CLINTONS STOLE WHITE HOUSE PROPERTY FROM DAY ONE
TRIPP: ''Most [White House gifts] didn't make it to the gift unit"

More questions over Clinton gifts

Report claims Clintons
took White House
furniture a year ago

February 9 - One Clinton critic says the former president will become a
'poster child on how not to leave the White House.' NBC News' Lisa Myers
reports.

By Lisa Myers
NBC NEWS CORRESPONDENT

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 - Twenty days after he left the presidency, there were
new questions Friday about whether the Clintons removed even more government
property from the White House without disclosing it. The new questions come
to light from a government list of furniture the Clinton's returned to the
White House on Wednesday night.

IT INCLUDES not only $28,000 in gifts listed on their financial
disclosure sheet but also six new items that the Clintons had not even
reported taking with them: a gaming table inlaid with the presidential seal,
a television armoire, two prints and two more tables.
The Park Service says virtually all the items taken and returned are
in fact government property.

A spokesman for the former president says the gifts were given to the
Clintons when he was president-elect, before he officially took office, so
they didn't have to be disclosed. She says the Clintons considered them
personal gifts but sent them back "just to be safe."
However, The Washington Post reported Friday that the Clintons
started shipping White House furniture to their new home in New York more
than a year ago, without revealing it.

Clinton critics see a pattern.

"We have never seen a president leave office in a more tawdry
fashion," said Chuck Lewis of the Center for Public Integrity. "In fact,
Bill Clinton will go down as the poster child on how not to leave the White
House. I mean, you cannot top what he has done in the last few days, the
last three weeks - it's beyond the pale."

There was also more uproar about the pardon of fugitive billionaire
Mark Rich. Time magazine reported Friday that Rich's ex-wife, Denise, gave
the Clinton presidential library at least $400,000 and, sources said,
pledged even more.

"We need to find out why," Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind., chairman of the
House Government Reform Committee, "and I don't think Bill Clinton has given
a proper explanation as to why he pardoned Marc Rich."
Rich pardon probe widens

GOLF CLUB CONTROVERSY

And if that weren't enough, there was also a new controversy over the
fact that Clinton played golf Wednesday at what many say is a segregated
golf club - exclusive Indian Creek Country Club in Miami.

The Democratic mayor of Indian Creek Village, Len Miller, said
Clinton should not have played there.

"This club does not like people like me," he said, "people who are
Jewish or people who are of color."

Clinton spokesman Jake Siewert said that the president doesn't
condone discrimination and that he pardoned Marc Rich on the merits of his
case. He also said the former president deserves some space.

"I think he has a right to a little bit more of a life as a private
citizen now," Siewert said. "And it might be time for the media to lighten
up a little bit."

But even the president's friends complain that he keeps giving
ammunition to his enemies. Said one embarrassed Democrat: "This is a
nightmare. It will never end."

Tripp: Clintons Changed Gift System
Transcript: Linda Tripp on 'Larry King Live'

By: Deb Riechmann

(AP) President Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton did not always fill out
the proper gift forms for presents received at the White House and kept some
of them for themselves, according to Linda Tripp, whose tapes of
conversations with Monica Lewinsky led to his impeachment.

''Most of it didn't make it to the gift unit,'' Tripp said Friday night on
''Larry King Live,'' describing a roomful of presents that had been sent to
the White House by heads of state in honor of Clinton's inauguration in
January 1993. ''I know on many occasions it went to them.''

She said that when she was filling out proper gift forms for logging in
presents sent to the White House, that she was told, in so many words:
''Take off your Bush hat. This is the Clinton White House.''

''They didn't want any part of that,'' she said.

Tripp, who worked in the Clinton White House for a year and a half, taped
her conversations with Lewinsky that helped lead to Clinton's impeachment.
Tripp was fired from her $100,000-a-year political position on Inauguration
Day.

The Clinton transition office had no comment on Tripp's remarks.

After being criticized for taking $190,000 worth of china, flatware, rugs,
televisions, sofas and other gifts with them when they left the White House,
the Clintons announced last week that they would pay for $86,000 worth of
gifts.

Then on Wednesday, the Clintons returned 19 items after some donors said
their gifts were for the White House, not the former first family. The goods
-- lamps, tables, chairs, sofas and prints -- were put on a truck in
Chappaqua, N.Y., where the Clintons have a house, and shipped to a warehouse
in a Maryland suburb of Washington where White House items are stored.

After concluding that the items the Clintons took with them were the
property of the White House, not personal gifts they were entitled to keep,
the National Park Service on Friday released an inventory of the items
returned.

