For a long time conservatives and other anti-socialist types have ranted and railed about how biased and unfair the news media are. There are organizations such as the Media Research Center and Accuracy in Media whose raison d'etre is to report upon and expose the leftist musings of Brokaw, Jennings, et al.
What has been lacking, however, has been an organized and activist approach to address this problem. It is time for that to change.
It is time to take action.
It is time for a shot across the bow--a warning--not intended to harm, but to put out notice. To tell the practitioners of slant and spin that we want a change.
One of the more flagrant purveyors of left wing propaganda in broadcast journalism is Captain Dan the Newsman Rather. His exploits, his unpredictability, and his "eccentricities" are legendary.
This is a guy who once tied himself to a tree so he could witness a hurricane.
This is a guy who swears that his reports are fair and balanced.
All I ever dreamed of was being a journalist, and the definition of journalist to me was the guy who’s an honest broker of information....I do subscribe to the idea of: ‘Play no favorites and pull no punches.’”—Dan Rather--Exchange on CNN’s Crossfire, June 24
As managing editor, he holds sway over the CBS Evening News. He decides what stories are told.
He claims to be a reporter. We think he is not. We think he is a manipulator who promotes his leftist agenda to millions of viewers every weekday evening.
There are reams of evidence supporting our claims. They cannot be refuted.
It's time to send a message to Captain Dan.
Let's be gentle -- at first. Let's send him an oh-so-gentle shot across the bow.
Let's send him a valentine. Better yet, let's send him an un-valentine:

This will serve as a warning -- a humane thing to do, n'est-ce pas?
We don't want to hurt anyone. We just want the truth. We want it from Rather, Jennings, Brokaw and all the rest. After all, their broadcasts are subsidized by us. The government controls the air waves -- and we are the government.
You'd better grab some rope and find a tree, Captain Dan.
There's a hurricane heading your way.
Please show the Captain you care.
Please send him an un-valentine.
Even better, send them to his bosses
Best yet, send them several and get everyone you can to send them too.

Send them to:

It has been said that 40 snailmails are equivalent to 100 e-mails. Real cards and letters have a heft, both literally and figuratively, that e-mails don't. Therefore you are STRONGLY encouraged to use the US Postal Service to carry your messages.
Again, snail mail will have more of an impact. Nonetheless, it would seem appropriate that they get lots of e-mails too. To provide them with your opinions go to CBS feedback
There will be posted throughout this thread examples of "Blatherisms" you might consider copying and pasting to your cards and other correspondences. For a ready supply, you might consider visiting Ratherbiased.com. You need to decide for yourself which are legit, although some of the ones listed there are truly legendary. A source that I have great confidence in is Media Research Center
Immediately following "Operation Valentine", on February 15, we have a number of people already lined up to closely monitor his newscasts, to listen and document his misrepresentations, (including, but not limited to, the way in which he characterizes conservatives vis-a-vis leftists). We will pay attention to which stories he elects to report and, perhaps more importantly, which he chooses to ignore.
THE REST OF US SHOULD NOT WATCH HIS SHOW.
Should, as we expect, the Captain continue his escapades, we shall continue this campaign. If necessary, we will pursue the matter with sponsors, affiliates, stockholders--with whomever will listen to and address our grievances.
Will this little skirmish solve the problem? Certainly not. Leftism is well-entrenched in the media as it is throughout our culture. There are a number of strategies that we can and will take to address and solve this problem.
But we have to start and other strategies are best left for later.
Let's start now.
Excellent job red team!
A big VALENTINE bump from a media bias fighter!! Clever.....very clever. Come on freepers, sent those Valentines to Rather's bosses!!
THE REST OF US SHOULD NOT WATCH HIS SHOW.
Like any of us watch him right now?
With all the hype today of OV, I was hoping the operation was going to be the kidnapping of Paula Zahn to brainwash her and maker her think she's my wife.
PRINTERS ON!!!!!!!!!!!......Stamps at the Ready!!!!
BLATERISM ALERT:
1993
"If we could be one-hundredth as great as you and Hillary Rodham Clinton have been in the White House, we'd take it right now and walk away winners...Thank you very much and tell Mrs. Clinton we respect her and we're pulling for her."
* Dan Rather at a May 27 meeting of CBS station affiliate's managers, talking via satellite to President Clinton about his then new on-air partnership with Connie Chung as co-anchor.
FanFreepin'tabulous, be-baw!
Best yet, send them several and get everyone you can to send them too.
I bought several of those pre-stamped twenty cent blank postcards from the post office today.... these graphics, printed, can be elmer-glued on to them, they fit perfectly! In fact, my printer is humming away as I post this... hehehe!
Captain Dan, there's a hurricane heading your way.
Rockin'. There's nothing that beats on-the-ground activism.
Should read BLATHERISM ALERT! -- I dislike the man so much I can't even spell that right!
YEE-HAW!!!!
Well, Well...
at last we are engaged in positive action against Media Prejudice.
I Love It!!!!
LOL
Every journey begins with a single step ..... this is only that first step.
I LOVE IT, be-baw! My valentines will be in tomorrow's mail.

