After the debate ended Judy Woodruff was interviewing Alan Simpson. Simpson agreed that Joe Lieberman worked in a bipartisan way in the Senate, but stated that Al Gore did not work in that way. Ms. Woodruff asked, what about his Desert Storm vote? After a few minutes of distraction by the other Democratic Senator from Connecticut, Alan Simpson laid the story out. Al Gore went back and forth between the folks voting for Desert Storm and against it --- bargaining for the most amount of time he could get on the floor of the senate. Only because Gore was offered more minutes by the pro-Desert Storm group did he vote in support. Judy Woodruff and the rest of CNN's panel dropped the issue.
I was floored and DELIGHTED that Simpson doggedly continued and got this in. They would have LOVED to shut him up!
Chris Dodd babbled on, trying to downplay it, "The important thing was he voted for it and they ALL supported the troops, blah, blah."

Correct. This is a sleeping story that Alan Simpson recently revealed, because Algore is a LIAR.
I'll vouch for that (Simpson's remarks).
They let Dodd rebut, but he couldn't say much except the "old news, move on, partisan attack, etc." dodge.
CNN then immediately terminated the remote--I think they were taken by surprise just like Dodd was.
Hope this exchange gets a lot more airplay. I knew of it but I bet 95% of the Sheeple don't.

This is my first "post" I came out of lurking because this is a big, big, big, issue if it gets coverage. That Gore is a liar is fine for many americans . . . this is far worse for the Dems. It needs to see daylight.

I hope that this issue gets out. I'm going to spend some time asking the question on newspaper and radio web site "news tip", "comment", and "question" areas. My e-mail address gives away my location, so I can't do the battleground states. If you can, take a few minutes and spread the "question": "What was Simpson talking about."
I admit that I am willing to sell my vote to Bush so that there will be less speaking time for Algore.

Yes, let's make this story move. I am convinced that the Free Republic commentary gave the "Al Gore--- Liar" and "Al Gore---Big Sigher" Stories a big push into the main stream media. The conservative media types lurk here, and get their material and sense of what resonates. Let's build this story big. I emailed this thread to Rush.

The really funny if not ironic thing there was that Judy proved that she herself is a victim of the liberal press!
Present this as another Gore--Lieberman untruth----------- "No, Gore was not being bi-partisan in voting for the Gulf War as Lieberman claimed in the debate----instead Gore was merely selling his vote for the highest amount of TV time according to Senator Alan Simpson"

as i recall the story at the time al gore wanted PRIMETIME face time in the gulf war debate. self serving SOB.

Yeah and there was an incident when he was debating Nina Totenberg from NPR at the Nightline Studios about Anita Hill's charges against Thomas. After the show was over, Totenberg followed Simpson into the street still screaming in outrage at him. And what were Hill's charges? Oh yeah, at some time in the past she thought Thomas mentioned something to her about a pubic hair on her soda can. This was the cause of Totenberg's OUTRAGE at Simpson. This was the same Nina Totenberg who was strangely silent about Juanita Broaddrick's (much more credible) rape charges against Clinton.
I remember that WELL!! Simpson handled her magnanimously also! You are right! Where was Nina (I can't stand her) and her outrage when the Broaderick story broke??? NOT a PEEP out of her!!!! Such is the HYPOCRISY of the Feminists!!!

She was outraged beyond belief when Anita Hill alleged that Thomas once mentioned something about a (GASP!) pubic hair on a soda can. Later there was nary a peep out of her over the (much more verifiable) Clinton rape allegations.
