Despite near freezing temperatures, the defenders of liberty were out in force once again today in Boston, MA.
We didn't get the 300 person turnout from last week -- mostly because the court rulings are going against Gore, in addition to the cold.
We still had approximately 100 people at peak and over 50 who stayed for a full two and a half hours. The Dems packed it in after about 30 minutes and never had much more than 50 people at any point.
The Democrats had giant prepaid signs and expensive rented equipment. We had markers, posterboard, and two rented megaphones -- who was it that's receiving corporate welfare again??
The media was EXTREMELY biased as always. Only NECN and a reporter for AP showed up. While we outnumbered the other guys 2-1, they showed virtually nothing but shots of the Gore people -- filmed to make them look numerous.
Meanwhile, NECN cut out half the people we had there. I was front and center the *entire* time and I couldn't find myself in the token shot of the Bush supporters (it was 6 clips for Gore, 2 for Bush). They didn't want to show our signs -- most of which were quite pernicious, such as the Communist Gore-Lieberman sign; "SLOBODAN GOROVICH"; and my personal favorite:
"AL-GORE-ITHM, n: Manipulation of data to produce a selective outcome." (I may have the wording wrong)
After an hour we marched down to Fanueil Hall. I wish the media got a shot of us descending the stairs -- 100 people going down to the monument in front of Quincy market. I have no other word to describe it -- it felt awesome.
Republicans. Libertarians. Independents. Hundreds more saw us rally in the market -- and we got as many thumbs up as thumbs down.
Some of the best credit goes to John S. and Shawn (I didn't catch his last name) who were our megaphone guys today. The best speech was "IT'S TIME TO FACE THE FACTS" -- which reached all but the most diehard liberals:
"Doesn't it bother you that Al Gore has susggested that minorites and elderly citizens are too stupid to vote?"
"A signed affadavit on an absentee ballot indicates clear intent. A dimple does not."
"Over 40% of military overseas ballots were thrown out, blocked by Al Gore. If every vote counts, why didn't theirs count?"
====================================
Most obtuse chant of the day goes to... me! "No more treason, no more fraud, one Republic, ruled by law." -- a variation of No-More-Clinton-No-More-Gore.
All in all, it was a great effort. Most of us think that the house is going to come down on Al Gore any day now -- so let's keep it up, patriots! Just think -- in less than 50 (?) days, this will all be over.
The DC Chapter salutes your efforts!
As a former resident of MA I've got to commend you for your courage for protesting "in the belly of the beast".
Actually jackbill, it's a moderate state (see one of my posts about our ballot referendums -- they all went "right wing" by narrow or moderate margins!!) but the liberals are so notorious it's hard to mount an opposition. A lot of us suspect Democrat fraud here (Kennedy vs. Romney, within a hair; yet Kennedy vs. Howell + Robinson, 73% to 12% to 12%? No way!!)
The other problem is Weld, Celucci, and Swift have crushed any respectability for MA Democrats. Since the GOP can't ever win here anyway and I'm a Libertarian, that's one opening I *don't* mind at all.
BTW -- as a footnote -- I vote GOP whenever I think there's even a snowball's chance in heck they can win, to stop the Dems, so don't yell at me for stealing votes... I'm a Libertarian to try to get the GOP to stop debating the Dems on their terms -- they won't win in the long run and neither will any of us.
Passed you guys about 2:15...right in front of Fanueil Hall. Didnt hear any Libs at that point...they mustve given up...dont blame them. If I wasnt on my way to meet friends I wouldve stuck around. I made sure to clap for you all as I passed by...i was pretty damn proud of you guys. Even though I hadnt seen anything on here about the rally...I had a feeling it was Freepers leading the way!!!
Bump! Thank you :)
Good show Steve. We'll never be media sweethearts, but we know what our calling is. Keep Freeping and everything will be fine. It will eventually sink in.
WhoooooooooHoooooooooooo Boston Freepers!!!!!!!!!
You are not alone! Thousands have taken to the streets in support of President-Elect George W. Bush. Your FReport has been added to a list with hundreds of others on the...
Read some of these FReports for inspiration, tips, slogans, signs, etc. and then get out there and make your voices heard!
Now is not the time to celebrate in our success. There is still much to do and we must be organized and steadfast in our efforts. If anything, we need to redouble our efforts. The chief thief must be stopped. He must be soundly abraded and told, in no uncertain terms, that it is time for them to go!
At the same time, there is no reason we shouldn't celebrate the election of George W. Bush as our next President. Celebrate it in the streets! Be loud, unbowed, and stand proud!
Eagles up, FReepers! We are making, and we will make a difference!
For information on rallies that you can attend, please visit cyn & LarryLied's thread below - literally hundreds of rallies are planned over the next few days - pick one and be there!
Most of these were Sat/Sun rallies that have probably already happened, but you'll be able to find the updated threads once cyn and LarryLied recover from the weekend! ;-)