Will there be daily reports from the monitors?
Check it out!!!!! You were right!!!!!!!
pen to paper to CBS re Cpt. Dan
We probably ought to make sure that Brit Hume sees a copy of the valentines we are sending to "Captain Dan---the Newsman"
We should Carbon copy a few of these to the other networks so they will get the message and because they may report on it. :)
Worth restating:
However, we implore upon you to avoid personal assaults and any other kind of threatening or vulgur comments.

BLATHERISM ALERT!
January 22, 2000
"President Bush's fast anti-abortion action" Tease by Rather to open the Evening News.
Rather set up the story by painting Bush's decision in ideological terms: "This was President Bush's first day at the office and he did something to quickly please the right flank in his party:
He re-instituted an anti-abortion policy that had been in place during his father's term and the Reagan presidency but was lifted during the Clinton years."
Eight years ago Rather teased at the top of the January 22, 1993 CBS Evening News: "On the anniversary of Roe versus Wade President Clinton fulfills a promise, supporting abortion rights."
Rather made that the show's lead, again stressing how Clinton had "delivered" on a campaign promise: "Good evening, Dan Rather reporting. It was 20 years ago today, the United States Supreme Court handed down its landmark abortion rights ruling and the controversy hasn't stopped since. Today, with the stroke of a pen, President Clinton delivered on his campaign promise to cancel several anti-abortion regulations of the Reagan-Bush years. CBS News correspondent Rita Braver has our report."
Of course, neither Rather or Braver made any allusions to how Clinton "did something to quickly please the left flank in his party."
bttt
I plan to send mine in buisness size envelopes. It will cost a few cents more for each one, but someone will have to open them. Postcards can be sifted easily. Envelopes must be opened. There may be a thank you from the clintoons that danny boy would not want to miss.
Dang it! that was my first guess! Then I second guessed myself. My first thought was Rather's head explodes from all the swelling. But of course this is much better. How do I print it out?(sorry I'm not very good at this puter thing yet) When my print screen comes up do I just print page 1 of 1? Did that make sense? AAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHH!!!
I'm proud to say I NEVER watch this blow hard. Pardon the pun.(in light of the hurricane story)
I completely agree with the snail mail idea. Much better to have thousands of "cards and letters" and not so easy to delete them!!! I love Free Republic!!
Awwwwwwwwwww, man! Now I gotta clean my keyboard!
No wonder people insist that we use the Barf Alert sign!
Here it is!!!!!!!!! Get some stamps!!!!!!
What an excellent idea! I can't wait to start sending my un-valentines and alerting my family to do the same. Thank you!
Bryan: Can you bump everyone for us? Thanks much!
Couldn't resist starting off with that one! I almost barfed just copying it!
There were some great Burma Shave rhymes during the fundraisers, so this should be a snap to come up with some goodies -- especially with the first line already there.
Roses are red
but I am blue.
'cause the media's biased
And that means you!
Can any of you with flag lists already prepared assist with getting the word out?
For those of us who are technology-challenged, how do we copy these wonderful graphics?
What's the frequency Kenneth?
I believe Rather did say that and that the context was rather sickening, but what was the context again?
Could you flag some folks for us! I can't find my list from the Bush/Cheney days!
You have a stronger stomach than I. :-)
Bump! Consider Dan Blather freeped by this woman!
Never watched him, never will, but I've heard about this clymer lies.
(I still wish it was Maxine giving Hitlery a wedgie, though.)
bump. Dad, you're gonna love this one. Let's send a whole envelope of "valentines" to Dan Rather, via Certified mail!
Is there such a thing - sending a post card with 'return signature requested', or is that only with registered mail?
THE REST OF US SHOULD NOT WATCH HIS SHOW.
I gave up on him long ago. However, the occasional viewing reinforces my belief that he has some major bias against George W. and all things non-Liberal/Democratic.
Cool campaign... I'll send my un-valentine in business-sized envelopes also, for greater impact, along with a letter.
Every journey begins with a single step ..... this is only that first step. I'll hold you to that promise!! There are so many deserving presstitutes out there and if we're successful here, I have a long list to provide. Let me call a few friends to join us in sending our best wishes. BTW, what was the significance of the "ov" and "ou" clues?
BLATHERISM ALERT
November 30, 2000
Introducing another story, Rather asserted: "With an overwhelming Republican majority under Governor Jeb Bush, Florida's legislature went into special session today. It is now more determined than ever to guarantee that whatever else happens Florida's decisive votes go to Bush."
BUMP!
Woe! Rather's going to be hotter than a blacktop parking lot in Laredo when he sees this.
You MUST get in on this!
Sure thing!
ping!
I'm printing and labeling envelopes now!
Bump!
GAAAAAD!!! Does he have a crystal ball or something?!?
Ping
These would go perfectly with the theme of A Shot Across The Bow...

