is now hopefully at peace.....In Kosovo, the apparent end comes as one side - the KLA - is in the ascendant. Although it was largely vanquished as an organised fighting force by the Yugoslav Army in the first two weeks of the bombing, small bands of snipers have made huge inroads across Kosovo in the past two weeks and now terrorise Serb military and civilian traffic daily across almost half the province. No one ventures away from the relative safety of the towns unarmed. The KLA is believed to have between 15,000 and 17,000 guerrillas operating in Kosovo today, compared with about 5,000 when the Nato campaign began, all better armed and trained than they were in March...."
Reuters 6/8/99 "....A NATO B-52 bomber caught two Yugoslav Army battalions in the open after Serbia stalled on pulling its troops out of Kosovo and many hundreds of troops may have been killed, alliance sources said Tuesday. The B-52 dropped sticks of gravity bombs on the troop concentrations near the Kosovo-Albania border Monday, carpeting a hillside area where some 400 to 800 soldiers were estimated to have been in the field, they said...."
Washington Post 6/9/99 William Drozdiak "…Several hundred Yugoslav soldiers are believed to have been killed in a raid by an American B-52 bomber that caught them massing in a field near the Kosovo-Albanian border on Monday, NATO sources said. The B-52 was ordered to drop a huge passel of cluster bombs on the troops, estimated to number between 800 and 1,200 soldiers. Initial aerial assessments showed such massive annihilation that fewer than half of the Serb-led Yugoslav forces are believed to have survived, according to alliance military sources. "This hit must have really stunned them," a NATO official said. "There's no doubt that the Serbs suffered enormous casualties. They were absolutely pulverized."...."
6/13/99 AFP "...Three Serb soldiers were killed Sunday in the southern Kosovo town of Prizren by German members of the Kosovo peacekeeping force in an exchange of gunfire, witnesses told AFP...."
Associated Press 6/13/99 "....German troops came under heavy sniper fire Sunday in this southern Kosovo city and killed at least one armed man and wounded another in the firefight. A German soldier suffered an arm wound. Other German peacekeepers had been greeted earlier by cheering ethnic Albanians when they entered Prizren, Kosovo's second-largest city, in Germany's first major military deployment on foreign soil since World War II. In the shooting incident, a German convoy was moving down a road along the Bistrica River near the main square when sniper fire crackled from a hill and houses. German soldiers took cover and began shooting back. The Germans' heavy fire blasted a yellow Lada car with two occupants. One was slumped dead over the steering wheel and the other was badly wounded and screaming for help before he was evacuated by German medics...."
6/13/99 UPI "...At least three people have died in connection with the NATO peacekeeping operation in Kosovo as the alliance continued to bolster its forces. A Serb policeman, a German journalist and a Yugoslav civilian were all shot to death in separate incidents in the province, where ethnic Albanians are welcoming the arrival of the KFOR military operation...."
The Indian Express 6/15/99 "...Beta, quoting eyewitnesses, said six KLA gunmen intercepted a column of Serbs leaving the village of Kojlovica, some five km north of Pristina. It said two brothers from the Krstic family and a man identified as Dragan Jovanovic were extracted by the KLA from the column and shot dead on the spot with automatic weapons. Beta quoted the mother of the Krstic brothers as saying they were slain in the presence of their children and wives. In Pristina, a Serb employee of radio Pristina was shot dead in front of his home and three other Serbs were abducted, Beta said. It had no further details...."
New York Post 6/15/1999 Uri Dan "....THE Serb villagers fleeing Kosovo want it known that the Albanians aren't the only refugees of the troubled province with horror stories to tell. Lubomir Lakic's story goes this way: His father went to the Serbian Orthodox church in their village Sunday morning to pray, and was horrified to find the young priest inside with his throat slit. "He also saw 10 Kosovo Liberation Army people coming out of the church," Lakic said. "The KLA knifed and slaughtered the priest of our village." Like many accounts of atrocities being told now by Serbs, this remains unverified in the chaotic aftermath of the retreat by Slobodan Milosevic's forces from Kosovo. But, true or not, it contributes to the panic sweeping Kosovo. Lakic said after he heard how ethnic Albanians "stabbed to death two farmers in their homes," his family decided to run for their lives. The Lakic family proudly traces its roots in Mousoutiste back to the 14th century - when the sacred Church of Saint Bogoroditza was built. "We wanted to stay in the village, but we were terrified by the assassination of Father Atza," Lakic said yesterday as he drove a tractor on the clogged road that was taking him, his father, wife, son and daughter out of Kosovo....."
New York Post 6/15/1999 Uri Dan "...."All of us, about 350 families, decided to leave" their homes in Mousoutiste, 50 miles from Pristina, he said. Just as they reached the outskirts of their village, they encountered NATO forces - who were clearly on the side of the KLA, Lakic charged. "I don't know if they were British or French. I was too shocked to identify them because they stopped us. "They told all the men to lie on the road and they took our guns and our pistols, while the KLA were standing on the other side of the road armed and stoning us," said Lakic, 33. "For me, it was the worst sign that these NATO forces came here to push the Serbs out of Kosovo because [NATO] sided, on that terrible part of our road, with the KLA." ...."
Washington Post Foreign Service 6/16/99 Peter Finn, David Finkel, R. Jeffrey Smith, Michael Dobbs "…The war's survivors climbed from their cellars and homemade bunkers today to discover their 500-year-old city, once the jewel of southwestern Kosovo, turned into a graveyard. Homes and shops are blackened skeletons along streets clotted with rubble and glass. The dead, and there are hundreds, lie in makeshift graves in family courtyards and under fresh earth in the local cemetery. The living, and there are few, are sunk in despair as they wander through the harvest of the whirlwind, their bellies empty as they scratch for food. They point to houses where two, three, 30 people were executed, their bodies sometimes carbonized by fire. …. Seven Washington Post reporters, traveling across Kosovo today to assess the breadth of the destruction, found new evidence of massacres by Belgrade government security forces and a pattern of killings that suggested executions of ethnic Albanian civilians were carried out in community after community across a wide swath of the province. The evidence and accounts of returning Kosovo residents spoke of a grim period of reckoning: In the identification of a mass grave that appears to hold scores of bodies from a slaughter at a strip mine; of abandoned human remains in deserted towns; in the execution today of a man in front of his daughter; and in a son's discovery of the fate of his father…."
UPI 6/16/99 "…Although the Yugoslav army has assured NATO it has marked all its minefields, "there is no indication that has been done," said a NATO peacekeeping force official (Wednesday). The borders with Albania and Macedonia, the most heavily traveled routes of returning refugees, are heavily mined, the official said. Four have died from encounters with mines so far…."
AP 6/16/99 "…Killings, beatings, sexual assaults and torture by Serb forces of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo were widespread and far more than just isolated attacks, according to a survey by a physicians' group. Physicians for Human Rights interviewed 1,180 refugees and found that one in every three households endured some kind of physical abuse. ``What our study clearly speaks to was this was part of a wide-scale, methodical, brutal pattern of abuse,'' said Dr. Allen Keller, one of the study's authors and director of the Center for Health and Human Rights at the New York University School of Medicine….Combined, the refugees detailed 598 separate incidents of torture, killing and physical abuse…."
