Appologies for this semi-vanity post, but it really is a freeper public service post.
I had a hairbrained idea of setting up an invite only forum for single freepers to mingle on-line. I thought of this when I noticed that at the FR ball there were a lot of single freepers out there that might appreciate a respectful way to meet, freep and party with other single freepers.
I've called it the "No Longer Freeping Alone" club. What do you think about the idea? I've make it an invitation only forum, that won't tolerate abusive behavior.
Any interested single freepers should freepmail me with their e-mail address, so I can send them an invitation to the forum.
I'm also looking for responsible single freepers willing to co-moderate the forum, as I don't want to be the only one running this forum.
Please pass this thread on to any single freepers that you know, as the forum like FR gets better with more members participating.
I'm not single any more (married a Lib), but a Bump for your troubles!

I agree, reasonable precautions will be enforced, but there is always a risk of some undesireables infiltrating the forum, so play it smart folks. If something sounds fishy, then tell someone else (especially me, so I can kick the offender off the forum) about it.

I am single, not neccessarily looking, but am interested in your forum. What type of forum is it? Is it just a place for singles to meet and interact or will real discussion of issues take place?

Awhile back, someone else wanted to start a single Freeper thread, and some folks posted the information that Jim Rob has always killed the threads. I don't know if that is true; don't want to be a party-pooper, but that thread disappeard also! Hmmmm. Seems to me that there is some truth to the talk about it not being quite OK to have a singles-only thread.
However, if JimRob approves this time, put me on it.
As a very happily married FReeper, I support your idea. I mean, after all.......if I was single, and having seen the beautiful, intelligent, conservative FReeper women at the Ball..............whooboy.............
There have been many "singles" threads on FR. A Plea to Single Women and Thread II each had over 200 responses, I believe.
They "lady" in this picture would have a hard time connecting in a all male military unit on a beer chute run after 40 days in the field. But...hope springs eternal.
Well we're trying to keep this high class and not just a thread on FR. I hope that freepers will keep things honorable in this thread and on the forum. If not they will be escorted to the door by our burley bouncer, Max. Max doesn't have a sense of humor and really hates jerks that pick on freeperettes.
If JimRob or JohnRob (or anyone else for that matter) has a problem with this, please let me know.
A couple of people have started Single Freeper threads only to have Jim Rob delete them. I know that Starfan tried to get me a date for the Black Tie and Boots ball only to have it deleted. Hopefully he will let this one stay. Thank you for the heads up.

You haven't mentioned it, yet, but I presume you mean something like a Yahoo Club (home of the FR contingency pages), which can be moderated as desired by the creator.
I don't guess that Jim will mind this thread, since you're A) attempting to fill a need for FR members, and B) attempting to provide for that need off-site, thus eliminating some of the chit-chat that has apparently gotten past threads removed.
You are correct sir. It is a private Yahoo club (forum) that I set up for the purposes of letting single freepers meet each other without having to post their situation for all freeperdom to see.
Whether you are actively looking for a mate or just looking for other single freeper "friends" to co-misserate with (but please minimize this and focus on the possibilities) this forum is for you.
What it is not is a typical Internet pickup chatroom. If two freepers hit it off, the rest of us would appreciate it if they take their e-wooing (or worse) off-line in direct e-mails. Just remember to send us wedding invitations. ;)
Hi there anymouse, this sounds like a great idea. It will give folks a chance to become acquainted online *without* giving their email addy to strangers up front (of course, freepers aren't really strangers :-)

Seriously fellow freepers, this is an abuse-free zone forum, and it already has 10 members within 6 hours of getting started. Some of them are lady freepers too. :)
For anyone concerned about having to give an e-mail address to gain access, don't worry, send me a temporary web addy, so I can send you an invitation. You can ditch the temp addy after that, thus assuring that you won't get rude spam or cyber stalkers. I have been deleting the freepmails that I get after I send the invite, so I won't even have your e-mail address unless you want me to have it.
Other than that, you'll just have to trust me that this is on the up and up. But again, that is your choice.

The story of my wife and I meeting is a good one. Here is the short version.
I was in the Navy in San Diego and my buddy was deploying for four months. He wanted to go out and I wanted to go dancing. Being cheap we decided to go to a bar with no cover charge and a dance floor. Being guys, we didn't want to dress up.
This created a short list, one bar in fact was the list's length.
The Mexican Village was it. We went there and did some drinking and dancing. I had already met an attractive woman and arranged to meet her again another day, when I spotted a beautifull woman across the bar.
She had blonde hair and a beautiful figure (large cans for you thickeaded perverts).
I decided to go ask her to dance and started the long scary walk only a man knows. The walk of a man going to talk to a beautiful woman he doesn't know.
I got about five feet away and realized the look on her face betrayed an attitude that I didn't want to have anything to do with.
As her and her two friends had seen me approaching I couldn't just turn around without looking really stupid.
So I turned to the woman on her right and said, "would you like to dance?"
We were married on June 28th 1992. Best life partner I could have asked for, as we both make eachother better persons.

Your story reminds me of the one about US Senator Strom Thurmond - now nearing his 100th birthday. Some 30 years ago he was captivated by then President Johnson's 1st daughter Lynda, but old LBJ put his foot down. Mr. Thurmond found himself another young lady & recently at a social event he was heard to reply to Lynda Robb's compliments on his family - "They could have been yours."
Aren't they though? I go out and have fun but meeting people is imposible. Just last friday night I went out w/ my friend to a nice bar in Mid-town and I ended up talking to a couple of guys and they were just NOT interesting. I was NOT enchanted to say the least.

It was just blind luck that she was in Houston on inauguration weekend. She flew down for the weekend in part for the Chicago Wolves-Houston Aeros hockey game and some warm weather in January. Even though it was cold here, it was much warmer than in Chicago. I can talk her into a return trip for more Freeping, even though next time I am the one who is supposed to do the flying.
When I figure out if I am single or not, I will let you know... :-)

I didn't say it was easy, just possible. Worked for me. It went a little something like this. Went to bar to dance, danced, went out again, and again, and again, and now we have been married for 8 1/2 years.
Oh yeah some other advice, listen to your friends if they tell you to go out with someone you may not think is your type. If my wife's friends hadn't told her to go out with me my daughter wouldn't be running around the house.

I was glad to see this post. Before the inauguration, I was trying to see if there were going to be other singles at the Freeper Ball - not to make a "date" necessarily, but to gather with likeminded folk.
So, I guess with some "vanity" here's a question: anyone in the "singular" group attending CPAC? I'm going 1/2 of Thursday (including the banquet - missed out on the Friday banquet - darn! - and all day Friday & Saturday.)
Planning to stop by the FR booth and help out if possible in between panels/speeches.