WAY KEWL!
Seasons don't fear the Rather, nor do the wind and the sun and the rain...
Seasons don't fear the Rather, nor do the wind and the sun and the rain...
I offered to do this because I dislike the man so much. I vowed in November 1993 when rather called the election for Ma Richards over GW right after the polls closed, then pulled it back to a tie, and then finally begrudgingly gave the Governor's race to GW, that I would never watch him again and I haven't. When he pondered on the air how the people of Texas could defeat such a fine woman, I almost threw something through the TV. Here I was celebrating a GW victory after working to defeat that woman and he comes up with that nonsense!
This was a pleasure to participate in as he is my enemy #1 in the media, and I can't wait to send off my valentines!
Here is a flashback from December 1998 courtesy of Cyber Alert:
Thursday night on CNN’s Larry King Live Dan Rather confirmed that he "hated" the Lewinsky story "from the very beginning," believes Hillary Clinton should be Time’s "Person of the Year" and thinks she may be the next Democratic nominee for President, and recommended to Al Gore what "I’d do" to insure the nomination: promise to make Hillary Clinton the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Here are the three relevant comments from CBS News anchor Dan Rather from the December 3 Larry King Live:
-- Rather on the Lewinsky story and his reaction when it broke while he was in Cuba covering the Pope’s visit:
"I have hated it from the very beginning and I have hated right the way through, you see? Well, wait a minute, you just said that sometimes a big story you like, bad news? I realize that it's somewhat contradictory. But this story is, from the beginning, it's the kind of story that, you know, I have no apology. I hate it. I have hated it all the way through. It's one reason I tried to stay in Cuba, when the Pope, it turned out that that would have been a foolish thing for us to do, I suppose, but I was the last out of there because I kept hoping. I just said, oh, we have got a great story, the Pope in Cuba, and we're going to go back to cover something as sleazy as this. Naturally, we all came back and the rest is history. But I hate it, as well."
-- Rather on Hillary’s presidential future and how she should be Person of the Year:
"I would not be astonished to see Hillary Clinton be the Democratic nominee in 2000. Listen, I agree that Al Gore is the odds-on favorite. He's probably going to be the nominee. But, you know, you and I know, having covered politics for a lifetime, overnight's a long time in politics, a week is forever. Here we are talking about a race almost two years away. Hillary Clinton, as far as I'm concerned, she's the Person of the Year, if Time magazine doesn't put her on the cover, they may put Mike, Mark McGwire, or Alan Greenspan, or somebody, but Hillary Clinton is the Person of the Year in that, you talk about a comeback kid -- she makes her husband look like Ned in knee pants in terms of comeback from where she was early in the Clinton administration. You know, you add it all up, and you can make a case that Hillary Clinton might, might -- mark the word -- be the strongest candidate for the Democrats. But I'm not predicting it, I'm just raising it as a possibility."
Or a hope?
-- After King wondered if Hillary’s chances in 2000 might be better if back room deals were still possible, Rather expounded on how he’d put Hillary on the Supreme Court.
Rather: "Now, we've had so many blue plate specials. If you're Al Gore -- listen he's been a loyal Vice President. He is the odds-on favorite for the nomination. If you were Al Gore what would you do?"
King: "Make her, ask her to be Vice President. Is that what you think? Is that where you're leading me?"
Rather: "No, I think maybe I would say, ‘You know, we want the goals of the Clinton administration to be achieved and to go forward. I need your help, First Lady, friend of mine, Hillary Clinton, and if I'm elected President, I will make you the next Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.’ That's what I'd do, but Al Gore is a better man than I am and I doubt that he'd do it."
Seasons don't fear the Rather, nor do the wind and the sun and the rain...
We can be like Cuba. (Come on, Sheeple.) Don't fear the Rather...
We need some help with this project. Beside sending the un-valentines, can you help us come up with some sweet rhymes?
Thanks for the flag flurry ...... now we're cooking!!!
We can be like Cuba. (Come on, Sheeple.) Don't fear the Rather...
We can be like Cuba. (Come on, Sheeple.) Don't fear the Rather...
Can you help? Let's unvalentine this liberal promoter of trash.
My original letter is in the mail.

