If you're a tea drinker, you might want to stock up. If a grassroots effort started in Washington State takes hold, tea bags may be in short supply, except at Vice President Al Gore's house.
The group, named "The Patriot Newsmen", is calling for an American Tea Party of revolutionary proportions. The idea is based on the historical uprising that took place more than 200 years ago in Boston's Harbor, when colonial revolutionaries dumped tea shipments into the seas, sending a message to the British Crown. Today's revolutionaries have begun buying up tea bags and are marking the little tags with the words "Concede."
They'll all be sent to the Vice President's residence in Washington DC.
As more communities and people get involved, they hope to bury the Vice President in a protest of tea bags.
"Al Gore seems unable to read the court decisions, the polls, the numbers," said one of the protest organizers. "Maybe he can read tea leaves and tell he's lost the backing of the American people and the American system."
"It's about time he recognized the unhappiness and outright distress brewing in America," said another Newsman member. "And frankly, we're sick of talking. This gives all Americans a nice, innocent way to take action and send a message to Mr. Gore. Give it up. Have a cup of tea and see us again in four years."
Some people want to send Egbert tea bags and that's breaking news?
I don't know about all thisa tea drinking. Didn't all say that's what messed him up about the Buddist temple fund raiser - he had drunk too much ice tea and was in the bathroom?
Too funny! My boss, who is ***gasp*** a Dem, just told me that he thinks Gore should concede...probably because it is hitting him in his wallet, LOL! He even told me a joke..."if the Democrats wanted Al Gore to be President, then they should have impeached Clinton!" However, he is NOT joking about his 401K! He even offered to come protest if this thing is not ended by Saturday...I was shocked!
Now that's progress....
Give me the address. I love those kind of tea parties.
Someone else proposed sending him bananas in honor of his attempt to establish a banana republic. I like that idea better.
Make 'em USED tea bags...
no need to give him anything with value.
Just send him a banana NUT case...oops...I mean cake! Darn those Freudian slips!
Here it is:
Send your tea bags to:
Vice President of the United States
Albert Gore, Jr.
Admiral House
34th & Massachusetts
Washington, D.C. 20005
Anybody remember when the Democrats in Congress shoved that tax increase down Bush Sr.'s throat and broke the "Read My Lips" pledge?
I remember sending a couple of 100ct boxes of Lipton to a group in DC who dumped them into the reflecting pool in protest (I was living in Texas at the time).
..."if the Democrats wanted Al Gore to be President, then they should have impeached Clinton!"
Jim Rogan said something similar several months ago on one of the Fox shows (can't remember which one). He said, what's the Democrat's problem - he tried to make Gore President twice.
