About 25 to 30 people were there. ED from NJ and his son Mike, three members of our organization (one with their five children), The Philadelphia Campaign For Constitutional Justice were present besides Don and myself. The rest were Cuban Americans, mostly elderly. All were very lovely people, nicely dressed, polite, humble and PEACEFUL. All were most upset aobut Elian several were so upset they couldn't speak about it!!!
We met in front of the LIBERTY BELL, a setting we thought most appropriate for this occasion. No sooner had the group gathered, than a nonCuban male who claimed he was from Miami, approached, complaining he just left the protest scene in Miami and made unkind statements to and about the Cuban Americans!!
Another man stopped to argue the issue of father's rights. We replied this was a FREEDOM issue and then discussed the deplorable economic and human rights conditions in Cuba!!!
We held our signs and chanted, "Free Elian Now!" Ed and his son had posters including the pictures of the American gestapo snatching Elian with American flags attached. I had a sign that read ELIAN, CLINTON'S EASTER SACRIFICE. Don's sign read, LIBERTY FOR ELIAN, JUSTICE FOR CASTRO, CLINTON AND RENO, another of my signs stated, CLINTON SNATCHED GOD'S MIRACLE, another said, JANET RENO GUILTY OF CHILD ABUSE and the last -- LIBERTY FOR ELIAN!!! We did much talking among ourselves. The local news media from all three stations covered the protest as well as the Philadelphia Inquirer who took a picture of Ed and his son which will probably in the paper tomorrow!!!
Mr. Cosme Rodriguez president of the Cuban Community Center, helped to organize the protest!! As a result of our efforts, he recommended me for a panel tomorrow about the Elian matter to be aired locally on a program called Sunday Live on Channel 6 abc affiliate in Philadelphia from 8 to 9 O' clock tomorrow morning and arrangemnts were made!!! I am to be a guest on the program!!!
The protest lasted for two hours though Ed from NJ and his son were there two hours early and protested for four hours. It was for an impromtu protest, pretty successful!!!
Impeach Clinton again!
Great job today gang! This day isn't over by a long shot.

Just saw FR's own Doctor Raoul in his devil costume protesting at the gate to Andrews on Castro News Network. He was waving his sign with great vigor! Freepers are EVERYWHERE! Great job, all!

Glad you were able to Freep in Philly today! About 8 or so intrepid patriots including at least 3 Freepers, a couple of lurkers and some soon to be Freepers did the same at the federal building in Pittsburgh. Things started at noon, two of us stayed til 3.
witchypooy was acosted on the way to the Freep by a senior couple and a couple of others on the trolley. Other than that things went pretty well. LOTS of people including a motorcycle cop honked, waved and gave us the thumbs up!
Only one group of young kids in a car stopped, shouted something that we couldn't understand, and then drove away like the cowards they are.
Fox 53 sent a cameraman and we will be on the ten o'clock news. I had my digital camera and will be posting the pix and a full report later tonight.
I guess I should have sent this Freep mail but I thought someone else might be interested.

My wife was as startled as I've ever seen her when I said "That's Dr. Raoul" as the local TV news showed devil-costumed figure at Andrews AFB protest holding sign saying "I sold my soul to Bill Clinton". She did a doubletake and said "What?". I'm afraid she wasn't reassured when I said "I know that guy."
Glad to see your report of the 'burgh protest. Wish I could have left Wheeling to join you. (that Fox 53 videographer may have been my brother - I'll have to find out). Good work.

Considering that I first found out about the grab at about 7:15, was at the Liberty Bell (with two pretty-nifty-if-I-do-say-so-myself posters) with mmmike at 11:45, walked the line until 3:15 and brought home the hamburger and buns at 6:15, I'd say I had a productive eleven hours (have been goofing off for the last hour!).
Mmmike and I arrived and started walking right where most of the visitors were in line -- in about 15 minutes the Park guys spotted us and (very nicely) moved us to the "Free Speech" area - still lots of traffic there, so no big deal. We did a twosome for about two hours, with posters that read "Happy Easter in America, Elian!!" with the gun-in-the-face photo under it on one side, and "Klintons Evil Nazis - Criminals, Cowards" and another grab photo on the other side.
Lots of agreers and just one turkey (the same group that Teri mentions above, who came back three times -- the guy must have thought he was "Father of the Year" for insisting the fathers claim took precedence over everything else).
I had not gotten Teri's messages about the other group arriving at 2, so we were most pleasantly surprised when they showed up, with media!! Since there were so many other larger protests around the country we probably won't get any but local notice, but rest assured that patriotism, respect for the law and love of truth and our Constitution were well represented today at the Liberty Bell!