Questions remain about why the items ended up with the Clintons.

The Clintons have refused to comment on the National Park Service
determination. But early this week, the former president's office issued a
statement saying every item accepted by him and the former first lady, who
is now the junior Democratic senator from New York, had been identified by
the White House gift office as a present to them.

''Gifts did not leave the White House without the approval of the White
House usher's and curator's offices,'' the statement said.

White House officials who handle gifts to presidents have refused to
comment.

Jim McDaniel, the National Park Service liaison to the White House, said
Thursday that he had found no evidence of clerical errors that could have
caused items meant for the White House to have been placed on the list of
personal gifts the Clintons could chose to keep.

The list released Friday did not give the value of the items returned.

About a dozen of the gifts in question, however, were itemized on the
Clintons' final financial disclosure report. The total value of those gifts
was about $28,000.

According to McDaniel's list, the Clintons returned:

--Gaming table inlaid with presidential seal, checkerboard and backgammon
board

--Sofa upholstered in teal green with bold floral

--Cream-colored TV armoire with green trim, painted with red berries on
branches

--Brass floor lamp

--Pair of table lamps with antique finish

--Print of a boy reading with a woman on a porch swing at a beach

--Print of houses with American flag on a porch

--Coffee table painted antique green

--Round center table with dark green edge

--White kitchen table

--Four white chairs with woven sections and striped seat cushions

--Two sofas, easy chair and ottoman upholstered in bold blue floral

Among the gifts that former president Bill Clinton says he is keeping as
personal presents he accepted last year are $28,000 worth of furnishings
that documents and interviews indicate were given to the National Park
Service in 1993 as part of the permanent White House collection...

Two of the furniture makers whose donations Clinton took with him on
leaving the White House last month say they gave them to the White House
as part of a widely publicized, $396,000 redecoration of the executive
mansion and not to Clinton personally.

"When we've been asked to donate, it was always hyphenated with the
words, " 'White House,' " New York manufacturer Steve Mittman said of
his family-owned business, which gave two sofas, an easy chair and an
ottoman, worth $19,900 and listed by Clinton as part of the gifts he
took with him. "To us, it was not a donation to a particular person."

Gifts Were Not Meant for Clintons, Some Donors Say

When I created this little metaphoric musing a year ago, I hardly
imagined that she would--that they would--in real life, in real time--
actually swipe the sofa. Smaller objects, certainly, but not the sofa...

None of the above. Burton should zero in on the pardon for four Hasidic criminals who delivered their traditionally Republican ward to Hillary by 1400-12 even as neighboring religious Jewish communities voted overwhelmingly for Lazio. It is illegal to exchange a promise of a pardon for votes. Hillary may just have crossed the line.

--Dick Morris: Probe Hillary's pardon for votes

Burton should zero in on the twelve Hasidim who didn't fall for the ganefs' shtick. I'm sure they can tell him a lot.

Additionally, Chair Lift notwithstanding, Burton ought to refocus on the corrupt harpy's $8M-->10M "book" deal.
(Her sofa swiping is to her "book" deal as petit larceny is to grand theft.)

And talking about her retrogressions into larceny of the petit kind, a credible source has informed me that throughout her tenure as White House hostess, the congenital kleptocrat habitually pilfered from the people's house's drapery fund.

Burton ought to look into that, too...for what is more fitting than the WH drapery fund proving to be clinton curtains?

Mia,

Hillary is so cheap she has been wearing those drapes lately.

Linda Tripp said the clintons stole White House gifts from day one. She told Larry King that she was ordered by Bruce Lindsey not to fill out the forms required to inventory all White House gifts. He told her "this is the CLINTON -- NOT THE BUSH -- White House.

Tripp said that some of the gifts were of enormous value, citing as an example precious-jewel-encrusted crystal from Arab shieks.

She said hillary clinton was the prime mover of the theft, that hillary clinton is motivated solely by money and by power.

Tripp also said that hillary clinton was primarily responsible for Waco, and that Vince Foster played a role. She added that whereas Foster was devastated by the tragedy, hillary was cold-blood, indifferent.

Everything about both these evil crfetures is repugnant in the extreme, but Mia you are wrong on one of your facts.

The jewelled crystal globe that Ms. Tripp described was not received on Clinton's watch, she only mentioned it to illustrate that many gifts given to the Amereican President are of great value.

Just to be clear.

Your clarification is accurate. I was unclear. The example cited was to illustrate value. Larry had asked Tripp if gifts of similar enormous value were stolen by the clintons and Tripp responded, 'Yes.'