You're Rather biased
So what can we do?
We have decided
To unvalentine you!
Does anyone have that picture of Dan Rather and Fidel Castro (I believe Rather had his arm around him)?
Here is the truth.
the one you don't see.
We do not like
you're biased TV.
|
- Some even hold company shares! Where was your concern back in '93 At Clinton's Cabinet millionaires?? Happy V'Day, Dan! | |
Okay, a little hokey... *grin*
I always view media bias with skepticism, like the boy who cried "Wolf," but thanks for reminding me that with Rather, and probably the media in general, the Goebbelism is quite real! Thanx!
Roses are Red Violets are Blue We have Fox News, Now we don't need you!
An unrelated-to-taxes bump...
Does anyone have that picture of Dan Rather and Fidel Castro (I believe Rather had his arm around him)?
BUMP to the everloving
Does anyone have that picture of Dan Rather and Fidel Castro (I believe Rather had his arm around him)?
If you would just tell
the truth in your news
I'd watch once again
'stead of pulling the fuse.
I think that it has to be registered for a return receipt.
I can send 50 for tomorrows mail. Lets get some numbers going. How man thousands will Captain dan get in the first wave?
Valentine's Greetings,
I think you're the best,
At spinning the message,
You surpass the rest!!!
Let's UNVALENTINE!
BUMP!!!
BUMP!!!
Flags to y'all!!
BUMP!!!
BUMP!!!
We need to have a place to keep a running tally! This is gonna be fun!
How's about some help with the UnValentine project?
Great idea, thanks for the heads up.
Great idea! Thanks for the graphics, I'm copying them onto separate sheets at work and mailing in business envelopes with the little windows in them. It looks like a bill so they'll have to open them. I'm putting a special message onto each one too, all clean but to the point. It would further hurt Dan's feelings to know that I'm taking the cost of the postage and envelopes off my taxes as a business expense. LOL!
After we've fired the "shot across the bow", can the next shot be a torpedo below the water line? ;}
Heads up! This is good!
BUMP!!!
Valentine-in-the-mail BUMP
Let's bother the blather!
Roses are Red Violets are Blue We have Fox News, Now we don't need you!
All are good but I like this one the best! Ha! Ha! Ha! Be sure to send a copy or two to Fox.

Want to volunteer to UnValentine?
This is a great idea. I've posted a link over at the Ladies Investigative Guild.
I'll use the custom made creeting card machine at TARGET to make him one. How about "Roses are red, violets are blue; your show sucks cause we know it ain't true."
Dan Rather luvs Betty Mills!

How about "Roses are red, violets are blue; your show sucks cause we know it ain't true.
Well, that certainly lowered the level! LOL!!
ABCNNBCBS Bias BUMP!!!
Roses are Red Violets are Blue We have Fox News, Now we don't need you!
This is truly great poetry. It should grate on their soul!

