I received an email this morning from a friend of mine who works in House Speaker Denny Hastert's office. He reports that that the word on the Hill is that Capitol Hill Blue publisher Doug Thompson is seriously ill with a brain tumor and has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past three weeks.
I sent an email to Jack Sharp, the editor of Capitol Hill Blue this morning to try and get more information, but I thought fellow freepers might want to know. Doug and his web site have been strong supporters of Free Republic and I felt others would want to join my family in our prayers for Doug for a swift and complete recovery.
I haven't seen anything about it on Capitol Hill Blue to date, but Doug's email is dougthompson@capitolhillblue.com. Jack Sharp can be reached at editor@capitolhillblue.com.
May God hold Doug in the palm of His mighty Hand.
Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Come and see the works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire.
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Doug Thompson you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Bump for prayers.
A bump and a prayer.
You're a patriot, and a gentleman.
America is the better for your voice.
Mr. Thompson, my thoughts and prayers are with you. May God give you the strength to carry on the fight to a full recovery.
Capitol Hill Blue is one of the few souces for us to get the truth. We appreciate all you have done.
I pray that God will be with you every step of the way in your illness.
Reporting for duty! Prayer is the best tool we have.
Yesterday, it sounded extrememly doubtful for the 5 year old shot in CA, today the news is much better. I know that people all over the country were praying for him.
Now, it's time to thank God for sustaining him - and to pray for Doug.
You're right. Prayers and a bump!

Will send prayer to God, and e-mail to Doug. He's one of the really good guys of this world, and we are all grateful for all he has done to bring the truth to light.
Fight the good fight Doug, we're all behind you.
I'm in. Will say some prayers for Doug's recovery.

Doug has done a great job! Many of us will be saying prayers for his recovery.
He's in my thoughts (as evidenced by some of my posts ... ) and now in my prayers as well.
God Bless you Doug, you are in our prayers.
Romans 1:17 "But the righteous man shall live by faith"

In Jesus mighty name!

God bless you, Doug. We all pray for your recovery.
Sam Donaldson is also recovering from surgery.
His creation has been a flaming beacon of truth for untold thousands. My spirit is crushed by the news.
Email received from Doug:
Jim: Many thanks for the kind thoughts. I wasn't aware the word was out until a freeper sent me a copy of the post. It's not as bad as it sounds. The tumor is benign, but they are zapping it with chemo as an alternative to surgery. Hopefully, I'll be back on my feet by September. I appreciate the concern and please pass my thanks on to all. DougHang in there, Doug. We'll keep the prayers going.
Thanks for the news, could be much worse. Hope the chemo shrinks it.
Thanks for the update Jim... I will still continue to pray.
May God carry you through these times. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Thanks for the info, arj. I have never told that organization how much they are appreciated. Someone I love has a brain tumor, so we have 4 years on that front. I'll give them some leads, if I can. B
CHB is a daily site for me , godspeed for a full recovery.
My prayers are with you, sir. We need you on your feet soon.
a bump for the 1st Amendment. Thanks, Doug Thompson
I was the first one to e-mail Doug Thompson and tell him about Free Republic after reading some of his stuff on his website. My prayers go out to him. He has been a loyal friend and a beacon of light out of that dark city we know as Washington D.C.
Amen, I'm in agreement with the prayers.
Bmp.
I just received this email from Jack Sharp, Capitol Hill Blue's editor:
Our email box has been overflowing today with expressions of sympathy for Doug's recovery. He's trying to answer personally each of the messages, but tires easily (a side effect of the chemo), so please understand if he takes a few days to get all the messages answered.
Please pass this on: While any brain tumor is serious, Doug's tumor is not, repeat not, malignant. They are giving him chemo to try and avoid surgery and the doctors are extremely confident that he will make a full and complete recovery without having to go under the knife.
Our thanks for the many expressions of concern and prayers. They are very much appreciated. We're always been proud that Capitol Hill Blue is considered part of the Free Republic family.
Jack Sharp and the staff
of Capitol Hill Blue
Thank you for sharing this so that I can pray for Doug every day. Most sincere hopes for his quick and strong recovery.
I've been reading and posting his material on FR for a while now.
He is one of the really good people.
I'm glad to hear the prognosis is encouraging so we can look for more truth from him and his excellent staff.
Doug, my wife had a simular situation with a benign tumor but they had to go after it due to other complications. Now, two years later, she is leading a normal screan at the husband and daughter life. I hope for the best from a longtime lurker.
Jeez, I hope things will be okay with Doug -- he's been one of the few media voices willing to speak out against Crime Central.
A big bump and a prayer.
Hope you have a speedy recovery...your courage and truth is a beacon of light to many.