I agree with Larry, she looks wonderful!!! And, she was the most relaxed I've seen her yet.

It must be a badge of courage for him - like taking towels from the local Super8.

Has anyone seen my a$$? It appears to be missing from all of the laughing. That's the sad part, it's gotten to such an extreme point that this stuff has become a source of humor to me. In fact, I actually get pi$$ed-off at myself for finding it funny.

I should be seething over such a gross abuse of power and taxpayer money, and in all actuality, I probably am and just choose to be in denial. I think it's because there is such overwhelming evidence and no-one in the "mainstream media" has the cajones to report this to any extent (only a blurb here of there, burried somewhere), not that this is a surprise.

Another job well done, Mia T. You guys and gals are the reason I go to FR first to find out what the new is (and should be!).

I think it time, since the clintons have left the White House, and mrs.bill is the one still in office, that the Freepers make a MRS.BILL PROTEST UNIT. Time to hit her where she lives.

We should go - en mass - to her enterings and exitings of the senate, and everywhere else she goes, and LOOK HER IN THE EYE (which she hates and forbids) and stare her down with a public recitation of the thefts.

mrs. bill clinton - the queen of tawdry and tacky. What trash!!!

You should apply for a job working for Maxine Waters. She doesn't believe anything Tripp says either. People like you are the reason the Clintons have gotten away with this crap for so long. Just can't make yourself believe it, can you. And anyone who says they did something are liars and "pieholes". You're pititful.

Lets see: "The taking and carrying away the property of another with an intent to steal." (Common Law Definition of Larceny)

They took:

They carried away:

The property:

Of another(the U.S. Taxpayers):

With the intent to steal. Yep they had the intent per this witness.

Now the consequences for the Clintons. NOTHING! NONE! NIL! NADA! Lets move on!

The intention of any WH or personal Clinton gifts can be clearly and unambiguously determined: Was the gift deducted by the giver on their taxes?

If not deducted then it was personal to the Clinton's. Each giver's tax records can be suponeaed by the Burton Committee.

If the curator diverted WH tax deductable gifts to the Clinton's then a crime was committed by someone.

I will bet that a larger number than the $28,000 oft quoted amount that the Clinton's absconded with was a lot larger if the above objective standard of determining intent is used.

. . .I wouldn't believe one word coming from sleazy Linda's pie hole.

On this same subject, I stated on a different thread to some buffoon named Buckeroo:

Where I went to school, they taught me two of the most important things I've ever learned, and that have served me very well over the years:

1) Don't pee on yourself.

2) If you claim that someone is a liar, you better have proof.

Care to step up to the plate, @$$wipe?

Thank you.

If I had done all this, the headline would be: FBI SWAT TEAM IN FLAME-THROWING TANK ON TRAIL OF RACIST THIEF AND KNOWN BRIBE TAKER.

America is really a "great country" for the true big time thieves and criminals. Anyone actually believe that this is a land of truth and justice? These thieves are so cocky and contemptuous of us - they no longer even try to hide their crimes. They just say, "I'm totally responsible for this action. If you knew more about it, you would agree with me." Then, they motor down the road - doing crime after crime while we sit with our mouths agape - and the liberals laugh and call us unreasonable people. Such is America.

The sad thing is, the children are watching. And, they will believe if a president and his "stay with your man" woman can openly steal and betray every trust, then why should they, the children, be any different? That's the real problem - the children are watching. And, they see we are an impotent, uncaring people who meekly accept all manner of criminality and moral turpitude. Yep, we're Americans.

I saw the replay. I was very impressed with Linda Tripp's intelligence, articulateness, lucidity, lack of vindictiveness, morality. The contrast with the cretinous, vengeful, pathological clintons was stark.

You are a genius, Mia!

After all this gets looked into, then they can start to inventory the Clinton Archives in Little Rock, where more loot was probably shipped under armed guard...tons of materials....tons of important documents..and probably tons of missing White House memorabilia, etc..

It's GOT to be there!

Apparently it has adhered to the junior senator from the Empire State. Don't bother asking for it back--she claims it was a gift.

Hi Mia! Great Post.

The crime of larceny is complete with the act of taking possession of an item belonging to another with the intent to remove same from the other's possession. Returning the item later, or aborting the crime before "you leave the store" does NOT invalidate the Felony.