BUMP!
Never watched him, never will, but I've heard about this clymer lies.
Let's get busy telling HIM!!!! Look out Dan here it comes!
Blatherism Alert
From November 1, 2000 interview with Algore:
"Mr. Vice President, you've been part of an administration that one can argue has presided over the greatest economic, sustained economic boom in the history of the country....
No bias here. [/sarcasm]
I will be letting Rather & company know that I intend to let their sponsors know my feelings as well. Also, so he won't feel put upon, I will let him know that Jenningsbrokawlehrerandall are in the same boat.
WE ARE --NOT -- WATCHING!
A chance to gig a Texan from Sam Houston State
BUMP!
Great job!
You shouldn't have been so secretive ... :-)
Roses are Red Violets are Blue We have Fox News, Now we don't need you!
That's my favorite so far!
Roses are red,
Rather is too
We like Fox,
'cause they're true blue.
BUMP!
to be honest, I don't see that much bias in it. The economy was on fire, what matters is who gets credit for it. IMHO.
bttt
I think you're on to sth, bert. Putting 'Fox' in there will tear him apart!
BUMP!
new thread for our <56k friends? (I don't know how to start one)
I second that. This is already getting reallllly sllllloooowwww. Any thread masters in the house?
BTW ... in the same vein ... Did anyone see Moley Safer the other night on L. King? He all but said that Clinton had a few screws lose ... actually this is what he said : "... a man riddled with flaws, with flaws writ very large, by the way, as we see." It actually must have killed him to be truthful. Full transcript is at: http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0102/05/lkl.00.html
The only reason I watch Morley is that he is my neighbor in CT and he can be a curmudgeon ... he is cut from the same CBS cloth as Blather ... Hewitt lives in town too. Wouldn't it be fun to FReep them too?
bttt for ol' Dan's sake
Roses are red
They can be yellow, too.
But the ones I like,
Have a FoxNews hue.
yes it would be fun to freep them. I think we should stick to well coordinated, precision "attacks" for now though. We need to really give it to them. I would love to see Fox News report on it. lol
Here's my contribution. It is called "Nightly Lies":
My dearest Dan,
Friend of Fidel,
Your lies are known,
Those you nightly tell.
Thanks to talk radio,
And the web world wide,
Your nightly lies,
No longer hide....
We've got to start somewhere, and Captain Dan is certainly deserving.
Let's pick a day, oh, any day at random and go to that MRC Cyber alert and see if we had any Dan from that night. Let's go with October 12, 2000. Well lookie here!
Interviewing Republican VP nominee Cheney via satellite from Kildeer, Illinois, Rather queried: "When pressed about his experience, Governor Bush repeatedly, and he did so tonight, points to his circle of advisers and knowledgeable people such as yourself. How can the voters be sure, that if he’s elected President that George Bush would in fact be in charge and that you wouldn’t be, if you will, sort of the hidden hand President?"Hey Dan, did you ever ask Joe Lieberman, given Gore's struggles with the truth, how the voters could be sure, if elected President that Conscience of the Senate Lieberman would not in fact be in charge and that he wouldn't be, if you will, sort of the hidden soul president?Cheney chuckled and assured Rather "that there’s no question who the top man is" and it’s Bush, not him.
Lookie here Christine! It's time to have some fun!!
INCOMING Dan!
Care to UnValentine with us?
For the technically challenged, with IE, an easy way to save and print the graphics is to right-click on the graphic, select "save picture", pick a place to save it, and a name for the file. The you can use Microsoft Photo Editor, Imaging (in Accessories), or any graphics program to open and print it.
to be honest, I don't see that much bias in it. The economy was on fire, what matters is who gets credit for it. IMHO.
Sure. And, that is exactly the point. The bias is in the implication that either algore or clinton were in any way responsible for it. That was the BIG LIE for 8 years and will continue to be the spin for the nest 4 years.
Dump (on Dan) Bump!
nest
nest = next
Don't ya hate it when ya see that typo right AFTER ya hit post?

Roses are red
And sometimes they're pink
Not all of your viewers
Are as dumb as you think

Roses are red
And symbols of matings
Your skew and your bias
Will bulldoze your ratings

Roses are red
They chase away blues
If only they did the same thing
With your views

Roses are red
They smell sweet and clean
Unlike the odor
Of your Dem spin machine

Roses are red
Their petals a-glowing
Be careful, Dan
Your bias is showing

Roses are reds
And sometimes they're pinks
Roses smell great
Your news coverage stinks
"I always view media bias with skepticism"
Sceptics can send a Valentine too.
You just need to be motivated....
***President-elect George W. Bush began announcing his cabinet appointees, several of whom were minorities: "George Bush's cabinet is already shaping up to be much more diverse than that of previous Republican administrations, but does the change only run skin deep?" --Dan Rather in an online preview of the night's Evening News, December 20, 2000.
Believer now?
Roses are red,
And Dan reports.
One is a flower,
The other distorts.
Geraniums are red
Pansies are purple
Dan doesn't tell the truth
And that's for shurple.
Get LB in on the fun ! You know she would love to make some valentines ! LOL!
I'm sending you this Valentine
to tell you what I think
about the lies you tell each night
in fact.... they really stink.
If you would try once in a while
to try and speak the truth
by finding out the evidence
and offering the proof
Instead you offer hyperbole
and liberal spin galore
I'll turn your channel off right now
and watch your show NO MORE!
Thought you might enjoy this thread......
On the Way!
I haven't responded because I have heard from 2 Freepers that this club is by invitation only. I wasn't invited to be part of this group :~(
Thanks, sweetie. All of us graphically-challeged low techies appreciate your help.
I've had a great time trying to guess. Stamped and ready to go. Sending very many much tomorrow! Thanks again for so much fun!
teacup, huh?
I haven't responded because I have heard from 2 Freepers that this club is by invitation only. I wasn't invited to be part of this group
On behalf of the MB Forum, I want to invite you to be a charter member. The qualifications are that you either show an interest in the topic through your posts or you are cute. I think you qualify on both criteria and will be happy to sponsor your admission.
Meanwhile, please join the fun!!!
I'm inclined to participate, however, I don't want to do anything that might end up helping Daffy Dan's sagging ratings. Nobody watches him. Let's keep it that way.
FOX RULES!!
OK .....I'm attempting a new thread....bear with me....
Dan Rather:
"Questions [that the independent counsel leaked items to the press] about the Starr investigation came fast and furious, but not the answers."
Dan Rather on the CBS Evening News, April 30, 1998.
"The Clintons have accused Starr of illegal, false and self-serving leaks of grand jury testimony in a campaign to get the Clintons at all costs, as they see it."
Dan Rather on the CBS Evening News, February 24, 1998.
"First Lady Hillary Clinton targeted by leaks in the Republican Whitewater offensive..."
Dan Rather on the CBS Evening News, June 17, 1996.
Dan's Evil Spin Twin:
Someone on the Senate Judiciary Committee had leaked information damaging to Clarence Thomas:
"Would you agree, or would you not agree, that one person's leak is another person's public service?"
Dan Rather to Bruce Fein during the Clarence Thomas hearings, October 12, 1991.
At the request of the president, the Senate decided to investigate the leak to see who was responsible. Rather speaks of this:
"A process has been set in motion that leads from one first amendment violation to another, like falling dominos."
Dan Rather speaking at the National Press Club, March 16, 1992.
Terrific job!!!!! What we need now is one for NBC,ABC & CNN
Everyone is invited to take part in the UnValentining of Dan Blather!
We haven't watched him,NBC,ABC or CNN for some time now.
You are so correct.............FOX Rules!!!!!
"Ken Starr relentlessly pursues Bill Clinton and his presidency,"
--Dan Rather on the CBS Evening News, August 19, 1998.
"So he slogs on."
--Dan Rather, speaking of Kenneth Starr, Rather Reporting, April 22,
1998.
The beat goes on............
Look who's playing without his friends, Rika!
Roses are red,
Dan Rather is, too.
So I'll skip CBS News,
and form my own point-of-view!

Herewith the new thread!
Greg
thanks for the heads up.
freep to blather on the way.
TWINS?
"Rather was confronted about 11 p.m. while walking on Park Avenue. When he tried to walk away, he was punched from behind and knocked to the ground.
The attacker then chased Rather into a building and kicked him several times in the back."
"The mystery may be solved: Dan Rather has identified the man he says beat him up on the street in 1986 while demanding to know 'Kenneth, what is the frequency?' The CBS anchorman said his assailant was William Tager, now in prison for killing an NBC stagehand outside the Today show in 1994. Tager was convinced the media had him under surveillance and were beaming hostile messages to him, and he demanded that Rather tell him the frequency being used, according to a forensic psychiatrist who examined Tager after the NBC shooting. Rather was told by the psychiatrist, Dr. Park Dietz, that Tager was almost certainly his attacker. The anchorman identified Tager from pictures supplied by the New York Daily News. 'There's no doubt in my mind that this is the person,' Rather said."

There's lots of great stuff here, folks. I'm adding a bump and a small contribution:
Roses are red,
And so, Dan, are you;
Your liberal bias
Just stinks through and through
I second you on Teacup! Great addition!
As the 3-day old official recruiter of this newborn Chapter, I hereby invite you to join.
This started up about the same time as the Ladies Guild, and I suspect there are some misunderstandings all around.
How does one become a member of either group seems to be causing some hard feelings. Invitation denotes exclusivity, which is not the case. It's a matter of vetting, and remembering FReepers who would be interested. bonnie
I've already extended the invitation!
Ooooh. I like it. Let me try.
Roses are red,
You're freaking biased,
YOU'RE FREAKING BIASED,
YOU"RE FREAKING BIASED!
How was that?
I figured you had! This thread is moving so fast I wanted to make sure I didn't forget either. I posted the link to the Bush eGroup also to get them over here to take part too!
Roses are red
Just like Dan's news
I like the truth
so I turn on Fox News!
This was not playing. Adult war fare. So wanted to keep the ladies away :-)
Look, another kewl Valentine song for DAN MAN!!! Wow! you never cease to amaze me, austin!
I have a certain, definate, and focused dislike for "Captain Dan the newsman". He almost killed my mother! Allow me to explain.
During the Tete offensive in VietNam I was engaged in the battle for Hue. The 101st Airborne had dropped into a battle that we were outnumbered in. We had the 1st & the 7th Marines with us but we were outnumbered. The suprize of the attack should have done the trick. The NVA regs occupied the city of Hue. Well, it didn't at the outset. We had to fight the little bastards for a few days, and hard fighting it was. During that time Danny boy was a field man for CBS news. He stood in a rice patty 2 miles ouside of (safe) Siagon telling a story he wrote himself, no facts, because the media was blacked out of this operation. Just Danny's own story of what must be going on in Hue. This maggot was reporting heavy casualties on the Airborne and the Marine Divisions. We were all dying, according to Captain Dan. These 3 days were the worst days that the NVA ever saw. We kicked their ass and sent them running back up the trail. It cost us, but not near as much as it cost them.
My mother though I was dead because Captain Dan the newsman told her that on TV. The story is long and involved, there were many more units that won that battle. The lasting part of this epic battle was that it was reported by Captain Dan the News Man as a defeat. It was a victory, I was there, I know. My mother found out I didn't die, so his damage wasn't lasting. She never watched that man again, nor would she ever acknowledge his existance. My mother went trough WW2 waiting for the man she loved, the man that was 101 Airborne, the man that went into France on D-day -8 hours. That would be my father. My father wanted to kill Dan Rather!
There's a story about Captain Dan....the NewsMan, and how he influenced my life.
Thanks for the flag, NoDems. These fit just right on the index cards I used for the mini signs at the Ball.
Excellent!!
Excellent!!
Oh yes I can play
'cause Dan has seen his day
We will have our way
When Dan's sponsors won't pay
Sorry, I don't have the printer to handle the graphics so e-mail will have to do!
Roses are red
and so are you
You hate conservatives
and we don't watch you.
Excellent, thanks for the heads up. Will take action.
Good stuff Second, thanks!!
Rather is biased
CBS is the worst
When I want the news,
I turn on Fox first!

Your experience with Mr. Rather shows how calloused and inhumane he is. God bless you and your family and thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
You are ever the gentleman, CG.
What, no kudos for my poetry? (I always knew you liked her best *pout, cry*) hehehehe (I know, it's bad, but c'mon, I did do it on the fly!!!) ;-)

