Teamsters Sentenced to Probation in Adams Beating Case

Crime/Corruption Front Page News Keywords: DON ADAMS, TERI ADAMS, JOHNNY MORRIS, PHILADELPHIA, TEAMSTERS
Source: Teri Adams (TAdams8591)
Published: 11/3/2000 Author: self
Posted on 11/03/2000 14:24:58 PST by Physicist

I just got off the phone with Teri Adams. The three teamsters who pled guilty last month for beating Don and Teri Adams were sentenced last week (10/25). Judge Sheldon Jelin sentenced Norma Bottomer to one year of probation, while Mark Hopkins and Charlie Davis were each sentenced to two years of probation.

They are the third, fourth and fifth Teamsters to be sentenced to probation as a result of the Adams beatings. Kevin McNulty and Marc Nardone pled guilty and received probation in summer, 1999.

The charges stemmed from an incident on October 2, 1998 where members of Teamsters Union Local 115 beat Don and Teri Adams before TV cameras, at the instigation of Teamster Vice President Johnny Morris. An effort to bring criminal charges against Mr. Morris is ongoing. Partially as a result of this incident, Mr. Morris was removed from his position of power in late 1999, and Teamster Local 115 was placed into trusteeship by the Union.

Here is a thread by Mare from the day of the sentencing, which was posted before results were available. I recommend that everyone read it for more background on the case.

Here is a thread from last month with some more background.

Full Disclosure: I am not an impartial party in this matter. More than two hours before the attack on the Adamses, which I witnessed, I was attacked while protesting and slightly injured by members of this same mob, which comprised about 500 members of the Teamsters and Carpenters Unions. I did not press charges and am not a party to any lawsuit being pressed by the Adamses.

With the Clintonistas getting more violent every day, I hope and pray that I remain the only Freeper who, while protesting for FreeRepublic, ever had his blood shed by the enemy.

Democrat Philadelphia justice. As long as you're doing Clinton's work, you can beat someone and all you'll get as punishment is milk and cookies with a probation officer.

What does it take for a Philly Teamster to get more than probation!?!

These dopes have done this before (I know that at least one of them has several priors) and still all they get is probation! Maybe a good thing for a Bush Justice Department to look into.

Forum guidelines prohibit me from saying what I fully think of you for that statement. You admit you don't know much about this case and make an asinine statement? LET ME TELL YOU, MAGGOT, WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE PEOPLE AND WHAT THEY ACCOMPLISHED IN RESPONSE.

They got assaulted for exercising their First Amendment Rights. Don was marked for beating by the powerful head of the Teamster's Union, John Morris. The beating was caught on videotape. Guess who risked her own safety to protect her brother? Terri Adams. Guess who initially faced a malicious, politically-motivated prosecution? Don Adams. Guess who didn't back down, and was acquitted? Don Adams. Guess who is out of a job? John Morris, and one of the reasons cited by the National Union was the Don Adams incident. Guess who provided needed support to Don and Terri? Physicist. Guess what incident motivated JimRob to call for the March for Justice? You got it, bozo. So take your flippant attitude and stick it.

Well, theres three trouble makers that have to be careful for a while, unfortunately there are thousands of them to take their place.

Glad 'some' justice was applied but I don't think the signal was sent strong enough that interfering with freedom of speech rights is a serious offense.

The Judge sent an intimidating message, all right. To any one who might disagree with the Temasters. "Don't". The Judge gave license in this verdict and the prior ones that thuggery in pursuit of shutting your opponent down is frowned upon superficially, but condoned in every other regard.

In Philadelphia the unions own most Judges. Judges are elected and the Unions pay to elect them.

I'm trying to ignore the polls, since I can't control them and they just make me nuts. All I can do is vote, which I will do, and exhort others to vote, which I will also do.

Five points in POA, which is probably the best poll, makes me comfy instead of nuts. If Bush wins PA, it's all but over. Now, out here in Colorado, Gore is roadkill, so it hasn't been that suspenseful on how this state is gonna go.

Two questions:

1. Did the Union Thugs plead guilty to felonies? Or misdemeanors?

2. Are convicted felons allowed to vote in PA?

Wouldn't it be just sweet poetic justice if these Scumbags couldn't vote for their boy Algore?

Do you ever equate all this polling and incessant interest in the polling results to children shaking their Christmas packages? They shake and shake and shake and shake......Yet nobody is going to know for sure until the package is opened (Nov. 7th). While I really want to know who wins, all this 'shaking' and guessing isn't helping. LOL!

Thanks for the information about Teri's and Don's case. I hope that Teri returns to us soon, this place isn't the same without her!

Too bad that the Teamsters didn't get real jail time. Let's hope that they get hit financially at least in the civil suit.

Thanks for all your efforts and for standing alongside Teri and Don.

1. Did the Union Thugs plead guilty to felonies? Or misdemeanors?

Charlie Davis and Mark Hopkins pled guilty to felonies. Norma Bottomer pled guilty to misdemeanors; the felony charges against her were dropped as part of the plea bargain agreement. All felony charges were dropped against the worst offenders, Kevin McNulty and Marc Nardone, for no reason at all. They pled guilty to misdemeanors.

I don't know whether any or all of them are eligible to vote. I can't imagine any of them summoning up enough citizenship even to register in the first place, however.

Thanks for the update.

For people not familiar with Philadelphia, probation for these thugs may look like a terrible loss for Don and Teri, but as John Fund pointed out in one of his WSJ editorials, it is, in fact, a stunning setback for the DNC mafia. Ed Rendell admitted openly that he was amazed that there were any indictments, let alone trials or convictions for these criminals.

Don and Teri have been through an incredible ordeal, but their deep conviction of their rights as American citizens and their commitment to fight for justice has breached what the Machine thought was an impregnable fortress of power. History will someday record that it was these present-day Adamses who set in motion the revolution for freedom in the City of Brotherly Love and the birthplace of the Constitution.