The Clintons of course, through lanny davis, or jack quinn, or some other of their bullpen of weasels, would assert that the Clintons, honestly believing the goods were theirs, lacked criminal intent when they pilfered the white house. Ms. Tripp's unrefuted testimony that the Clinton's took precautions to prevent a proper accounting of the gifts in the first place, would be more than sufficient circumstantial evidence, however, of criminal intent to get a common shoplifter or embezzeler convicted in short order.

"Gifts did not leave the White House without the approval of the White House usher's and curator's offices..." [emphasis added]

If recollection serves, didn't the Clintons FIRE the head WH usher shortly AFTER they arrived? I think there was some sort of litigation over the firing.

How convenient for the Clintons. A coincidence, no doubt.

The Democratic mayor of Indian Creek Village, Len Miller, said Clinton should not have played there.

Bush and Ashcroft get skewered for weeks for speaking at Bob Jones, yet Clinton gets off after only a day or two after playing at a segregated golf club. Sick.

Knowing advance that these comments will get me flamed, I must comment on the recent allegations by Linda Tripp. First, I find it hard to believe that one White House employee could have observed so many scandals (Lewinski, Foster, theft of gifts,...). Second, why didn't Tripp report or document the crime?

SMOKING GUN ALERT:

"Gifts did not leave the White House without the approval of the White House usher's and curator's offices..." [emphasis added]

from a Judicial Watch press release:

"The FBI file of Chris Emery, the White House usher reportedly fired by Mrs. Clinton for helping Barbara Bush with a computer problem, was also seen in Vince Foster's safe." [emphasis added]

Elsewhere, a web search reveals Emery was replaced as WH head usher by Gary Walters, who in turn is implicated in a variety of minor issues and scandals, such as engineering the firing of a WH chef who had filed a EEO complaint.

What we have here is a repeat of the Travelgate scandal; WH employees railroaded out of their jobs and replaced by Clinton loyalists like the Clinton's cousin in the WH travel office, and Walters as WH usher. And now we know ONE of the motives: to put a Clinton loyalist in the WH Usher's Office to facilitate (by improper or non-exitent inventorying of gifts) the eventual looting of WH goods by the Clinton's when they left town.

If you follow the links on the web regarding replacement WH usher Gary Walters, it appears he was a Hillary henchman. One can only suppose he was recommended for the job by the same person that recommended former bar bouncer Craig Livingstone as head of WH security.

If I had to guess, I would suspect that Walters was chosen as the replacement by virtue of having skeletons of some sort in his closet that make him pliable to "suggestions" by Hillary. It also appears that Walters provided testimony regarding WH activity in the aftermath of the death of Vince Foster. Gee, I wonder who benefited from that?????

Why am I not surprised?

SMOKING GUN, CONTINUED....

Here's some more dirt on thre role played by Gary Walters, the Clinton's replacement WH Head Usher:

From: Bob Franken/CNN
In: Washington

Subject: Starr Considered Getting Search Warrant For White House

CNN has learned that Whitewater prosecutors considered seeking a warrant to search the White House last year, but cut a compromise with administration officials who were horrified at the prospect.

Sources familiar with the incident tell CNN that "sometime after the grand jury," referring to Hillary Rodham Clinton's historic grand jury appearance in January 1996, Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr "raised the possibility" with the White House that he would seek a warrant to search the White House living quarters.

According to a source, Starr was seeking a box that had handwriting on it belonging to Vincent Foster, the close Clinton friend and deputy White House counsel who killed himself in 1993. Foster had done personal legal work for the Clintons.

Sources say a compromise was reached: White House attorneys Jane Sherburne and Miriam Nemetz and usher Gary Walters "scoured the living quarters" but did not come up with the box.

The Clintons' personal attorney, David Kendall, was not involved. Sherburne and Nemetz were the two White House counsels who took notes of conversations with Mrs. Clinton -- notes just turned over yesterday to Starr after he won his Supreme Court case.

According to a source, "The president and first lady did not object to the search," although, he went on, a warrant "could have raised all kinds of legal and constitutional questions."

The sources said they did not know what was in the boxes. There was no comment from any of the participants.

Meanwhile, White House meetings continue to discuss whether and how to release to the public the notes that were just turned over to Starr.

How's that for a coincidence?

The WH Head usher, a holdover from the Bush WH, is fired after helping Barbara Bush with a computer question, and replaced with Gary Walters, who conveniently stops cataloging WH gifts, engineers the firing of an assitant WH chef who filed an EEO complaint, and helps Clinton scandal lawyers "scour" the WH living quarters, but can't find the Vince Foster-related documents Starr was going to request a search warrant to get.

How very convenient, and coincidental.......