Thanks for the support! Although it was cold and misirable, I think we all felt like we had done something for the country and for freedom. One of the things that made it worthwhile for me was the comment from a man passing by. He was obviously an immigrant and didn't speak English very well, but he looked at our signs and said "Good words man, good words."
I can't remember exactly what witchypooy's sign said but mine read "Freedom 1776-2000: do NOT RIP!" on one side above a 8x10 picture of Elian and the marshall with the gun. On the other side was "Truth and Freedom at www.freerepublic.com"
People in cars and buses definately could read the signs because many waved.
I think we'll be having more protests at the federal building, not just over the Elian issue, but the criminal Clinton administration as well, so I'll keep you posted.
If you have'nt already you might want to check out the chatroom at www.warroom.com. It's Jim Quinn's site and the chat runs 24/7. It's where I met witchypooy and was a factor in getting at least a couple of people to the rally.

This is exactly how I feel - like I've been gut-punched and am doubled over. There are no words, but what I can cry out from a place where only groans can arise, unto God.
I spent some time with a reporter from the Phila. Inquirer explaining what FR is all about -- hopefully this will make print tomorrow. Also mentioned it to anyone who was rational/interested -- some asked where I had gotten the photos, and of course they were the ones I had printed out from this mornings threads!

I just hope our congress don't just jabber and how awful this and how awful that is, I just want them to do SOMETHING.

The federal building in Westwood(LA,CA--OJ old home) has about 200-300 protesters also objecting to Klinton/Gore/Reno.

It was traumatic for me as well. I can't even imagine what this would do to a little boy or what it did to that loving family that cared and loved him so.

Please do not mistake the INS agents for the military. This raid was conducted by INS agents using military tactics, but NOT by the military. Maybe there isn't much difference today, but still there is some difference. I believe that the ATF, INS, all the other federal armed agencies is the "standing army" that the founding fathers were so concerned about. These agencies should have never been given law enforcement authority.

Oh, how awesome for you! I, too, participated in a peaceful protest in Westwood, Los Angeles. There were several hundred people there--all nicely dressed and polite. The police gave us thumbs up. I help up a poster-sized photograph of Elian with gun pointed at him (a la "Norma Rae") with the caption, HELP!! Many drivers-by honked in support. We were interviewed by the media. Tomorrow we protest again at 1:00 P.M.

An excellent point and thank you. I don't have the TV out any more, and my information on this has been gleaned (stress: gleaned) on the Internet, so this fact escaped me. I was thinking, however, of Ruby Ridge and Waco and not seeing ANY difference in the use of government agents' force.
You are exactly right, these agencies should NEVER have been given law enforcement authority. So, it looks like the next step for me is to find out which committees in Congress oversee the out of control INS and start writing letters. As if anyone there will listen.

if it were legal, somebody should have long ago hacked the websites of CNN, ABC, CBS, ABC and replaced the Govt. Approved doctored (or shot in Cuba) "Happy Elian" photo, with the "Courageous Fisherman Protects the Terrorized Boy from Jackboots Swearing the "F" Word" Photo. If it were legal, of course.

You are correct. We have to start by calling, e-mailing and faxing all our reps and telling them IMPEACH CLINTON - NOW! and making it clear to them that if they fail to do so they will not have our vote.
When the goverment breaks the law with impunity, there is no rule of law and there are no longer any laws to break.
Between INS, BATF, FBI, Secret Service, US Marshalls and others there are over 100,000 armed agents of the federal government - in addition to the armed forces. Whatever uniform those people wore they were thugs and you can see it in their faces.
WHERE'S ELIAN? WHY CAN NO ONE SEE HIM?
BTW, here is a good protest poster slogan and chant theme for Freepping Clinton, Gore, Reno, etc.:
