The rally at the State Capitol in St. Paul was a smashing success.
I would say there were between 3,500 and 5,000 people there today. It was UNREAL!!!!! Outgoing Senator Rod Grams spoke as well as new US Rep Mark Kennedy and radio host Jason Lewis.
My wife had the Sore Loserman poster and also a poster that said "Gore is a Chad Hole". I had the gore in the straightjacket. People were going nuts!!!
Awesome. Bump.
personal bump
Courtesy of "Scott", below is a URL to a panoramic picture from the St. Paul rally. If anyone knows how to actually post the picture on this thread, please do so. http://homestead.deja.com/user.melbert/HomePage.html
Incredible! What was your weather like? Did any of the opposition appear?
Great job freepers. Can't wait to see the pics!!!!!
Pardon me...what does BUMP mean? Everyone one here says it, and I have no idea what it means! Also, what does "btt" mean? Thanks! A new FReeper
Good photo. Do you have one from the front?
The weather was sunny and about 25 degrees. One of the speakers said there were 7 Gorp supporters there, but that we should have a recount!!
No, that's not my picture. I found it on the "GWB - Minnesota" E-Groups website, nad that was the only picture. If I find any more, I'll be sure to post them.
BUMP is short for "Bump to the top", also written as BTTT. It indicates a good article which readers want to remain on the first page of the screen a little longer when the default response is to push it to the bottom as new posts come in.
Bump is used to push a post up on the forum. BTTT means "bump to the top".
http://homestead.deja.com/user.melbert/HomePage.html
Thanks...it was driving me crazy!
Good job y'all! BUMP!
Whoa! That rocks! Great trunout!!!
Did you see the report on KARE-11 TV? They did quick comparison shots between the (7) Gore supporters vs. the (5000!!!!) Bush supporters. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Unfortunately, they provided an equal forum for both sides to state their positions once again.
I'll post the article from the (Red) Star Tribune as soon (and if) they actually they report on it.
Great Job MN Freepers! Good to meet you today Abigail(sic?)
Bump means that the thread pushes back to the top so more people see it. Btt just means bump to top.
Great picture. Looks like a very good turnout.
BUMP
Hey, that's me with the US flag in the lower right below the statue!
I checked the Red Star website and nothing was there yet. I was at a "Give us our Taxes Back" rally a couple of years ago where 5,000 showed up. This crowd was louder!!

Oh, please...he Red Star Tribune? They'll just put a photo of the Gore supporters in the paper and ignore the Bush supporters. We are talking about the same newspaper whose commie Editorial Board suggested that there should be a WPB re-vote, and that the voters would sign a "promise" that they would vote for the candidate that they intended to vote for on Nov. 7th. Thank God for Free Republic!
I would say there were between 3,500 and 5,000 people there today. It was UNREAL!!!!!
Whoa! Am I having a stroke?
(Lloyd Bentsen voice):
I've been to St. Paul.
I know St. Paul.
And St. Paul is no hotbed of conservative Republican Politics...until now!
Although I see the huge crowd in the photo...my stunned brain still has me saying "surely
they must have misplaced the decimal point on that attendance figure!".
OK, I'm wrong and will admit it. AWESOME JOB!
Bump bump da bump!
Well, here ya go, from the Red Star: State Republican leaders blast Gore at rally in St. Paul
by Randy Furst
Chanting "No more Gore," a large, boisterous crowd rallied on the steps of the State Capitol in St. Paul Saturday to voice support for GOP presidential candidate George W. Bush.
Tony Sutton, executive director of the state Republican Party, estimated the crowd at 5,000. State Patrol Capt. Tom Fraser, director of Capitol security and executive protection, estimated there were 2,500 to 3,000.
The rally drew some of the prominent figures in the state GOP, among them, U.S. Sen. Rod Grams, who was defeated for reelection by DFLer Mark Dayton; U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad; Hennepin County Commissioner Penny Steele; state Senate Minority Leader Dick Day of Owatonna, and Mark Kennedy, who faces a recount after outpolling Democratic U.S. Rep. David Minge by 155 votes in the Second Congressional District. "You know what it's all about -- it's fighting for democracy," said state Republican Party Chairman Ron Eibensteiner.
Protest signs were plentiful and harsh in their description of Vice President Al Gore, who is seeking a recount of ballots in several counties in Florida in hopes of winning that state's 25 electoral votes. "Don't Gore Me," said one sign. "Bush won in spite of the fix by the Media Gore-Daley," read another. "Rotten to the Gore," a third sign said. "Gore is stealing the election," said a fourth. The loudest cheers appeared to come when conservative radio personality Jason Lewis was introduced. "Jason, Jason, Jason," the crowd chanted. "In Florida, what do you call a lawyer gone bad?" Lewis asked the crowd. "Your honor," he answered to general laughter, a criticism of Florida judges who have issued rulings unfavorable to Bush.
Grams echoed the sentiments of the crowd when he referred to the Texas governor as "President-elect George Bush" and told them to "enjoy this victory." Ramstad was loudly applauded for declaring, "It's time for you to concede, Mr. Gore ... Mr. Gore, it's time for you to go."
Among those in the crowd was John Yarian, 34, of Burnsville, who said he was a state employee. Yarian's head protruded from a cardboard box he wore. On the box was printed, "Pack it up Al Gore, Go back to Tn [Tennessee]".
Said Yarian: "Al Gore is trying to destroy the economy and handicap George Bush's presidency." Holding an American flag was Brandee Voneschen, 24, of St. Louis Park, who is a nursing assistant. She was standing with her husband, Timothy, 26, a machinist. Voneschen was pleased with the rally. "It's fabulous," she said. "It's nice to see a good turnout. We need to do this because the media is not covering us."
Randy Furst can be contacted at rfurst@startribune.com
The rally was great! KARE-11 news said there were 5000. (They forgot to mention only 6 Gorons.) People had some great signs. It was a beautiful sight!
Great to meet you gore_sux and SuperGal! You guys are the first Freepers I've met in person. Let's keep Freepin'!
Yep, you heard it here. MN was expected to go Gorp by 10%!! Then you saw Prince Albert in a Can and Loserman and the rest of the National Socialists show up. The more people saw, the less inclined they were to vote for them.
Gorp won by 2% in MN. Things are-a-changin'...
A larger turn out than we had last weekend at Ground Zero in West Palm beach (2,500 tops). Whatever you did, we need to find out and copy it across the nation. Any ideas why you had such a crowd? You're in the Sacramento class of rallies now and it does seem other cities have better demographics for a Bush rally than either one of you.
This is great freepers, keep the pressure on.
Hey Goresux, I stand corrected! The Red Star Tribune is even turning on Gore (somewhat). I'm actually kind of shocked that they printed the contents of those signs. Way to go Red Strib!!
Larry, a very popular conservative talk show host (Jason Lewis) has been promoting this rally all week on his radio show. Not to mention the fact that Senator Rod Grams and Rep. Jim Ramstad. It's hard to believe that the Twin Cities, a DFL hotbed, had 5,000 and Houston had only 40. You guys need to call your local conservative talk show hosts and get them to promote the rallies.
I think we have huge turnouts here because:
1. Talk show host Jason Lewis was heavily involved, pumping the rally all week.
2. The Republican party got involved
3. Conservatives Minnesotans are constantly under assault by their Mega-taxing government(another $3 billion surplus), and gosh darn it, we're not going to take it anymore!
4. Minnesotans love to get outside and do things on beautiful days like today (30 degrees and sunny.)
I suggest in these other cities to get your local conservative radio host involved and the Republican (and Libertarian) parties involved and get the word out as much as possible. Not everybody knows about FreeRepublic (yet.)
What a smash hit for you up there. Congratulations on a SUPER turnout! You are truly Patriots of the nth degree!
3,500 to 5,000?
W-O-W!
Looks like talk radio is one of, if not the most, deciding factor. Sacramento freepers credited two talk radio stations, in part, for their turn out too.
My sign said: "1st count-Bush, 2nd count-Bush, 3rd count-Bush, 4th count-Bush, Certified-Bush." On the other side it said, "Hey Al, kiss my dimpled chads!" One lady asked me if they really are dimpled. (red face)
Holy Frijole!!!
3000 people at your rally!? In Minnesota?
WAY TO GO!
I lived up in the Twin Cities for 4 years while getting my grad degree- never woulda thought there was more than 100 Republicans in the metro area from the people I met while I was there.
If Republicans can bring out this many people in the People's Republic, maybe we really can crush liberalism!
Wow! How did you get so many people? I was somewhat disappointed in reading about the Houston Freep that there were only about 40 there (no reflection on Texas Freepers!)It would be nice to know how the organizers of these huge rallies get the word out. One idea I've heard is to contact the local veterans groups. What other things work?
Check here for some help with the lexicon and HTML.....
Yes, my comment about the Houston rally is NOTHING against Texas FReepers either!! :0)
LOL....I hope the cameras picked up your sign!
Thanks deport....I'll check it out!
I am so glad. This is wonderful news .
I think I was standing near Captain Fraser when Mr. Furst asked the Captain for the estimate. The Capt. said about 2500 and they’re still coming. John Yarian who was noted in the article was standing at the top of the steps were the speakers where, so was Furst. I don't think Furst moved during the whole rally.
I think I got a picture of your Strightjacket sign.I'm a new freepeer,Been a lurker for several years.I've got about 5 meg of digital photos from the St.Paul rally.I just need to find a place to post them on the web. The rally was great.I didn't know there were that many Conservatives in the People's Republic of Minnesota. Keep up the faith
Great protest. Keep up the excellent work. Take a peek at the Cincinnati protest when you have time. We went to where the people are,the MALL. We had a steady stream of captive audience of X-mas shoppers. Most people gave us the thumbs up,and the HONK FOR BUSH. The Socialist Dems. just looked shocked and annoyed. a ha ha ha hah ha
Please post those photos - We'd love to see them!
I went to the rally. I had no idea how many would show but I think one factor of its success is conservative radio here in Minnesota. KSTP is pretty conservative and Jason Lewis is a local (Rush in on earlier in the day) who does a very good job of attacking the leftist ideas. He really keeps the heat on. One thing he has been doing for, I don't know, two or three years, is holding rallies to cut Minnesota taxes and the response has been growing each time. So I think part of the reason for our successful rally was the developed base of support for these things -- momentum! But I have to also believe that the Free Republic message played a part. I first heard about the rally here, then I heard Jason Lewis talk about it. We must keep it up and see if we can't get this liberal state into the conservative column. It was a fun hour. - discipler
Trying to see if I can setup a site on AOL.and at least post some of ,If not all of them.I got some great ones showing different signs and also lots of CROWD SHOTS. Were you wearing a green hat??
I checked out your photos in Cincinatti. That's SUPER!!
Yes, I have the green hat.
Our color printer was broken, so I had the Straitjacket poster in Black and white.
Lots of people were laughing at my wife's "Gore is a Chad Hole" poster!!
Wonderful! Great job! WE had 150 in freezing cold and rain - in Raleigh - but you inspire us to work harder!!!
My picture of the straight jacket sign, shows your sign, hat and eyes.If I can't get a site up with the pics,Send me an email and I'll ship ya the picture and a few more if you'd like them
5,000! That's the biggest rally of the day by far - (how did bush not cruise in Minn.?). You guys are awesome, great job. Pray for us tomorrow as we try to top that in NYC!!
Thanks!
Awesome pix! Thanks. 3,500 to 5,000! Man, am I ever envious! But please forgive me. That's just my leftover liberalism getting through.
You guys have to listen to Jason Lewis on the net you will love it AM1500.com between 5:00-8:00pm central time weekdays He is as good as RUSH believe you me.
I've uploaded some pictures.

I've got some posted on AOL.I don't know how to do a link,But here is the URL to some of the pictures I have http://hometown.aol.com/radar1550/HP8753A.html
Link to Photos St. Paul, MN Rally
"Just do it"!!!,,,,Great rally pictures.
Rallies need MORE American Flags. Don't let them 'ploy' them out of sight-site.
I've got a 2nd page of Photos up. Here are both URL's again. http://hometown.aol.com/radar1550/HP8753A.html http://hometown.aol.com/radar1550/HP8753B.html Can one of you great Freepers make the links on this thread and also get these links into the area where they are being archived.I see Rowdy made one already..Thanks. Was that a picture of you that I took ???
Bumpity bump bump!
The quality may be down slightly,But they still convey how many people showed up..Great work
Anybody get pictures of the clinton impersonator with the suitcase? Guy with a clinton mask, walking around? Funny as all get out.
And then another guy showed up later with a gore mask - also very funny. He and the clinton guy linked up - hilarious.

Any ideas why you had such a crowd?
Ditto to what goresux said. I would also add that "Democrat" has been the default, socially correct position in this state for years. There are plenty of Republicans here - they've just been too reticent to speak up. That is no longer is the case. We don't give a damn anymore - the Rats have so debased themselves, we have no cause to lay back. We are moving quickly and boldly to take the high ground they have forfeited.
The 3rd page is up and ready for Lookers.
Please add links and post where everyone can see.. Thanks

My work is done.
Thanks to all for your help and support at the Rally.
With Liberty and Justice for ALL !!
I hoped that was the case more than talk radio. Simply because there are not conservative stations in so many areas. Radio is apparently the spark which sets off the smoldering embers. Hopefully the net will augment the role of radio more and more.
Congratulations on a fantastic rally!! I am so proud of our FReepers.

Thanks for the links,I'm going to do a little reading up on HTML
not ,sure what happened with that last reply. The bottom part seemed to be missing.
Another thread with links to some of my photos: http://www.FreeRepublic.com/forum/a3a29d33f0dce.htm
Also wanted to check in and make sure my name was on the list of MN freepers. My real name, my real email.
Do we have an organized chapter 'round here?
Nice pics!
fantastic
My guess is this rally was as big as the last tax rally.
If we could all get just one more friend to join us for the next one .
Thanks for the pict's.
Was there with two of my kids. It was incredible. About 5000 people all REALLY motivated. All of us had signs, mine of Sore/Loserman-NaSDAQ version.
That photo was not me. I sent you a private FreepMail.
With another $3 Billion surplus in the state, I suspect there will be 7-10,000 people at the next tax rally.
They are usually in March. Listen to AM 1500 and keep checking FreeRepublic for updates.
Way to MN were all proud of you guys.
Way cool - your first page has my "Mind Readers for Al Gore" sign. I had my whole family there (wife, 3 kids, one more on the way) and friends familes - with many signs -
Every Vote Should Count - with the country graphic showing all the red counties voting for Bush
It's time to move on - it give Al the psychiatric help he needs
The stupidest 1% should select the president
Demb and Dember
A sign about abortion with dead babies
Gore Communist poster
Elian Raid poster
Ac couple others too
My little daughter (8) had a hand made sign "Bush Wins" and "No Recounts" with a big heart
This was my poster: (and hand...)http://members.aol.com/radar1550/images/mindre~1.jpg
Try again - here's my poster: the link
I Saw YOU there!!! That is a great sign.
You are not alone! Thousands have taken to the streets in support of President-Elect George W. Bush. Your FReport has been added to a list with hundreds of others on the...
Read some of these FReports for inspiration, tips, slogans, signs, etc. and then get out there and make your voices heard!
Now is not the time to celebrate in our success. There is still much to do and we must be organized and steadfast in our efforts. If anything, we need to redouble our efforts. The chief thief must be stopped. He must be soundly abraded and told, in no uncertain terms, that it is time for them to go!
At the same time, there is no reason we shouldn't celebrate the election of George W. Bush as our next President. Celebrate it in the streets! Be loud, unbowed, and stand proud!
Eagles up, FReepers! We are making, and we will make a difference!
For information on rallies that you can attend, please visit cyn & LarryLied's thread below - literally hundreds of rallies are planned over the next few days - pick one and be there!
Most of these were Sat/Sun rallies that have probably already happened, but you'll be able to find the updated threads once cyn and LarryLied recover from the weekend! ;-)