I'm in.
Sick and tired of the media BUMP!
You are welcome.
Man! the last thing I thought I would be doing for Valentine this (or any) year would be to send a greeting to Dan( I Love Castro) rather......................here it goes.
Spring has sprung,
Grass has riz,
Where last year's careless driver is,
Burma Shave
A shot across the bow? Not likely mate. Hard aport and give 'em a broadside! Let's see how they like the taste o' grape. Damn the torpedos! Full speed ahead!
Contacting an obvious anti-American as Dan Rather violates my choice to stay away from the liberal news crew whose goal(s) are to destroy individual rights, liberties and freedoms. I have turned off my 5 household TVs for years, particularly to the newscast of the singular NBCCBSABCCNN consortium of eliticist, political baboons. They violate the concept of a free press and serve little purpose other than idle chatter; at best, weather related stories got a yawn from me because of their entertaining emphasis on local weather; little need to watch TV, when I look-up accurate conditions with weather.com as a function of my often busy schedule.
I have to admit, though, that in the past year my wife has re-kindled my interest in watching TV news. It is with a good news crew located on FOX-NEWS. My hat is off to them for balanced reporting and excellent scrutiny.
As a footnote, my stay in hotels across America do not have FOX-NEWS capability. However, CNN is broadcasted day and night ..... I automatically click it off when finding their station.
Thanks for the flag! Super idea!
Dan is Rather Liberally Biased
While Hume is Fair & Balanced
That's why CBS Drools and FOX Rules!
Spring has sprung,
Grass has riz,
Where last year's careless driver is,
Burma Shave
That's a treasure!! I miss seeing those signs along the highway, they were all that broke the up the boring long road trips as a kid!
Valentines going out tomorrow...
Thanks for the heads up!!!

What a delightful idea. Shall we do something similar on May 13th? I've always said Dan was a real mother...
Freeps on the way!
Gracias for the Ping Mr Board Member.
I know that its deep in the thread but I'll sign onto anything that is ANTI - Rather oriented. However if we plan to win the war on the Liberal establishment media we must inform the masses. This includes door-to-door campaigns, literature drops, spontanious (sp?) rallies in major cities. Another good (if unlikley) idea is to try to flush liberal journalism colleges (yes, like algore).
Ready for Freepin' duty, SIR
Looks like ANOTHER TRASH DAY is IN ORDER!!!!
Thanks for the heads up!
When does the "Kenneth- frequency" guy get paroled?
I am about ready for the sequel.
Thanks for the flag.
Thank you so much for the flag, and it's great to hear from you:-)

John Swinton, the former Chief of Staff of the New York Times, called by his peers, "The Dean of his profession." was asked in 1953 to give a toast before the NY Press Club:
"There is no such thing at this date of the world's history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of journalist is to destroy truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting an independent press? We are the tools and vassals for the rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."
Nothing has changed for centuries, dozens of centuries. The elites, who believe they own the world and all of its' resources and people, set up governments to hide behind and eventually a press to lie for them.
And the whole time us "little people" allow it to happen because it's easier than being responsible for ourselves. We accept servitude over freedom because it is easier, then we try to blame someone else for our problems and want someone else to solve them.
Maybe history proves we don't deserve to be free, we can't handle it. But after all the orchestrated wars, genocides, depressions, and epidemics wouldn't it be nice to give the people who want PEACE, FAMILIES, JOBS, and FREEDOM a chance at running the world, instead of the people pushing for world rule. The elites have already slaughtered millions of innocent unarmed men, women and children to achieve their goal of world control. Don't any of You ever wonder what could happen if we gave PEACE a chance?
We would have achieved everything that has been achieved, sure with their money things went faster, but we would own the technology, we would share the knowledge, we would prosper. Is having something today, worth your children being slaves tomorrow?
The lies start at the top, don't accept them.
thank you, suh!
troops, FALL OUT!
Thanks for the *ping*, my friend.
Lookit...I hope all you youngsters {:)} have much fun with this thing. Go for it.
But I have to tell ya, I did something to this shameless piece of human debris (& many others just like him) some years ago. An act so spiteful, so cruel... I'm almost afraid to admit it before this, or any other forum.
I left 'em to themselves.
Time will do everything required, to bring them their due-justice now.
And I ain't even waiting to watch.
Great job, be-baw. My unvalentines to Dan Rather and others are in the mail. By the way, I have been boycotting Dan Rather since 1988, when his behavior in an interview with George Bush the Father was rude and intolerable. I have also been boycotting the other major network news programs for years because of their liberal bias.
Bump. Great idea; nice graphics. Humor & ridicule is a most potent weapon.
